It’s time to start going UP!! In today’s Off Grid Cabin Build we put on old barn wood floor joists on top of the 1st level so we can add on the loft! And the results are incredible! The old barn wood added such character to out off grid cabin in the Ozarks!

It’s called Zip Board. It’s a weather resistant osb. Much better than the plywood and house wrap. Plus it’s structural for added strength.

The cabin is looking good. I notice every time you go down to work on it the access road is always muddy. As you plan on using it as an air BNB sometimes, is there going to be a better access road to the cabin?

I hate to be the wet blanket on your barn boards... but I see you have many little children. So you might want to check if the red paint is old enough to contain lead based paint. Lead based paint is terrible for growing bodies and minds. Sorry to be a downer and disregard if you have already checked into this.

That’s a great thing to check.. but the red part was painted after the days of lead based paint. Thanks
