I flew up to Montgomery to see these guys at the DAP event. Very much worth the trip to meet them. Jim was as gracious and engaging as could be. After a few years of actively following the channel, it was like talking to a good friend.

..............G'day Jim and Brenda, having had horses in my family name for centuries, your channel provides much pleasure for me and my admiration for you and your horses is unbounded. Thank you! As I grew up, and horses disappeared, I switched to iron-horses, and still ride at 83 years old. Cheers and God bless, Malcolm.

Grass weight. The fat is gonna be popping out around the harnesses, and the sweat's gonna pop out first lap with the plow. Welcome back, I missed you all. June is used to following the rope, is my take. Plus they all get sassy after a spell. Might feel a bit disorganised, Jim, when you hook up the aristocracy again. My guess is Ken gets the job of anchor again, when Duke and Earl go big-time logging. Greetings from Australia.

It was only in last 4 years of Suzy’s life that she was on grain and hay pallets along with supplements full time again after 10 years of being on strictly grass with only grain on weekends im a firm believer in letting animals live as naturally as I can she was also barefoot from 2002 to end of her life

PG here, I pray you had a rejuvenating time at Dapnet. A lot of good fellowship with other people working with horses and farm animals. From Ohio, it seems Dapnet faired better from Helene than Ohio, We had a drought from July to Sept 25, 2024. I saw you had a water gage in an earlier video. Right before the drought, we bought one. In two months we had.10 inches of rain. Unheard of in Ohio. I was watering nearly every day! In 4 days we have received 4 inches of rain Monday at 2:00pm. Last weekend, Sept. 21, we taught butchering classes on meat birds, (47 chickens) in completely ground, cracking, dusty conditions. 3 hid and 1 of them died during the rainy conditions. There are still two 8-9 pound birds to be butchered. Way to big! You were greatly missed by your animals and your loyal viewers. Seeing Ken standing at the shoulder of Jim, (loyalty between man and his horse) and not leaving his side. That cheered my heart so much. I'm revitalized! The sun just shined through the dreary clouds, literally, today. Ken can not wait to get shoed up and back onto the logging trails.

Just curious-A horse may very well gain weight on just pasture with no grain but some of that may be due to the fact that they are not working and burning calories. But do they still get all the vitamins and minerals they need that they might get otherwise in grain or supplements? And how do you determine what is the "correct" weight for each horse. I assume that just putting on flesh doesn't necessarily mean its "good" weight or muscle. A horse might look better with 200 lbs. extra weight but that weight could be a handicap when the horse is working.

Sabrina If you go way back Jim did a 5 part series ,Title "What I feed my horses " so answer is yes "oats" . Full scoop 1/2 scoop or no scoop .Depends on their work load. Scoop size about a quarter I believe . 😊😊😊
