Many Tatars are living in Finland. They are excellent people. I lived many years in the same house with Hamidulla Hisamedtin. He once gave me a huge pike, that he had angled. We Finnish people use to say: "How one shouts into the forest, it echoes back". It means: Good people are treated well, and there is plenty of room in the forest for bad people.

All cultures should be preserved. I've been learning the language of my ancestors (Irish). It was almost driven to extinction by the British and is still under threat of dying out. Crimean Tatar is a pretty cool language in of itself, lots of similarities with Turkish.

The Russian population in Tatarstan in 1926 was 43.1%, in 1939 it was 42.9%, 43.9 in 1959, 42.4 in 1970, 44.0% in 1979, 43.3 in 1989, 39.5 in 2002, and 39.7% in 2010.

Tatars are not native to Crimea they came to Crimea in 13 century with the Mongols. However I do not support genocide of any people indigenous or not.

Yes, Crimea is in Europe but no - Crimean Tatars are not "a European people". Turkic people themselves have their origins in the steppes of Central Asia & Mongolia. In fact, Crimean Tatar culture is very similar to that of the Uyghur culture in China's Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
