I think divorced people can offer advice based on the failure of the relationship. They know what did NOT work and can advise from that standpoint. I don’t think they’re advice should be discounted.

I love this episode but I do take advice from single people. At time even married people will tell you to stay in unhealthy relationships because they’re in one. My single friends give me amazing advice. Just because someone doesn’t have a significant other doesn’t mean they can’t give great advice. And vice versa.

Thank you so much for this comment, I do not understand when people say "do not take advice from single people" as if they cannot make a valid point. The right person can give you great advice and open your eyes to something you may not have seen or even considered before. Many people go to a marriage therapist who may not be married, but they receive advice from them?!

Good content unfortunately my wife’s family weren’t the greatest in-laws I had to learn to stay in prayer pick my battles and still learn to love them through Gods word. They don’t come from the best of role models but I love my wife and I had to learn and still am learning to know when to remove myself. I love the wisdom you do have to give I love listening to yal. 1 thing I’ve learned God has to be your foundation

Enjoyed the podcast as always. One thing on the question of accepting advice from someone who isn’t in a position you want to be in is Paul in the Bible. He was single yet giving sound advice to those who were married. Although, overall I agree that for example, if I want to accumulate wealth, I wouldn’t want advice from a broke person. There are still some instances were we can receive from those who aren’t necessarily our end goal like Paul. God bless y’all!💜

I really liked the bird analogy Cam!! I would not mind receiving advice from my single friends. I believe the key words are "sound and wisdom" once it aligns with the word of God I see no problem with it. Married people should be weary of negative advice from single friends, however, because one is married does not automatically mean they have the answers, wisdom, or maturity to speak into your situation. Like Vicky always says every situation is different so it may take different people who are at different stages to pour into a situation.

I agree w many ppl on here saying single ppl can give good advice. most the men in the bible were single. Its about being lead by the Holy spirit. Marriage comes from God it's a reflection of Christ and the Church so He knows best. Many married people don't know how to be a spouse that will build up their spouse and glorify God In their marriage. It's only with God that every human can be good in business, career, relationships, in life, with money, as a parent etc.. so discernment from the Holy spirit is key when taking advice but anyone can give good advice when lead by the Holy Spirit 🙏🏽

I really loved this episode because it's definitely a way to see an outlook on other people's perspectives on certain things. Like as for me, I have literally never been in a relationship but literally every single last one of my friends always come to me for relationship advice. They always tell me, "somehow you always know what to say. You always know where to guide and how to help us do better." And I say thats nothing but wisdom and knowledge the Lord has given me. I don't necessarily tell them what I would personally do in a relationship I only speak on what the Bible says about true love and relationships. And of course if you are actually being dumb or ignorant then obviously that's when common sense kicks in 😭😩 imma always call you out on it. I will always correct them on their stupidity. I do not sugarcoat. But that's the only thing that I may disagree on. I don't necessarily think you have to have had experienced a certain situation in order to speak out on it or give proper advice. I think it all plays into where your mindset lays and where you seak your help from. But you guys keep doing what you're doing cause babyyyy I stay watching on every single channel y'all have ❤It's so heartwarming to see Christian people who I somehow compare to, out here being great and showing people you can actually have a lit life while loving Jesus. Y'all are truly inspiring.

My parents and I didn’t have the best relationship growing up. I saw them as parents/providers and not friends, so when as I got older we just didn’t mesh and I didn’t feel comfortable coming to them for anything. All that has translated into my relationship because when I came out as bisexual with my then girlfriend, now fiancée; it wasn’t that great, they basically didn’t want to talk about it at all. Versus on the other hand my fiancées family is AMAZING, she’s best friends with her parents and therefore her parents treat me with so much love. But we knew that going into it, and I knew that I wasn’t going to let my parents determine my happiness because that wasn’t fair to me. The relationship is a little better now, they’ve become more accepting and are making amends with my fiancée and her family. But just like Vicky said, you want to make sure you’re with someone that will support you no matter what. And best believe if anyone in my family gets smart about my relationship, ima have some words for them cuz it’s none of their business 😂

I respect your vulnerability and willingness to share your marriage journey. I have acquired alot of insight from your marriage. Truth does not require experience to be valid. Neither Jesus nor the Apostle Paul were married,; however, their teaching on marriage are truth. People whether single or divorce are still able to speak on marriage as long as they share God's word . Your situation is truly a blessing, however, it is still flawed because all humanity is flawed; yet, we still listen as you share your marriage journey.

Appreciate you. These are things I also stated in the podcast. However we cannot compare wisdom from Jesus to wisdom from Paul. We also must ensure we have the right interpretation of what Paul’s letters to the church are as well. Right interpretation and right doctrine produce proper practice.
@lovedbyjesus70653 жыл бұрын
@@CameronLogan Amen! Most of what Paul stated was inspired by the Holy Spirit anyway. Some things he spoke from his own mind, but the majority was God’s words through him. Paul acknowledges that.

Love you guys and the pod! Love this content. Sincere question: when it comes to advice and who we are willing to receive it from, can single people offer wisdom to the married on marriage? Can a poor person offer wisdom to the wealthy on wealth? Childless to parents? Etc etc...I’m wondering if we’re making our stance on advice-giving so black and white that we’ve left no room for nuance?

You don't necessarily have to experience to give Godly wisdom. The Apostle Paul spoke on marriage, yet he had never been married
@everythingiswe3 жыл бұрын
Yes but, not everyone has the Godly wisdom or call on their life that Paul had. It’s a lot of people out here giving bad, unwise advice 😂

@@everythingiswe I totally agree 100% that's why I said Godly wisdom. If it's not Godly or sound wisdom bye.. 😁 I really enjoy listening to you both.
@IAmHisBeloved53 жыл бұрын
@@sdcr1077 I agree with you because the Bible is full of wisdom and you don’t have to be walking in a certain area to share the wisdom that’s written in God’s word. The Bible tell wives to submit to their husbands. And tell husbands love your wife as Christ love the church. You can be single and remind married people of things such as that for them to have a successful marriage. And that’s just two examples.

One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of older generations have unaddressed or unhealed trauma and tend to take it out on their kids. Baby boomers in particular weren’t as mental health focused as we are. So their actions can’t always be taken personal

"Would seek advice from someone that isn't successful in that area?" This is a great question cause I would ask their experiences to see how I can avoid their failures, but at the same time, I wouldn't watch failed entrepreneurs on KZbin. I watch people like Dave Ramsay who has failed and is now succeeding.

Jesus was single and he gave married advice (not to compare myself to Jesus lol). All relationships rooted in the fruit of the spirit will survive. Im single and when I give advice to people in relationships or someone married it’s in the form of self reflection. I won’t tell you what you should do, but I will ask if your actions or reactions are driven by love, peace, kindness, etc and let that person come to their own epiphany. You can only control your actions and reactions even though you are one with the other. Would I take advice rooted in opinion from a single person? No. But, i will take sound doctrine...as you were saying.
