Thank you for this message. Our insurance denied help for our hurricane Helene damages as well. FEMA has been here and still is here helping. They are helpful and kind.

We have Allstate Ins. NE Ohio. Our house was hit by lighting. We had very good results from them. Thank God no fire. One light switch, the garage door opener and the basement door were fixed. All we paid was the deductible.

Thanks for your comment! The problem is because of the rush of the rivers and mudslides they’re saying it’s a flood and no one has flood insurance because we would we need it in the mountains? I would hope after paying 15 years for insurance if I needed them they would come through. We’re counting our blessings everyday.

Thank you for some sane clarification. I've seen so many different videos from outside groups going in and reporting so much negative information and estimating up to 30,000 deceased. I'm happy to finally hear some positive truthful news. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this devasting situation. Prayers for all from KY.

Happy Family, thank you for your message about all the misinformation concerning Hurricane Helene. We agree with you 100%. We appreciate your reporting on what is currently taking place there in Asheville. We enjoy your video's and especially "Be happy or at least try."

I don't know you or why this video was suggested to me but loved the message despite the reason. My community was destroyed in a wildfire years ago when various "theories," misinformation and political slants were in their infancy and we're still included as it all has become more mainstream among some people and included just about every type of disaster that exists. Know recovery will be a long and sometimes difficult road but thank you for being informative about what is happening there.

Thank you for taking the time to comment! You never really understand it until you live a natural disaster and the misinformation certainly hurts our hearts more. It’s actually all still surreal. We are strong and will rebuild! 😀

What I’ve been seeing on social media from here in central Alabama are positive wonderful things of donations of all kinds and people coming from everywhere to help, truck drivers, churches, I’ve never seen such love and coming together as I’ve been seeing posted on my social media!

Glad y’all are doing good. Hurricane Helene gave us a lot of wind damage but nothing too serious. But hurricane Milton that brought a lot of trees down and a lot electric outages. For several days we didn’t have power,internet and cell service. It felt weird to be out of the loop . Stay strong and stay happy!

I dont live in the area, have not have had boots on the ground, but have been watching an assortment of videos with pictures of different communities. My many mile away perspective is that it has been amazing to see the effects of all the work that has been done in the Tennesee and North Carolina area along road ways; I haven't tapped I to SC, WV, etc..., I'm sure its there too. Yes, the assorted citizens and citizen's based assistance groups were significant in getting trees cut from roadways. Yes, the citizens got roads cleared of mud and rocks from both the floods and also the slides. And the list goes on. But it is evident that honest to goodness road crews have moved stuff out and other stuff in. From the outside looking in, they would not have been able to go directly to work doing what they do best had the citizen's efforts not done all of the preliminary work doing what they could.

Watching videos is not the same as being there. Doesn’t matter if you watch 10,000 videos. The people on the ground who are legitimate have received help from FEMA, National Guard, Military and other federal agencies.
@terryhenderson42421 күн бұрын
@@solarwind907 I will grant that watching videos is not the same. This said, I spend as much time looking at the back ground of the videos as what the content provider is featuring. Ive seen enough storms in tree country to begin to honestly understand what ive seen in the videos with respect to downed trees, lingering widow makers, etc... Not near as bad as some of the video I've seen but enough to understand what it is to cut your way home, cut your way out, and then face what's beyond the driveway. Ive seen some post event slide areas and some flood areas. Pretty much nothing like what I've seen on the video. - I'm guessing that a lot of the sand was created in the coursing waters but even so, im more familiar with younger mountains with stickier soil and clay.

Hey guys, glad you and family are doing ok. We dealt with similar situation in our area when the tornado outbreak in nw arkansas on may 26,2024. People lot everything and we heard they were being denied by insurance companies or they only wanted to pay very little for repairs. My insurance is great but I do know thst for our business' my police doesnt cover equipment, i have to insure each mower etc to be covered. I dont think many of us can so that.

Glad you guys are doing ok and still working. I thought about the same thing at the beginning the coast guard and fema could not get to the people becuase of the flooding and washed out bridges. Neighbors helping Neighbors becuase they couldn't get down and Fema couldn't go up. Its ashame that they have to make it political.
@happysfamilywnc24 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah most people outside of the mountains don’t know the terrain here and when you have tens of thousands of trees and poles down not to mention bridges and roads washed away. All the devastation happed in about 5 hrs between 7 and 12am Fri. The communities all around the mountains had to come together and help each other because of the amount of widespread damage. Everyone knew it would be a challenge for anyone outside of our region to get in here. Again thanks for your support and thanks for watching!

I really don’t understand all the criticism of FEMA, national guard, etc. being slow, etc. Because where I live in California, I have heard all my life, 70+ years, to be prepared with food, water, warm blankets and clothing in case of severe Earthquake- because we should plan on 3 to 7 Days before help can arrive. A few years ago, they added, Get to know your neighbors, to the preparations. When I heard about your disaster, I knew it would be 2-3 days or more for outside emergency services to get in there because I have traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway, stayed in Asheville.
@happysfamilywnc21 күн бұрын
Yes if you have never been here you don’t quite understand the terrain. It was even more difficult because the community had to clear roads, fix small bridges so the linemen could even come in a do what they needed. I don’t think locals are complaining at all! It’s people playing whisper down the lawn with our disaster. We see everyone is still working around the clock to clean-up to bring back tourism. Thanks for watching!

Your comment has really good advice. We are all going to suffer from catastrophic climate events. Maybe drought, maybe flood, maybe forest fire, hurricane, tornado, earthquake Etc. but there’s a good chance We are all going to get our turn. Being prepared for at least a week of no water/power/septic plus knowing your neighbors is super good advice. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it.
