I don't think he was over anything. I've read the history of the production in the past and it was noted that Michael was actually nervous to record in front of so many other artists, in part due to how shy he could be.

Stevie wonder and Michael were always on point because they took voice lessons since they were kids. Steve Perry is amazing because he’s almost just pure raw talent, he’s on point. James Ingram as well, he was trained. Dianna Ross was nailing her notes as well.

Yeah. You have to remember that every single person in that room are along the most gifted singers on the planet. But this song didn’t fit everyone’s style; so it required a few takes to fit in. But man when everyone got their parts right; this was probably the greatest collaboration ever. Unlike the Hell firestorm that came 25 years later with We are the world part 2.

Love the segment at the end that showcases the most iconic performers of that era who were all on top of their game. It’s refreshing to hear such talented artists occasionally hit notes that are a bit flat or sharp. Michael Jackson, what talent. Everything he did seemed so effortless. And what an incredible mix of talent. It seemed they were all sincerely enjoying singing together.
It’s great how the final edit EVERYONE is there but reality each individual came in small groups to sing their parts.

Fabulous. Love the way Michael Jackson made such an effort to get dressed up for the performance. Great performances by stars , WIllie Nelson, Springsteen who just created a bridge for the whole performance, Kenny Rogers, , some of the greats ie Tina , that are now sadly not here but make this more special .RIP.

What I learned here is that it takes time and time for all this professional to deliver this job... new artist like us should learn how to work slow and steady to get it done.... not overnight
