As a writer and researcher, I have watched more than a hundred interviews with virologists, infectious disease experts, ICU docs and epidemiologists. This was the best interview I have seen. Dr. Kim does a remarkable job of explaining vaccines, the development of vaccines and what we might anticipate with COVID-19. Good interview questions as well. If Dr. Kim was one of my professors in college, it would have been my favorite class. Perfectly articulated and understandable to the layperson.
@robynhanda10084 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Need more professors like Dr. Kim and more Doctors to take the time to explain in lay terms to patients just exactly what they are getting & why. Perhaps then anti-vaxxers wouldn't be so prevalent and staunch in their beliefs that vaccines are dangerous.

Robyn Handa Sorry this is a white bread interview. “Vaccines are given to Healthy people to keep them healthy “. What kind of statement is that?? 50% of the people in the United States of America are not healthy. So what is he talking about?? It’s not clear at all. It just sounds like it is. No question ask Nora comment offered about what happens to the unhealthy people that are also vaccinated.?? This is selective reasoning and scares the hell out of me and it should you choose but it won’t.

And the company that Gates funds is guaranteed immunity from any damages that the vaccines have already done to many children & audits in the USA, and all over the world! Increase Autism in children when these vaccines have been administered for many years now, and number of vaccines from birth to beginning of school is up to 72 vaccines! And in many states its mandatory! This guy sounds all good, but more investigation needs first done! And this guy isn't asking the right question, only question that they explain away! This interview should be aired on all English speaking national news channels in full and uninterupted. It is one of the very best serious information sources that has thus far become available to the public. The fact that the person being interviewed is the Director General of the International Vaccine Institute and is so very determined to engage so openly, clearly and concisely with the world public makes this interview very special indeed.

Thank you for saying "we don't know" and "it's not yet clear" instead of lying. It's not as easy as lying and telling people what they want to hear but it is the best way in the long run and the best way to into the future with a bigger societal drive to tackle these problems in a structured manner.

Mark Moreno - Just because an expert is well versed in mainstream current understanding doesn’t mean to say their understanding might be faulty. Famously Einstein and the mainstream of science didn’t believe quantum physics, but had to change their minds when it was repeatedly shown to be true. Covid is relatively new, and there are a lot of sweeping assumptions being made about its virulence, morbidity & mortality rates, and how best to deal with these issues. His answers are certainly interesting & informative, but no more excellent than other experts who voice differing opinions on the subject.

Yes. But so many US public schools are taking away programs continually. Would love kids' education to be put in the forefront for funding. Pandemics have been a part of the human species line for 10's of thousands of years. Most people are not aware of that. Many blame it solely on man encroaching on former wilderness. Don't be blinded by politics. Early man was not a big species, yet were wiped out in areas around the globe periodically by diseases both bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic. Any have the potential for a pandemic. Also animal lines have been effected similarly and we have had zoonotic diseases the more we began to cultivate animals. 6 of 10 diseases in human today are zoonotic. Some are familiar: rabies, malaria, west nile, the Yersenia plagues; many we don't recognize. Education should include not just the "what", but all the hows, whys, wheres, whens, etc. It could fit easily into biology, sociology, chemistry, history. We are a populous world, in motion, and l believe these diseases will be cropping up more frequently. We have been overdue for a pandemic. Dengue, Hanta, Lassa, Ebola, HIV/AIDS, H1N1, SARS1, MERS all had the potential for a major pandemic. We were able to tackle them and keep it manageable by localization and quarantine (Ebola outbreaks). If Ebola popped up in a major city, it would be far more gruesome than any thriller movie or book. Now SARS2 (COVID-19) is a pandemic. The world is working hard to tackle it - but we are hampered by being unprepared on so many levels. We are fortunate that this virus is not worse, and fortunate that science advances every year in id'ing and fighting viruses. But safe vaccines are a slow process. Yes, education is key here, there may be again in our lifetime, a pandemic will occur and we may not fare as well. But kids need to know as these pandemics change the course of history. They will grow up to be voters, leaders, etc. And I hope they will be proactive in their approach to healthcare.

Yeah we should educate... but first... everyone has to go VEGAN and eliminate the root cause.

apparently it will more balance our approach to the world by making us a little more serious, more vigilant and at the same time more responsible when I go out to go shopping or to walk a bit, I realize the gap that exists between the awareness campaigns disseminated by the media and the people who make the pandemic their last concern but I tell myself that broadcasting to day length of statistics on the coronavirus19 in the tone of monotony could contribute to trivialize the pandemic and even provoke in us this reaction which is called habituation and the pandemic ends up boring us more as a media subject than real context: words, images and the canvas that scrolls on the TV screens are relegated to the background by other concerns such as food shortages, queues in front of ATM's, curfew schedules and you have to be observant to realize the movements of the pandemic in a given territory ( we thus discover flaws in pandemic control strategies ) we are mostly members of this majority which undergoes events more than it participates we do not find gloves, masks or screening tests because of the shortages so we are required to take more precautions than those who manage to equip themselves for preventive purposes because they know people who are well placed in hospitals or other health facilities it is interesting to note this dilution of the cohesion of the social order in such circumstances which makes ineffective the speeches of appeasement of the governmental authorities because in themselves these speeches are purely demagogic and have no socio-educational or pedagogical aspect and in some cases the virus is described in such a way that we end up granting it a certain intelligence and intentionality: it is there to eliminate the human race!

@@asthecroweflies More funding is not the answer. We taxpayers already pay so much money towards the schools. Instead, the money should be spent more efficiently. With an internet connection, there is a ton of free information people can access. That's a big help right there.

This is what we need also to fight against anti-vaccers, maybe we get them to understand. Also big props to Asian Boss! Your channel is so so so important in this critical time! You look at it from various point-of-views (like the homeless people in Seoul) and I think you need to get a raise ❤ Just a smaaaaall comment, as a German person: "Europe" can't be used as you'd use Australia and North America. Europe has very individual countries with very different economic powers. Saying a vaccine is being developed in Europe can have very varying connotations!
