It is a cliffhanger because that was the intention. Boom did the same with Season 1, no one thought there'd be a season two and Bill Freiburger made a similar statement that there "no new season planned at this time". A year and half later, we were surprised with Boom season 2. And that first season had way way way less numbers in viewers than Prime. I don't get this whole just assuming "something" is over just because. You have more Prime merch rolling out throughout this years and into the next, two storybooks on Amazon in August, etc.

"you gotta be kidding me" - is actually something he would say in regards to all the crazy he went through it isn't over. They've basically set themselves for a possible continuation. More or less there's a chance that the shatterverse is merging now that the Prism removed, while Shadow is thinking it was keeping it away from Eggman. Ended up effecting more than before. The blue blast at the end is the same blast that initiated the shatter space's existence. And with how the other worlds and Nine is put back together and Nine doesn't get a full good buy, and just instead a "Fu-k you Sonic X" propper hug with Nine and Sonic. There's more that Wildbrain is hoping to continue off of. Especially given all the merch, etc. It just comes down to Netflix. SEGA, Wildbrain, and Man of Action left a blueprint for further development if Netflix wants too, which I mean, it is THE most popular kids show on their platform that made them a truck load of money as millions of new subscription were made just to watch Prime. Plus third season still had incredible numbers in hours viewed. We'll just have to wait and see, but until then fans can continue the story and characters from Prime.

i think the abrupt ending is just symbolizing how they’re back at it fighting Eggman but this time Sonic isn’t treating the fight as if it’s one on one and he’s actually working as a team with his friends. so i understand why it ended that way, i just wish they showed it was Eggman so it didn’t feel like an actual cliffhanger for another season. and i loved Nine’s development, i think he’s one of my favorite Sonic villains, but i do wish we had a bit of an epilogue for the characters in the other universes, even if it was extremely brief or even if it was just for Nine but overall i think the show was still good. all the Shadow/Sonic and Sonic/Knuckles content had my inner child jumping around

Had to keep the door open at the end in case more of it got made. It did REALLY well in the ratings. Season 1 was the 11th move viewed animated program on Netflix in the first half of 2023. The ten series that beat it were the first four seasons of Cocomelon, two seasons of Little Angel, two seasons of Paw Patrol, Minions 2, and the new season of Demon Slayer. (and Netflix ranks series by total hours people spent watching, so the fact that it did so well with only 8 episodes says a lot) Although I'm still not sure if they'd actually make more of it or decide the series had a good enough run.

You should DEFINITELY play Sonic Mania and/or Sonic Frontiers if you somehow haven’t already done so. Especially Sonic Mania. That game is objectively one of the greatest platformers ever made…Seriously, it’s THAT good. They’re the best recent Sonic games in my opinion, and they’re also the best platformers besides Mario on the market right now if you ask me. Sonic Dream Team is also a phenomenal game but it’s Apple Arcade exclusive so unless you don’t mind that fact or still haven’t used your free trial, I recommend sticking with the console games.
