Maybe it’s just me, but I’m so fucking tired of self-referential humor, which is my biggest turnoff from Harley Quinn and other shows of the like - writers nowadays are so desperately trying to create the next Monty Python while completely failing to understand what made the humor of their work fresh and funny, even Rick and Morty is guilty of flat-out excusing its shit writing by Rick just having to spill out what’s happening on screen - it completely ruins any and all immersion I could be experiencing if the characters just SHUT UP AND LET ME EXPERIENCE THINGS FOR MYSELF

They destroyed my boy Fred. He's an actual sweet dumb man who loves traps. They could've made him Scoob's original owner but because Scooby isn't up to standards when it comes to his breed the parents want to sell him off but Fred hides Scooby and feeds him in secret. A good way to include the actual main character.

to play devil's advocate Fred in this show was the only character that I thought wasn't that bad because he actually had humane flaws plus had some pretty decent lines that even got a laugh out of me. but you're right in saying that he's dogshit because this was supposed to represent the Fred that we know and love. They should've just made their own cartoon/show because if they did then this character wouldn't be that bad.

Ironically, even though the show HATES him, Fred is genuinely the most likeable and also the best character in the entire show. He is held accountable for his bad actions and mistakes (which barely happens to anyone else), his family treats him like garbage so you instantly feel more sympathy for him than anyone else, the police absolutely hold a bias against him, and he actually changes and improves as a person, which is more than I can say for anyone else in this show!

I don't know how they started off with "he's so racist he can't tell Indian and Latinos apart" and made him better than Norville, the one dude who starts out pretty normal then just gets worse the more he denies/leans into his obsession with Velma

PLEASE WRITE A SHOW WITH THIS PREMISE OMG It would be so cool if there could be some kind of cross over thing with this group and the og mystery gang. First thing that comes to mind is it's set to where the og mystery gang members are older, now more famous as a mystery-solving group. They suddenly go missing while solving a huge mystery, and the hard-core fan girl starts trying to dig into why they went missing. She finds few leads/clues, and fails to solve it. Eventually, she ropes her friends into the mystery. Perhaps her friends are also fans of the mystery gang and had unsuccessfully done their own investigations, or they aren't fans previously but get super invested into the whole mystery. Through their work sleuthing around online and putting together their clues, they figure out where they went missing to (and later how when they find them). Might be cool to also play around with the idea of setting up an ARG with the show (or have the characters solving an ARG within the show, and by extent the audience can also participate with it) set up by the main villain(s) of the series

Y'know, I've heard a phrase that perfectly encapsulates this show: it's "Anti-Writing." Like think on it: any moment in this show that supposedly means character development is ignored in the next scene or episode, characters don't change by the end, the comedy is poorly paced and set up with so many points of forced repetition, the Mystery only progresses by shear coincidence, the ending twist is out of left field, and the drama is laughable. Literally, everything in this show is the exact opposite of how a show should be written to reach par.

@RitaERROR Honestly, I wish I could argue against that, but then again, these are pretty much the same mistakes done subconsciously by fanfic writers. @@b3rz3rk3r9 that's the point. And not only that THIS one got funding and all. Dunno what's happening behind closed doors, but it's almost ridiculous to write shows almost always with the same mistakes, and still getting paid to do another one, with another acting. Like, fine, someone could argue that's because it's an cartoon and it's new to the writers and voice actors. But story wise it's the same bullshit all over again...

Fun Fact! When directing the first live action of Scooby Doo, the director hated scrappy doo so much that the whole movie was pretty much an assassination of his character. This was so effective that Scrappy Doo was “retconned” out of existence, with only a few references. I.e, in Mystery Incorporated, Daphne found a statue of Scrappy, and Fred reminded her that they never speak of him again. Additionally, in the Scooby Doo Blair Witch Parody, the gang ran in fear when they heard Scrappy. I wonder if future iterations of Velma will be primarily based off of her “kinder” Characterization, or if she’ll suffer the same fate as Scrappy lol

All of Hollywood has officially adopted the Disney motto of "F**k you, you'll watch it". This show reeks of a cash grab. They as little effort as possible into writing and directing. Then shamelessly stole the names and appearances of characters from one of the most well-known cartoons of all-time to generate interest. This had ZERO to do with anything involved with the Scooby-Doo gang. They could have used random characters with different names that the (the writers and producers) created themselves and it would be the exact same show.
