RC Everyday yeah I always wanted an old K series, in my neighborhood some dude was selling a relatively rust free K30 dump truck (With the GMC badges) and he was Asking like $4K for it, he has another K30 dump truck (have to assume it's a '88 or '89 model as it has a 3500 badge instead of a K30 badge) that he uses as a plow truck for his driveway, I'll have to definitely keep an eye out if he ever sells it, just put a bed on there and I've got myself a stock K30

Bought my dad's 85 swb 4x4 when I was 15 and a 87 K5 4x4 when I was 19. Both were black, completely rust free and in excellent condition. The a/c still worked in both. Sold them both as package deal for $7000 when I was 23. 12 years after selling them (35 now) I think about them EVERYDAY and still have dreams about them both every once in awhile

My uncle bought one of these brand new in 85. In 92 the engine was running ruff, found out one of the pistons warped. Long story short, we lived next to a guy that built engines for B mod racing. Asked him to make that 305 put out more hp than any 350. Forged racing pistons, 3/4" racing cams, high tension valve springs, bored .60 over, 650cfm carb, headers, x pipe dual ehausts. Dad says it was dynoed at 350~ hp at the rear wheels. Those 305 if treated right can have some serious horse power. It has the 3 speed with the creeper gear. In first gear i could lay down 100ft of tire tracks. Buddy of mine had a 96 camero, i could take him off the line but shifting gears is where he would get ahead of me. It was one hell of a sleeper truck. Pretty fun to have people take a second look at that rusty old truck when you would start it.

Love those old trucks. Dad had a blue k20 custom deluxe that was a tank. Don't know what gears it had in it, but the harder you mashed on the gas, the more it would drag with it. I was the one behind the wheel the day it died. Just moving some bales around the barnyard as a 10 year old kid, she stalled out on me and it never ran again at our place. Knowing what I know now at 24, that thing would still be with us.

Before I had a license I used to drive that thing (way too hard) farm to farm. Talk about gutless though. Nice find guys. Cheers.

Love the idea of more vintage content. There are a million channels that make videos about new trucks and most of us are either not financially well off enough to purchase them or too wise to be the first to eat that depreciation. Those looking to get the most out of their dollar gravitate towards older models and there is in my opinion a vast market hole on youtube for quality content revolving around older stuff. Good job guys, looking forward to videos on this old beast.

lol how quickly people forget. Wait till the frame cracks at the power steering pump. enjoy all 120 horses that 305 puts out and gets 14mpg on the highway, going downhill with a tailwind. It also has "self changing oil" (it burns it, so you add more) enjoy cleaning carbs and repairing rust. I Love my 88 k5, but its a toy and beach cruiser, I'd rather have a 2017 f150(or whatever else) for day to day tasks. Also I wouldn't pay 5 or even 4 for this truck, but with these old trucks value is in the eye of the beholder.

footbalr074 I have a 96 Ford F150 with 5.0L Windsor V8 with 203,393 miles on it and it's still going strong. The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that most of every thing else was simple maintenance and cleaned out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and after haven't had a problem ever since.

Even though it's a Chevy, I like it. I had a K20 with the 350 back in the day and it was tough as nails. This should be nice if you drop an LS into it. I have a '78 F250 4x4 and which I love and I'm pretty certain it will out live me. It would be kind of cool to compare 5 decades of pick-up trucks from Ford, Chevy & Dodge and see just what the hell when wrong in the last decade or so.

Sold my 85 k10 for a 86 f250 last year..... The fords do have nice little design and engineering features but it seems to make for more things to go wrong. Chevy might have been a bit less convenient to work on but required far less attention and work. But the interior and amenities in my extend cab bullnose feel like an RV compared to the bench and broken radio in my old square body. Each truck has their pros and cons but both are diesel 4x4 and manual transmission, transfer case and locking hubs. So both are winners in my book to this day I prefer the Chevy that I sold over the Ford I own but time and a new engine may change my mind.

You have to suit it to your needs. It's not a grocery getter, don't use this truck for that. Light duty pickup for light duty loads and driving. Thus isn't a 1985 baja special, or hot rod for that matter.

I'm 28 and DD an 87 K30 crew cab, 6bt swap. It's about having a real truck, not some bloated, overpriced, plastic clad, tech heavy piece of shit. I live in NS, ground zero for rust, the average person gets about 10 years out of a vehicle before its totally clapped out. then it becomes a "winter beater" where some poor bastard buys it for $300, puts $600 worth of bondo hair, brake lines, and exhaust work into it, and hopefully gets a winter or two out of it. whether its a cavalier, or a K10, most vehicles meet this fate. Supply and demand, clean squarebodies are hard to come by = $$$. I could get $10K for mine any day.

Awesome Truck. I love old Chevy's trucks. My grandfather had an old 1978 K20 with the 350. he beat that thing like it owed him money. I don't remember him ever changing the oil or doing maintenance on it. the heater and ac didn't work. the grill was falling apart, and if I remember correctly, the hoods had a tendency to crease in the center. it had over a120k on it when I left home in the early 90's. he drove it till the day he died. my dad has used it for hauling crap to the dump for the last 13 years and I still don't think it has ever seen any maintenance or an oil change...

That is awesome! Please put a nice, lumpy cam in it and make people remember how glorious a good V8 is.

Sometimes I feel like wanting to own a car, then I remember all the things I can put in my trucks' bed and the feeling goes away. #GMCLove

I hope you guys are committed to keeping the old style look when you get around to working on the exterior- will definitely keep its presence on the road if it doesn't have a lot of modern-looking accessories bolted on to it.
