I really wish they had continued this series, either as a parts car or something else. The trade up challenge would have been real fun to follow
@tenaciousdnut2 жыл бұрын
Jesus, if that's not the epitome of "parts car", I don't know what is. Seeing as E46's are like lego, you could probably buy an estate and use all the M3 parts to make an M3 wagon. Providing it's done right, you might make some money, and would be an interesting watch. Would be a far easier than repairing all that bodywork, at least.

Fire damage (depending on the severity of course) can be much easier to fix than a crashed car. Once the chassis is bent, you're in for a world of pain. The ridiculous amount of rust on this one is just the icing on the turd cake

@@tpiski Yes I DO agree that watching someone strip a car for parts wouldn't be very entertaining. And while I don't know the monetary setup of KZbin I will say the easier and more profitable path for the regular man would be to part it out and make way more money back. But yes I'm looking forward to watching them go crazy trying to fix this thing. And in the end are they adding the KZbin money to getting to the supercar??? As a young millennial I look forward to following this series until I retire...and then continuing to follow it. Part it out and start with some other weird car, there's easily 8-10k in parts in that wreck. Make some funny episodes of the issues you have selling parts to people, no one wants to watch this thing get rebuilt. Maybe trade it for some weird vehicle like a Lagonda. There's a reason people who do videos on in depth rebuilds involving bodywork and rust repair don't have a lot of views. It's painful, expensive, takes forever, and doesn't make good content. I'm looking forward to more subi vs supercar, the inevitable blown EJ, and more wrenches to the face when you swap another used EJ in.

thats worth more in Part out then it is worth to fix and put back on the road. Find an E46 saloon or touring and swap the engine and drivetrain across, probably the only way you could recoup your costs without breaking it for parts. BMW never made an OEM E46 saloon or touring M car so you could sell a well-converted one for 15k possibly. Just remember if you do part it out, every part of these cars is valuable in some way - even little bolts and trim bits people ill need somewhere.

In shortest possible way £8,500 was way too much for crashed E46 M3... as a whole car. As a parts car ... sure makes sense. I understand that some mods are potentially valuable, but what is often the case with modified cars is that mods done poorly and especially old modified cars are often surprisingly rusty under all bog. The secondly reason why the car even sold for so much is that people do not buy crashed cars on copart for fixing... only exceptional circumstances. Some small shunts could be very cheaply and poorly fixed and cars could be resold, but something like this missing the wheels is 100% parts car and that is why price is so high. When people bid for the parts the prices get's crazy and it is so annoying. That is especially true when considering that cars in UK are way cheaper than in Europe, so for Europeans £8,500 is cheap for the parts. The only way with this car is to get E46 coupe... whatever 320i or 318i, the solid shell and transplant everything over to new shell. It is way beyond economical fixing. Or at very least buy whole donor car to basically rebuild the body around roll cage. One thing is clear - this M3 shell is not coming back on the road.
