You may have noticed that when you lifted the rock with the loader, your arse-end lifted some. I recommend that you get an adapter and fill your rear wheels with water (or some other type of liquid ballast). When you are carrying heavy loads, 4x4 will also help you maintain control of the load on uneven surfaces. When you remove your backhoe, ballast is even more important. There are many videos on KZbin regarding ballast. If I didn’t make the point clear, ballast! Change out your hydraulic filters on schedule. There is also a hydraulic screen filter that should be checked when you service your hydraulic system. If that screen gets clogged, you will lose power in your driveline, bucket and backhoe. If you keep up your maintenance, that tractor will last for a long time. The R series tractors are the top of the line for John Deere. For reference, I worked at the local dealership for a time setting up tractors for customers. Cheers
@matthewpeterson33294 ай бұрын
I came to mention ballast. Very helpful. If you find that you are getting more punctures than normal, whether from sharp rocks or grease wood stems, you can spend a little extra and get them foam filled. This will add about as much ballast as water, and you will never have to worry about flat tires again.
@dougkrultz21494 ай бұрын
I will 3rd Ballast. if you don't want Ballast all the time also check into a Ballast box. they attach to the 3 point, and can be made fairly cheaply probably with items around the farm. the land will provide.
@5thGenNativeTexan4 ай бұрын
Bottom line was that rock was on the top end of the loader capacity, and was hung way out in front. He shouldn't need extra ballast with that backhoe attached.

You may want to get a long, heavy steel pipe and weld/screwed in place, some heavy chain and chain link for dragging the runway after you grade it with the blades. And do it after a good rain, too!. It will smooth out the blade marks/divots and help with keeping the runway in tip-top shape. Maybe a 12-foot, by 6-inch pipe with chains and chain link to keep it flat to the ground and provide the screening needed. Hell, just attach it to the blade you got and do it all at once! Just leave it at the end of a runway and do it twice a year?

Super smart move on the land plane. I am trying to get my city to buy one as well. I am going out to service the city tractor and find out if the tire needs to be replace, patched or something. Once the tractor is up and running again I am going to beg the city to let me buy a land plane. It will be so much better than that stupid rear blade that we have. We also have a front blade which is super when we push brush piles together to burn. Land planes for those who do not understand undercut what ever you are trying to smooth out. So if you have a gravel road that is getting grass or weed growing on it a land plane is your friend. A blade will pull the material from one side to the other which is fine if that what you need. Most times it is not, land planes will undercut everything and bring that big material back up to the surface and make it look smooth again. Our city is all gravel, well limestone roads and we have a number of them that now only have 2 tracks. So a land plane will undercut all of them weeds and they will dry out and blow away in time. As long as we keep up the maintained several times a year our roads will look fresh and new again. We have some sort of a drag that I plan on testing out to see how well it does. One of the roads next to my land/house is well over grown and the road is nearly on the ditch so once it gets a land plane it will be back to normal and have less grass to mow for the city.

Great job with the batteries, never thought of using jumper cables, but yeah that would totally work. Keep your tractor sexy with griots ceramic 3 in 1. Not commercializing the stuff, it is absolutely a perfect coating for keeping all the paint plastic and rubbers in brand new condition. Oh and its john deere green! I used the ceramic coating on our john deere and it still looks brand new, while the neighbors did not and all the stuff is faded and cracking. It really helps protect against water degredation, im guessing acid rain, and UV protection. You have weird subscribers, but really its worth going over your equipment, and even planes, i would swear on it indefinetly perserving if used every 1-1.5 years, thats how persistient the stuff is... for anything like cars, paint, tractors, atvs, stuff like that, AND every rain the dirt and bugs and bird poop just cleans right off. Its a huge time saver, and it prolongs the life of anything you own.
