I own two Teslas and have to give it to Lucid for their frunk and trunk… big, nice design, and electrically operated front latch which Tesla should have done years ago. For literally everything else? I’d take the Tesla. Here’s a test: go try and charge at 10 different sites. 5 in town, and 5 on a road trip. I think if you’ll see that Tesla’s real advantage in their ownership experience that they’re vertically integrated. From the hardware, to the software, to the charging network, it all just works.

I received my Air GT in March. It was flawless when it was delivered. In a normal delivery an assistant walks the new owner through the setup procedure, with many tips that may take a new owner some time to discover on their own. I have taken two long trips. The car is a joy on the freeway, very stress free, and the charging is phenomenal. The best "feature" of the car is the driving experience, smooth when you want it to be, exhilarating when pressed in Sprint mode. Mine did smell of leather and still does. I wonder why Edmunds' did not. The car in the video has 19" wheels, not 21"s. On hot sunny days you will find that the air conditioner takes a considerable amount of power. Using the ventilated seats allows the use of a more moderate temperature setting if you are worried about range. The big battery means you will seldom worry about range. Get ready for the crowds and questions whenever you stop. I have had several other cars drive unsafely around me on the freeway while their drivers tried to take photos.

@Miata8222 жыл бұрын
@@nexusebtuoy There are some legitimate grips people could have with Lucid. The Air lacks some fearures people may expect (coat hooks, over-door grab handles, things like that). The software is getting better thanks to regular updates but is still a bit slow to load. Having said all that, it is the car part of the car that makes it all worthwhile. It drives like no other car. Fast, efficient, range, charging, yes, yes, but aside from all those headline items it is the feel, the confidence, the authority it has over the road. Those unquantifiable things put this car on another level from anything that came before. *Update* I did get the "UX 2.0" major OTA software update. It resolved all the issues that had been present in the original version. I also learned that I will be getting an update to install Apple CarPlay in December, with Sirius XM to follow.

Just to let you know, Lucid got their leather from the same factory in Scotland that Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ashton Martin, etc got from to use in their interior. So you saying at 7:30 that it ‘isn’t the same as Benz, Audi, BMW’ didn’t really make sense. Since you’re a Lucid owner now, you have the right to know where they sourced their leather. I have a GT, before I got the car I asked a bunch of questions and how the interior smelled just like Rolls Royce and they gave me a bunch of information about where they sourced it. Here’s also another thing, if you don’t like the leather smell since ‘it doesn’t’ smell luxurious, smell a Birkin. Both the leather smells the exact same

@Miata8222 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Now, I can afford this kind of car, I have this exact one, but it sounds to me that Edmunds resents the price tag and has an Axe to grind against Lucid. Yes, Lucids are expensive. They have a really nice interior, and the panel gaps could probably be tighter, but that's not where the money went. Lucid Airs are drivers' cars. The suspensions, aerodynamics (including downforce), and handling are like no sedan you have ever driven. Peter Rawlinson designed race cars after getting his engineering degree, then was head engineer at Jaguar and then head engineer at Lotus while Lotus was working on the original Tesla Roadster. Musk recruited him there to design the chassis and body of the original Model S (no matter what Musk says). Moving to Atieva and changing its name to Lucid, Rawlinson recruited Derek Jenkins fresh off his sportier, lighter redesign of the MX5 Miata. He then recruited aerodynamicist Jean-Charles Monnet away from the Red Bull Formula 1 team. Those are the people, along with other high performance automotive pros, who made the Lucid drive like it does. Lucid has obsessed on every detail of design (see their KZbin channel). The car is luxurious, yes, but the money and the investment went into making it a phenomenal performance car. That is the priority, but on top of that the interior is luxurious, the ride in "Smooth" mode is incredibly quiet and comfortable, charging is faster than any other EV made, and the range far exceeds any production EV ever. Never in my life have I stuck a pen between the door and A-pillar of a car to test it, and neither has anyone other than a but hurt Edmunds reviewer who is disappointed with his life and wishing he had tried harder in school so that today he could afford a Lucid. Those are 19" wheels on the car he showed, not 21". Expect him to b1+ch about the handling, even though he has the Eco-SuperRange tires. Almost everybody orders the 21s. That's because almost everyone besides Edmonds knows what this car is really about. Edmunds. Are they trolls? or "somewhere on the spectrum"? You decide. I've wasted enough time on this.

So all the issues you focused on in the beginning, a new customer wouldnt even deal with. -Grand Touring COMES with Spotify and Tidal which you'd be logged into with an advisor when you get your car... -The pilot pannel, you just press on the arrow and wait for the graphic to fill and then let go. The beige carpets and floor mats will be a NIGHTMARE to keep clean. (I worked at a Lexus dealership in the 1990s when their models offered a similar interior color scheme). Apparently Lucid designers thought that dark seating surfaces make a stylish contrast with light carpeting...but that is impractical in the real world. Instead, carpeting/floor mats should be a medium shade of brown or gray (to hide dirt/stains)...with lighter colored (or matching color) seating surfaces that won't have the contact of dirty shoes.

Luxury cars have to keep coming up with more gimmicks to justify the price. Soft close doors are just something that's going to fail. The tablet hanging out in space is just looking for trouble. There's absolutely no way it cost more to build this lucid car than an S class. I've entered both cars. You can instantly tell which has a more rich, more expensive, and more opulent interior. The S class frankly is the closest you can get to top-tier cars such as Bentley, Rolls Royce, etc. So, how exactly did Lucid arrive at such astronomical prices for this car? What's even crazier is how the top-of-the-line Lucid Sapphire. That one starts at $249000. Utter madness. Even the 2023 Bentley Flying Spur starts at $190,000. That car is heads over this car in every aspect besides acceleration and this being an EV. Poor built quality, so how exactly did Lucid arrive at these ludicrous prices❓The care certainly isn't worth the asking price. Utter madness. But of cause people will buy.

The trunk shut line looks odd to some eyes, but it appeals to me, reminding me of the Citroëns of a generation ago. Have you tried to stick a pen between the door of your S Class and the A pillar? Go try it. I'll wait. This reviewer seems upset by the price. If he wants a Lucid that has less-than-Lamborghini performance all he has to do is order a Touring or Pure model for 50 or 60 thousand dollars less. Beyond that there are only three 4-door cars ever built that are this quick. None of them have nicer interiors or build quality. @@ShoMac BMW is behind with their Electric technology. They need the whole front of the car to put their motors and inverters. Plus the space isnt as good as the Lucid. I doubt it can get the same efficiency as the GT
@ShoMac2 жыл бұрын
@@isserdigan2835 oh when it comes to kilowatt per mile to space ratio lucid is far away and ahead the king of that no argument from me. But nowadays with so much more charging stations people are OK with 300+ miles it’s more so the technology and refinement to price and BMW whether you like it or not still leads that over Lucid. Now in the future who knows but if loose it sticks around I’m sure they will be just as great or better

So you bought this Lucid and haven’t made one other video with it what the heck?

The big battery option has a caveat. To accommodate for the big battery option the floor had to be raised up making sitting in the rear seat very awkward. Your knees are very high up like how sitting is in certain 3rd row SUV's.
@michaelborohovski40152 жыл бұрын
It looks a bit awkward on camera, but it's exceptionally comfortable in the back even without the rear footwells.

Like Microsoft marketing, it's a "feature" - like stadium seating.
@michaelborohovski40152 жыл бұрын
@@aussie2uGA Nobody said it was a feature; it's a necessary caveat due to the larger battery pack, which is required for the range and the performance (since the motors need the additional power for the additional horsepower). Pretending that design decisions don't come with trade-offs is ridiculous. That said, the trade-off made here does not make the rear seats uncomfortable at all. Have a nice day.

@@michaelborohovski4015 You missed the sarcasm ;) When Microsoft used to have strange results and nonsensical outcomes, they were labeled "features".

The rear seat in my Air GT is incredibly spacious and comfortable. I have had nothing but compliments by guests sitting there. They say they have felt pampered. The Touring and Pure models do have deeper footwells, and are available at a lower cost if that is an issue that concerns you. I recommend visiting a showroom before ordering so you can try it for yourself. Comparing the space to, for instance, a Tesla Model S, might be informative.

This reviewer is the type of person who should not be buying a Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, etc. These are startups and some imperfections should be expected. Go buy something else?

I didn't see a spare tire. Do they not include one for $150k ?
@jackylsmith81382 жыл бұрын
The only EV’s that you can get a spare tire are the Ford Lightning and Rivian R1T. I think it is standard on the Ford and optional on the Rivian.
@michaelborohovski40152 жыл бұрын
No spare, like almost any other EV, but they do have a tire repair kit.

Let’s be real. This car will not be representative of what a normal customer could expect. They clearly went through it with a fine tooth since it was going to Edmunds
