Before you go transmission shopping fix that leveling valve on your air ride so your driveline angles and suspension are right and you'll be fine if the driving without air hasn't already tested any tired bearing in your driveline as well as u joints lol good luck with the old girl they take tender loving care but are worth it if you like wrenching and keeping them going

I make a living with my 1999 379 Pete and I have put a lot of money into it to do so.. You pointed out that your air leveling valve on the rearends was not hooked up, I can tell you from experience that once you lose your air in your rearend suspension you will experience a lot of shacking and noise. Because it puts your rearends in a different position and puts a lot of stress on your U-Joints in your driveline.. Go ahead and drain your transmission and see what the oil looks like, but I can bet what you was experiencing was coming from no air in your rearend airbags..

@@natefrieden I fixed the leveling valve rod, but I also had to spend $2,000.00 in driveshafts and U-joints. The last guy in the driveline had put copper washers under caps to keep them from spinning. And the yokes were worn slap out. I’d make all four turn signals, but add a delay between each one so they animate in sequence. Shorter vehicles already have hard enough of a time seeing turn signals as it is.

If you wondering what trans you have look at the splinter if the color is red it’s a 13 speed if it’s blue it’s a 15 speed if it’s grey it’s a 18 speed this is diesel donkey 34 years over the to disable now I can help you with your paint brother if you need it I’m very happy for you y’all 😊

@@steveedwards5445 if it had that shifter yeah I would be able to tell It’s got the high low on a pull switch down low on shaft and the over drive (high side split) is only button on top. That leveling rod with the bolt out of it was the reason you were getting the transmission noise. You may have ruined the transmission or a differensial because on it.

The transmission noise may be caused by the leveling valve out of proper adjustment? I would strongly suggest thar without the proper height on the air ride suspension that will cause noise in the differentals drive line and transmission. I would definitely make sure the leveling valve was properly set before messing with the transmission. Driving a Thirteen speed is a piece of cake. Leave the button on the left side of the transmission knob in low after shifting thru both ranges low and high and in the top gear shift your red button to the high side let off the acceleration pedal and your transmission will be in your top speed or gear 13.

Driving a 13 speed is a piece of cake. After shifting through the low side, shift into 6th gear and proceed to split every gear until you are in 13th.

Seat belt and driving a 13 spd is basically driving a 10spd! Just leave splitter in high range and go through gears with front high low switch!

If you do have to replace the transmission, I'd go with a 15 over. Replace the key switch. We had a saying, take care of the small stuff and the big stuff would take care of it self. Yes i agree on the white fenders. Blue all the way. In my family we had four generations of drivers. I quit in 99. CDL no thanks and after 22 years my nephew finally gave it up the first of the year. The last one in the family to drive. I don't know what you will be doing, van, reefer, flatbed or rock. Yes you have a nice truck what we would call a chicken truck that and a w900L.. Yes fix the leveling valve first and see what happens. My dad hauled cars for Chrysler out of Fitton Missouri for many years but that's all history now. The plant shutdown cut Cassens transport is still going. I think I still have a cousin that still drives for them if he is not retired by now. @@andhotrodshop with that bolt missing from the suspension valve, it definitely will cause vibration and certainly ride better if fixed lol. depending on how they set up your drive shaft when the stretched it, hopefully it wasn't binding up and putting pressure on your output shaft. most likely if you had pressure in your bags at the beginning the bolt either fell out or they just had it set proper by hand, either way most likely vibrated down as you were driving and deflated the bags which is why you didn't notice till further along in the trip.

You've been driving for 12years and that gives you the knowledge to say this man isn't a driver. Sound like he has drove some years ago. He scratched a geat or two maybe he wouldn't have done that if the transmission hadn't had a problem. That the whole problem now with drivers they dont want to be courteous to other drivers. Very few flash lights or give you a thank you blink. Drivers set at the pumps not pulling forward to let someone else fuel. Alot of drivers don't pick up their trash and that makes us all look bad. I got my chauffeurs license 2 weeks after I got my license when I turned 16 in 1976. My dad own a 76 pete hauling coal in eastern Ky. When I turned 18 He bought a 1978 W900a had 36 ft tri-axle trailers. Spring of 1978 I started driving on my own working 6 or 7 days a week. I still have both trucks and still haul mostly just gravel with the Pete the Kw stays in the garage. Us drivers need to come together and watch each others back out here and not worry about calling someone a wanna be truck driver we were all wanna be drivers before we sat down behind that wheel for the first time

This would not be a good find for me, it will take money that I don’t have to put n a truck , did you know 13 speed transmission are timed, and if you don’t know what you are doing , it will sound just like this sounds, 13 speed road rangers must be timed in the line ups in the gears inside, thanks , and that long wheel base could be binding up the driveline , ok thanks BigAl California
