This was so refreshing to see for so many reasons. Y’all could have bought the biggest most modern house (nothing wrong with that) and had people paint for you, but you purchased a modest home that’s beautiful and you’re working on the house together as a family 🥹 such a dream!

Make sure to leave your windows open and let the paint dry/ air out for at least two days to allow the toxins to subside before properly moving in!

Most paints that they sell today have no Voc or low enough that it’s safe. But yes, they should still leave their windows open to air the house out.

The trade for the land was worth it, congrats on your fairytopia!! The paneling on the walls, we cleaned the walls with tsc cleaner then we primed the walls and then painted our paneling. Ours was a lot darker than yours. The memories in renovating will be awesome, love doing those projects with my husband.

I think YT recommended this to me because I've been looking at house plans/renovations. This reminds me so much of my husband and me about 10 years ago when we fixed up our first house-such fun times that will honestly make your marriage stronger. We're now planning to build our forever home on land, and this is just taking me back to the beginning. Y'all seem truly genuine-new subscriber even if I'm a decade (or more?) older than y'all with my last/3rd kid on the way! Love the southern hospitality, baby! Y'all can have such a coooool homestead there! We have a small one with rabbits, ducks, chickens, vegetable garden, fruit garden, and fruit trees. Besides motherhood, growing our own food is seriously one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done! ❤

You should totally keep the color of the green porch and just stain that wood a dark brown. The green compliments all the trees around you. LOVE the land, and the house is going to look so cute when you’re done with it. And honestly if you end up building it can be a guest house 😂

For the walls you can fill them. You defintely need to do alot of coats on that type of wall. My PA house had those walls and we painted and completely renovated the entire thing. It took us about 3 years since we slowly worked on it.

so awesome. My husband and I have two boys. It's always been our dream to live a homestead / slow living life style. We found property with a fixer upper that was a decent price. Not everyone sees the true beauty in it, but we love building our life and getting to do it with our young boys. Enjoy the ride, it can be stressful, especially with a young one, but a year from now you'll see the progress 💖

You are going to love it…personally, the outside siding looks fairly new and such a pretty color with all the green grass and trees….might save the money and time and leave it. Such a beautiful find, Fairytopia is going to be beautiful for your family. Painting panelling takes a ton of paint, but it will be the difference of night and day! Be bot a cottage that was built in 1882 but when we got it, was renovated in the 70's. The rooms were cheap panelling (and dark) but after painting it all white WOW, what a difference. Those grooves, or seams, or whatever they are, take a ton of paint but thankfully after everything receives the first coat, the second coat takes much less.

It's so pretty. FYI I'm sure you're done painting by now but on paneled walls you paint all the grooves with a paint brush a couple coats ( it's fine to go outside of the groove onto the walls a bit) then when that dries roll on 2 coats of paint on the walls... And voila it will be perfect. ❤

This is Washington, Ga. We live about 40 minutes from there. The town is very cute and little shops. There is a cute Christmas shop there. At Christmas time the square is all filled with lights and pretty Christmas decorations. Also they put a snow machine in the square too. This country out there is so pretty. Ya the cabinets need to be cleaned well lightly sanded and primed before you put any paint on them. If you don't prime the wood tone will show through. You guys should have bought a paint sprayer with as much as you have to paint. The taping And prep takes time but you could spray the entire house in a few hrs

You all need a brand deal with "beyond paint", for your cabinets, countertops, and tile in bathroom. That paint is awesome! No sanding and it's a professional look. Congratulations y'all!

Your new place is beautiful. I understand wanting to have more land rather than a place in a subdivision. One day yall can build a new bigger house but the cabin is so cute. Invest in a huge riding lawn mower or small tractor or both.
