We Bought The Cheapest New Electric Mercedes EQB250+ (It's NOT What We Expected)

(EQB 350 owner, so I'm being a bit defensive :) The front seats can be extended forward to support longer legs, that's been MB design for decades. This is an SUV and not a van, so the third row is obviously for kids, no point getting it if you don't have any. The complaint about the range is partly ok - as it does have noticeably less of a range than a Tesla -, but realistically how often do you drive that far anyway..? And if you do, after 200 miles you should take a break anyway and refill at a fast charger in less than half an hour. I fully agree on the brakes - there is too much room where nothing happens, and then it's very strong. The comfort and quietness make up for anything in my opinion, no need for a car that gets me several seconds faster to a speeding ticket :)

I own EQB 300 4matic & like it. I don’t do road trips that much so range is fine. I charge at home. I had GLC before this one & EQB is fine. Looks like complaining for sake of complaining 😂

For 17:30 All you need to do is press hard on your brake pedal, then lift your foot off. You'll see a “hold” icon on your screen, letting you know the Brake-Hold Function is currently on.

i'm surprised about how bad this is. I previously owned a GLB (not an EQB) and it was much better than this. if anyone wants to buy a Mercedes EQ model, go for the EQE. I recently bought one and is far more better than the EQB

Also I think brakes are an essential part, no matter how good the technology I always feel your natural instinct to brake is stronger than techs. If someone was to step out in the road then you go to brake and it’s not there just doesn’t seem safe.

I'm in the market for a 7 passenger as I have 3 children. I tried the model Y and my 8 year old who is tiny had her head against the glass when on her booster. We didn't have that issue in the EQB. The brakes issue does concern me though. Is there any other options for 7 passenger in this price point? Sure the EQS suv or X look but they come in at double the price.

I leased a 2024 Hyundai Electric Kona Ultimute. Took a test drive and it just felt right.Still does. Great range ,home charged, costs $2.50 a week to do the same trips it cost me $35 to $40 in my 2017 civic which is pretty good on gas on its own.Good brakes, steering,and ride. Looks are subjective. Worth a try.

good review but you guys should be aware that the EQB350 4matic is actually more efficient - because during normal driving only the rear motor powers the car and the rear motor is also the more efficient of the two because it is a 'permanent magnet' design vs the front is only a regular induction motor. In Europe though city driving people are reporting well over 300mile range.

This isnunfair review, this guy is clearly above average tall. A person upto 6' tall can comfortably sit in the back. Front seats have extendable thigh support which he clearly didn't use. I think you guys have made this video for sake of it. Not a genuine review.

When EV's are better overall I'll look at one but the ZERO tow issue for EV trucks and if you need HVAC for any time at all EV's are not for you. Better for climates that don't require any additional load on those small battery boxes. And trips are short.

In Europe we have the ID3 and its better looking brother the Cupra Born. Even my 58kwh gets 3.5 to 4 so similar to a Tesla. The Cupra Born is also built for taller drivers as it sits on the same platform as the ID4. I'm 6ft3 and can sit behind the front seat set in my driving position which is better than the Tesla model 3.

Some people are strange... set unrealistic expectation and then complain. Don't get me wrong glb is not great, but you get what you pay for. If you want comfort, it starts at around 70k for gas powered, +20k for electric

Nailed it. I am on my 5th Tesla ( models S, X & Y with a Cyber Truck on order) and absolutely loved every one of them. When traveling I rent with Hertz to get a Tesla but this time they were sold out and gave me Mercedes as a supposed upgrade. The bottom line is the car totally sucks! You are right that they made it for people that want a gas car but don’t want to buy gas. No wonder people don’t like electric cars, while Tesla, lucid and Rivian make vehicles far and away superior to any gas options, the balance of the ev market is dreadful. Please keep up the good work.

I am in the UK with an EQB 350. At full pelt, the front wheels loose traction but it is quick… speed of charging isn’t as fast as I’d like it.. Love your observation that it’s not marketed. Same here in the uk. I am a bit of a hobbit so the third row works well for us. Overall I love it… I drive it in D- mode so not felt the bad brakes… had a mini countryman PHEV and a BMW X1 PHEV…. Awful and grabby brakes. I think the styling is really average. It’s like fogging to the store to buy butter but buying a “butter substitute”… I also have a Hyundai Kona gen 1 great car and autonomous driving thumps the EQB

i think reviewers need to talk about real life range which is 20-80% battery spectrum with heat or AC on with occasional spirited driving. I'd reckon real life range on this is 150miles. I was seriously looking into this but I changed my mind after this review. Very helpful thank you. just too many deal brakers on this car.

A suggestion would be to get a Mercedes turbodiesel. You still get near zero pollutants and a much higher range. My GLK 250 gets low 30's per gallon combined with a 17.4 gallons capacity. Use biodiesel for the best results.

It definitely is brake-by-wire because the car will determine whether to brake by regen, or actually apply the brakes. If you drive and brake carefully, it's probably 100% regen.

The brake pressure is adapted in function of a lot of factors: how fast you release the acceleration pedal, the distance to the vehicle in front, regen braking is on auto, the next event coming from nav system together with your turn lights indicator, you use cruise control and you are driving down a hill, etc.

They do market it as 'Advanced Audio' and it's definitely better sounding than the standard audio that I had in my previous Mercs. But yeah, it's not the Burmester high end system.

I feel like the long seat cushion issue is objective especially if you 6'6"... most people are not that tall so they likely won't experience this issue. likely you knew that seating was gunna bar an issue for you when you went to buy it since most car manufactures don't make small SUV's for 6'6" people therefore u should have purchased one of the larger vehicles... idk maybe that's just my logic 🤷🏾‍♂

You guys are indeed too tall for this car. I'm 6', and for me this car is just about perfect. I can sit comfortably at the wheel and behind myself. The breaking regeneration is about the best i have experienced, but it has to grow a bit on you. The range and DC-charging could be a bit better, but for the rest this car has a lot of things other mentioned competitors just don't have, like buttons, handles, and a much more discrete display. I drove teslas (3, Y, X), my wife has a VW ID.4 full option, i have this EQB 250+ Star Edition (like the AMG edition). The teslas and even the ID.4 have more power, but you just don't need that, it's already difficult enough not to get speeding tickets. The teslas have the worst driving and noise experience, the ID.4 drives better than the teslas, but the EQB is BY FAR the best driving car of these 3. Silent, comfy, well engineerd.

Come on guys. The cheapest MB EQB250+ in the Netherlands is about 65.000$ and it's without options. I remember Ford just released a EV that has a range in the winter of about 30 miles!!! So 210 average is not bad at all. The seats might be an issue. I agree on that. But for sure there must be more options aviable with seats? Look inside how nice it looks compared to a Tesla. Tesla inside is very boring. For 50K you get a nice MB with a few drawbacks. Maybe instead of buying the extra row of seats for 1500$ you should have bought better seats with only 2 rows? Maybe the setup if better then?

Guys, you are reviewing the “B” class Mercedes. It means it is COMPACT. No place for 6’ men. It must be small by design. Sorry to disappoint, duh. However, the small range is a really serious issue. Thanks for reporting.
