3k is a deal you could really get a cheap little beater of the offroading o. That kinda budget. I knew a guy that took old jeep cherokees and ge woukd offroad them aorund town and when rhey busted he turned it into a parts car and bought another running one cheap that was half busted and hed combine the two and go offroading again.

Glad to see the cheap jeep series back. Not everyone can drop $55-70k on a Rubicon and then another $20k modifying it. Sometimes you gotta buy what you can afford, which may be a $3300 Liberty. And any truck with 4lo with a good set of tires will take you further than you think.

Of all the 4x4's you could potentially buy the Liberty would be very very low on the list, I'd rather have a geo tracker or bronco 2. It might be the worst actual 4x4 with a low range box ever made.

@malcolmn.5222 I've never been afraid of high miles..I have had many vehicles with 200k miles or more. But regardless, a KJ from the auction with that many miles seems too high at 3k. If it was private party, then sure but not from auction.

This is such an awesome series. I'd be stoked to see this with 3 cheap german off roaders (ML, Touareg, Cayenne etc.) or 3 cheap japanese off roaders too! I know the Touareg has been done to death on this channel but I just can't get enough of 'em! Maybe the cheapest version of each would be interesting (not a nicely sorted one like last time).

I had a 2002 Jeep liberty that had the full AND part time transfer case. I loved that thing. Drove it 240k miles before a slipped timing chain took it out. I completely own up to that because it was giving me warning signs long before It failed, and stopped all maintanance besides brakes and oil after 160k. Chicago rust had already taken its toll by that point and it was essentially valueless because of it. Otherwise, it was a great vehicle for my needs.
@ersrvd Жыл бұрын
My father's Jeep Liberty had the same P0750 problem. Under hard acceleration it shifted into second gear and stayed there. The walk around I used was to stop the car, turn it off and then start the engine again. That solved the problem temporarily.
@Wearyman Жыл бұрын
When you guys said you bought Jeeps at auction I half was hoping one of you had bought my old Liberty I turned in last year. it had a lift, larger mud tires and a steel replacement bumper. it was great off road, but getting rusty, so I got me a new Nissan Frontier, which I love. I have to admit though, I miss old Libby.

Did you know the liberty was originally supposed to be a variant of the cherokee! They changed it to liberty quickly before release in honor of the events 9-11 but in some countries you can still find them badged as a cherokee
@wafive Жыл бұрын
They were sold in Australia as a Cherokee. "Liberty" could not be used by Jeep in Australia, as the name was already in use by Subaru. The car known as the "Legacy" in the rest of the world, was renamed "Liberty here, as "Legacy" is the name of a charitable organisation that takes car of KIA Soldiers families. If I recall, they objected to a Japanese car maker sharing the name.
@jeepinbanditrider Жыл бұрын
It was sold everywhere else other than the US as the Cherokee. It wasnt meant as a "variant" It was straight up meant to replace the XJ.

Not a "variant" so much as the replacement for the XJ. But XJ sales were too strong in the US, so they sold it as a different vehicle. Elsewhere, it did take over as the new model Cherokee.

I'm up north and rust is the monster to be dealt with here. I winter undercoated it and hoping for good results. I'll be doing this yearly. I've got a total of 6k into it and happy! Cheers!

Good job Andre. I had a 08 Durango with that 3.7 V6 and had zero issues with it and got up to 307k miles before hurricane Harvey wiped it out. Never any major issues but the trans did start to jerk from first to second. It didn’t slip at all just a random jerk from time to time. I would it another one if a deal came along.

great video. a liberty is absolutely a real jeep, just without all the extra toys built in. you'll have to actually drive them. Please, please do more than just take them on slickrock(i.e. Hells revenge), though. it would be great to see them actually go up some non-slick-rocks. the 3-D trail is very filmable and has several super-cool climbs that would look great on a video.

Hey guys! You likely had a dipstick with you! Both generations of liberty use the same transmission, but chrysler deleted the dipstick on the KK and came up with an overly complex check procedure. Luckily If you use the kj dipstick and drop it in until it touches the pan at operating temperature, the measurements are the same as the dumb chrysler chart and fancy dipstick!
