I can't believe the cabs these days. I drove a tractor with no seat cushion left, you had to lean forward to avoid the bolt in the center back, no rotating seats, and definitely no cab. Just me, diesel smoke, and whatever the weather was (usually 90+ with 70-90% humidity) Good times tho, I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Talking about your driver coming up from Texas and must love driving...... I ran tractor trailers for UPS for 41 years and spent a lot of that time running cross country. Used to run L.A. to Dallas twice a week, 6,000 miles a week. Yeah, I love driving too!

Dougo, get yourself some ski goggles. I use a set tinted orange for hunting. Makes a huge difference. The orange or yellow tint take glare out of seeing deer in the fields. Like seeing them in HIGH Definition.

If you think they are impressive go checkout some of the people who work small farms who don't have the credit or money to call for a new tractor when theirs breaks and instead spend the night with a welder and torch fixing it. There's big money new equipment farming and then there's back breaking barely making a living farming. There's no inbetween anymore.

I think maybe pulling the tile plow might have caused that crack. We had a neighbor break his pulling a tile plow. My father and I have a 580 quadtrac we love it. Plenty of power and a smooth ride. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !

Chet I’ve seen a track frame break like that before. And it was while pulling two 18 yard miskin scrapers. Case told us they had never seen it before either, and blamed it on the scraper. Said when turning under a full load was probably the blame. Who knows. And Dougo, you need tactical goggles, look them up in the ole Amazon.

I knew it wasn't a one off break. I'm guessing the hitch side pull from pulling the huge grain cart does it. 120,000 pound grain cart on tracks. Every time you turn the steering wheel on the QT, it is moving the hitch side to side. I'm guessing the sides failed before the top and bottom.

I'm using that busted quad-track as an example in the future that things will still brake no matter how much money you spend on something or how often you do preventive maintenance. Sick of people on the web saying that things like "PMs will prevent breakdowns" and stuff like that.

SOU6900 preventative maintenance has never been about no letting a part or machine break down. Through tracking (RCM for the 10 pound brains) the engineers and the OEM design tasks to keep the machine or part running as long as possible. The extra lubrications/fluid changes keep the machine running at peak performance longer. The inspection tasks are designed to catch a defect before it gets to bad which cost more time and money to repair. As BWM stated Earth reclaims EVERYTHING, eventually.

A major assembly cracks?? That's pretty whack. The damn B52 is 50 years old and still flying and it's a lot more sophisticated than a tractor suspension. Especially the rear arm as opposed to the front. JMHO

I get a little excited when something that expensive has a major break on a suspension component. I agree that there should be red flags on that part on other tractors if there was a systemic flaw but we don't have access to that like Case should have. Look at all the Porsche's that had stupid sealed IMS bearings go bad and after the recall only 8% took advantage of it. 7 years -20 years- how do you stress that back roller? The ground pressure is so low that I would think the back arm should rust before it breaks. I don't know.

@@gregjames5070 Sorry, a tile plow isn't a bad load. Most of the time the tractor engine is idling, not delivering full power. A big ripper in frost puts a heavier shock load on the tractor than the tile plow.

Odds are the initial crack happened by a sharp hit of the the trailing wheel in the track maybe a a large pumpkin size rock got turned up just enough by the bogey wheels and then the rear drive hit it starting the crack. Then wear and tear over time weakening the beam itself then finally gave out. Could have started weeks months or more than a year ago. So now it is something you will look for and that is a crack at that point of the track assembly.

@BWM a) You can weld cast iron. Check out SiBr. b) It's a weldment. @10:49 It must cost a fortune to have the dealer come out with a truck to pick up the tractor and fix it. $150/hr.

@BWM The broken piece is a weldment. Unless there is a an update to the design the new piece will break just like the old piece. They would have been better off to remove the broken piece and fix it while updating its strength. And do the one on the other side while they are at it, because sooner or later it will break too. It's funny to watch farmers. On one hand they complain about the price of the product they grow and on the other hand they spend money like crazy on equipment.

@Doc Savage that's interesting what your saying about the issues with the DT 610, we've received delivery of our 1st 2 units and have run some hours up on them already. So far no issues, actually to be honest we're really impressed with the performance so far. My uncle runs these units and has a unit with some 3000+ hours and so far no issues.

Chet, That tile plow is the reason for the broken roller frame. Adjustment of the angle of the plow tip is critical to lessen the horsepower required to pull it. If the adjustment is too far off pulling the plow will be more difficult. When raising the plow out of the ground the weight of the plow and the resistance of raising it places more weight of the rear of the roller frame. A wheel kit for the plow would take care of most of the loading issues the back of the tractor. Also if rocks are a problem in your area this adds to the resistance. Always remember that the leverage from the plow is always changing based on the plow depth. Good luck on this. I would be worried the parts would be hard to locate since there has been design change on the roller frame.

You can have that crack analyzed for short money. I'm still amazed at how specific a materials lab can be in identifying the cause of these metal failures. I'll bet my left nut that failure is a manufacturing defect; probably an inclusion (cheap Chinese steel). If possible, let us know what the outcome of this repair is! Pitter Patter! Jim

For the failure in the dryer control room - the equip is generating so much heat, and since the room is so hot, the equip is really hot, and the likely cause of the failure of the control unit. Hopefully when it cools down it will come back to life, but may be fried. You could put a large van (2' dia would be nice) blowing on both control panels with their doors open that might be enough to keep them cool. Good luck.

As a commercial gas engineer, I can tell you the big aluminium part on top of the gas valve is a actuator and modulates the gas depending on temperature, I would get the service engineer to check the valve as if its not modulating correctly it could light at 100% and go bang.

We use Wiley X glasses when we deploy overseas (Air Force) to keep the dirt and sand out of our eyes. They're also safety glasses and are a sunglasses type...not a goggles type. They work really well. Seal up good enough to keep the jet exhaust from sneaking dirt and sand in there.

Sorry your quad track broke down. Never fails that it happens at harvest time. Glad you could get a tractor to fill in until yours is fixed. Never seen one brake like that. Quads are usually very good at not braking down. The work on the dryer was interesting. I am getting from your videos that the dryers take a lot of looking after. Interesting how you adjust the heat level. Appreciate you showing us those issues and your fixes. Do not know anything better on goggles than what you have on. Corn had better come up in price soon...China has lost approximately 70% of its agricultural production due to flooding. Their corn production was down 35% last year. Grain prices are being manipulated (IMF? National ag agencies?) prevent food shortage panic. It's coming... Some are estimating nearly 100% food inflation by end of year. Australia will be out of rice in less than a month. They contracted with Vietnam to make up their DOMESTIC shortage. Vietnam reneged on contract...they're ceasing export. They don't have enough for themselves. US and perhaps Brazil will be the only countries exporting. Grand Solar Minimum is upon us. Sun's electromagnetic radiation will continue to diminish throughout the decade, before slowly increasing back to normal over the next 40-60 years. Temperatures shouldn't decline that much; but growing seasons will be shortened. Mid-east has been receiving "2500 year" rainfall. The "Fertile Crescent" is back. You need to get PAID MORE NOW.

@@SwitchRod No grain shortage over here in Australia We're looking at an average year over in the west and over east theyre having the first year out of drought for some time So our over all country production will be double precious years Remember we have almost no local processing so it'll all be hitting the export market I wouldn't be reading too much into the Chinese floods either We farm corn across the border in Russia as well The damage from 3 tyhoons was quite bad but its held better than expected Itll still be harvest able with maybe a 30% loss The real unknown is North Korea They copped the brunt of the damage but no one will say publicly what damage they have But they wouldn't import anyway they'll just let the population starve like usual

I was thinking the same thing given what I saw with that break. One way to tell is if there's any rust, if so , where. If not, then you can bet that broken part will find its way back to Case for some 'form' of examination.

I've seen a crack like that on other equipment that started from small nick in the metal. I would have welded it and run it till the new parts showed up. But that's what I do for a living.

I would have to look at it for crystallization, but that was my first thought as well. And if it was internal, it wouldn't be detected without a magnetic scan, or catastrophic failure. And Larson Farms does not have a magno tester ;)

Larson's have the advantage of our eyeballs. Case will make it right. When I saw that crack, I figured it wasn't normal. KZbin is the witness. Larson's won't have to say much.

Try Motorcycle goggles. Lots of different types and styles on Amazon and Ebay. You might do ok with ski goggles too. They even make ski goggles with little fans to help eliminate the sweat/moissture. Good luck.

Its not the tongue weight as you say but that beam must take the physical weight of the machine and the starting load adding to it. In other words the torque of the track. my guess is it is just too weak. From the footage it looks like a fatigue crack so either it has a poor transition, poor manufacturing such as under cut welds at the join. My guess is that the other ones will give trouble too. With finite analysis used in design these days these failures should never occur.

Best goggles I have found so far are Bolle Trackers I’m a heavy vehicle mechanic and wear them all day everyday great eye coverage and don’t steam up 🤙🏽. Keep up the great vids guys love watching

Swimming goggles might work they don't let water in so they shouldn't let in air maybe... but I'm sure you done tried them first

3m safety glasses. If you get fog you might have bacteria. They sell boxes that have holders for glasses with uv lamp and a timer. It will sanitize glasses for the next use. And keep spares.
