If you are running two 1000W power supplies and your voltage is drooping below 120V you are pulling too much power on a single circuit Distribute the load across two different circuits Also make sure your test bench isn't on the same circuit as something using a lot of wattage (ie those giant coolers) If you are doing something as nuts as this you should have a dedicated circuit to your CPU PSU, a dedicated circuit to your GPU PSU, and a dedicated circuit for the coolers You also want to be careful of hooking up a 1000W power supply to a really long low gauge extension cord, the longer the cord the higher the amps, it will over heat the cord, and cause voltage droop Get at least a 12 gauge 3 wire and run it at just the right length Having your voltage droop was probably what gave you guys so many OC issues, if you tried to push the clock after getting the electrical sorted you might have been able to push the system further

don't know how it is in canada, but in germany we have like the average 230V power, which is your 120V i guess, but we also get at least 1 connection of heavy current 3 phase 400V for ovens. building a small transformation panel to get that 3 phase 400V down to your average 120V you could pull crazy wattage from there. Or get a UPS which inputs the 3 phase power and got multiple 120V outputs.
@depriety4625

Couldn't they just have travelled into a country where they output 230/240V? That should run a lot more stable, right?

@@Silhalnor More conductivity. The dry ice doesnt melt, it sublimates and its much cooler than ice. Downside is you cant circulate dry ice so you have to physcially add more to it. Yeah, but they want to lock it to a higher power state than what the resistor allowed. So they would have to put in a different resistor. But I guess at that time the whole rig had become such a franken monster they did not want to disassemble, put the resistor, reassemble, test - only to find out it does not work. I think what Anthony meant was that he could lock it temporarily and test it and if it does not work try different power states and see which one works. Changing resistors for that would not be feasible.

@ It's done in a rig that's can be used for many different setups. They'd have to create a new rig for only that one thing that you typically do once or twice a year at most. The time and effort invested would be astronomically high compared to the incovenience of having to hold fans for a few minutes. Not to mention that while you're working on the custom rig, everything is inverted which in itself would be either weird or simply impractical. And then again, you have the fact that the method would not solve the problem with moisture.

Copper is a better thermal conductor than aluminum. Silver is a (marginally) better thermal conductor than copper. You know which material blows them both away? Graphene. You know what is close to graphene's thermal conductivity, but FAR cheaper? Graphite. 1. Build a graphite heat sink, designed for horizontal installation, with walls to act as a liquid reservoir 2. Nebulize a coolant (i.e. distilled water and/or pure alcohol, kept just below vaporization temperature) DIRECTLY onto the surface of the graphite heat sink (i.e. like a fuel-injector), at a metered rate (adjust rate according to observed/measured results; an automated controller and sensor package are probably needed) 3. Use a fan to blow climate-controlled air (or inert gas) across the surface of the heat sink in a closed system with the exhaust-pipe (see step 5) 4. Operate the entire system in a climate-controlled box (or room), segregated from the operator (i.e. eliminate environmental variables), and optimize the humidity, temperature, and pressure for fast (but, not TOO fast) vaporization of the coolant (i.e. the heat in the heat sink should CAUSE the vaporization; losing 2260 J/g to water or 841 J/g to ethanol, through vaporization, instead of 4.184 J/g x dT-Celsius for NO PHASE CHANGE water) 5. Exhaust the vapor via a collector pipe (i.e. like a distillery) to the external environment (i.e. NOT the climate-controlled "box"), where it can be collected for disposal or (potential) reuse... after it has been cleared of any contaminants 6. Install the reservoir in an operator accessible environment, connected by hose or pipe to the system, and keep the reservoir "topped off" If my hypotheses are correct, the above could be a great way to maintain the OPTIMAL operating temperature of CPUs/GPUs... instead of dangerous attempts to reach the COLDEST operating temperature. You're not working with superconductors, qbits, or radio telescopes. Colder is not NECESSARILY better. This cooling system, I imagine, would require R&D on EVERY STEP to reach optimal performance. Or, just run a chilled, electrically-non-conductive coolant over the entire system... similar to an "endless swimming pool"... which would eliminate the possibility of condensation on the circuits. Maybe that will work. But, please... stop using "Three Stooges" cooling solutions: "Our cooling solution uses a HEAT GUN!" smh

the blowymatrons actually worsen it. you get even more condensation on the waterblocks and socket. if you just put some paper towels to soak up the condensation and to insulate it a bit, there will be way less condensation compared to fans blowing on it. if you have sub-ambient components, they will pull water out of the air, if you supply the components with more and more water-rich air, it will be able to pull more water out of the air, and have more condensation build up.
@albertjordan3249
@albertjordan3249 6 жыл бұрын
I think the idea is that the blowers are supposed to warm the area while the components are not under load in order to prevent/reduce condensation from happening. Of course if they could turn it off temporarily or (ideally) use a variable speed pump to control the flow of coolant so that it doesn't cause condensation... would be neat if you could connect it through fan control to automatically adjust flow rate as temps fluctuate.
@JonteTheMan1
@JonteTheMan1 6 жыл бұрын
Sure, insulation would have been a thousand times better but I wouldn't say worsen it. The increased air flow provides more energy for the water to evaporate instead of just dripping down on the components.
@TheDarkTiamat2011
@TheDarkTiamat2011 6 жыл бұрын
@romancase with the ambient temps of lets say 20°C you can never warm the area with this chilled cooling liquid which probably is around 0°C.
@TheDarkTiamat2011
@TheDarkTiamat2011 6 жыл бұрын
@mr jönte-dps it actually is making it worse. the increased air provides more fresh air with water vapor in it, providing more water to condensate on the colder waterblock. the fresh air is in fact delivering even more water, so in fact making things worse. the condensated water isnt evaporating into the air, bec. its colder than the ambient temperature, and even getting cooled by the waterblock. so either do no fans, or insulate it. but dont worsen it by putting up fans and supply the cold waterblock with more and more water-rich air so that water can condensate even faster on the waterblock
@Blehlogist
@Blehlogist 6 жыл бұрын
I doubt they went that far. Imo, they were just trying to dry the condensation as its forming
