Yeah, but they want to lock it to a higher power state than what the resistor allowed. So they would have to put in a different resistor. But I guess at that time the whole rig had become such a franken monster they did not want to disassemble, put the resistor, reassemble, test - only to find out it does not work. I think what Anthony meant was that he could lock it temporarily and test it and if it does not work try different power states and see which one works. Changing resistors for that would not be feasible.

If you are running two 1000W power supplies and your voltage is drooping below 120V you are pulling too much power on a single circuit Distribute the load across two different circuits Also make sure your test bench isn't on the same circuit as something using a lot of wattage (ie those giant coolers) If you are doing something as nuts as this you should have a dedicated circuit to your CPU PSU, a dedicated circuit to your GPU PSU, and a dedicated circuit for the coolers You also want to be careful of hooking up a 1000W power supply to a really long low gauge extension cord, the longer the cord the higher the amps, it will over heat the cord, and cause voltage droop Get at least a 12 gauge 3 wire and run it at just the right length Having your voltage droop was probably what gave you guys so many OC issues, if you tried to push the clock after getting the electrical sorted you might have been able to push the system further

Or get a UPS which inputs the 3 phase power and got multiple 120V outputs.

@CanIHasThisName6 жыл бұрын
@ It's done in a rig that's can be used for many different setups. They'd have to create a new rig for only that one thing that you typically do once or twice a year at most. The time and effort invested would be astronomically high compared to the incovenience of having to hold fans for a few minutes. Not to mention that while you're working on the custom rig, everything is inverted which in itself would be either weird or simply impractical. And then again, you have the fact that the method would not solve the problem with moisture.

he was using it to reduce condensation on the board. if youve seen some do ln2 overclocking they aim a heat gun directly at the vrms of the mother board. maybe not vrms i forget. but they aim it at a portion of the mother board to keep it from condensating. you only want the cpu to be cool you want the rest of the board to stay warm. you just dont aim it at the cpu

the blowymatrons actually worsen it. you get even more condensation on the waterblocks and socket. if you just put some paper towels to soak up the condensation and to insulate it a bit, there will be way less condensation compared to fans blowing on it. if you have sub-ambient components, they will pull water out of the air, if you supply the components with more and more water-rich air, it will be able to pull more water out of the air, and have more condensation build up.
@albertjordan32496 жыл бұрын
I think the idea is that the blowers are supposed to warm the area while the components are not under load in order to prevent/reduce condensation from happening. Of course if they could turn it off temporarily or (ideally) use a variable speed pump to control the flow of coolant so that it doesn't cause condensation... would be neat if you could connect it through fan control to automatically adjust flow rate as temps fluctuate.
@JonteTheMan16 жыл бұрын
Sure, insulation would have been a thousand times better but I wouldn't say worsen it. The increased air flow provides more energy for the water to evaporate instead of just dripping down on the components.
@TheDarkTiamat20116 жыл бұрын
@romancase with the ambient temps of lets say 20°C you can never warm the area with this chilled cooling liquid which probably is around 0°C.
@TheDarkTiamat20116 жыл бұрын
@mr jönte-dps it actually is making it worse. the increased air provides more fresh air with water vapor in it, providing more water to condensate on the colder waterblock. the fresh air is in fact delivering even more water, so in fact making things worse. the condensated water isnt evaporating into the air, bec. its colder than the ambient temperature, and even getting cooled by the waterblock. so either do no fans, or insulate it. but dont worsen it by putting up fans and supply the cold waterblock with more and more water-rich air so that water can condensate even faster on the waterblock
@Blehlogist6 жыл бұрын

and you would probably want to use 'dry' nitrogen as well. and make sure no moisture can diffuse in. a helium/nitrogen filled case seems pretty boss. ....I think nitrogen conducts heat better too which makes for more efficient convective cooling of other board components with the chiller doing the main cooling.
@mycosys6 жыл бұрын
Or just use a phase chillbox where any water will condense on the aircon elements, THEN start up the phase loop too
@km54056 жыл бұрын
it might still be able to absorb less water vapour. but if not then helium is the only way for permanent lack of condensation. flooding it with dry nitrogen would already greatly reduce it as it is heavier and would displace the air. even if water vapour would still slowly diffuse back into it.
