Day 3 was ROUGH... I went into the day thinking it was going to be THE day for a good pass. The air felt good. The tune seemed perfected. Everything felt like it was finally right. Buttt the 55 had other plans and it just decided to cause all the issues. I mean, it could have been worse, I suppose. Tag along to diagnose it with us on the spot! (It's not as easy as you may think.)

Hey Alex, I noticed when the guy's were talking, they had your full attention. It looked like you were taking in every word they said. Also, your father has the patience of a saint. It's the simple things that you see on you tube that make me appreciate. Nice job Dennis Taylor, your kid has twice the common sense than 90% of the others that portray racing on these interwebs. Case in point A. Getting towed without ripping the strap off/dragging brake, B. Getting out of throttle and out of groove when it was obviously mad and puking.

It was cool seeing you guys (all Sick Week-ers) in person at Gainesville Raceway 😎 2:09 JFYI on pouring out of a new pail (whether it be oil, fuel, whatever). It won't glug-glug and make a mess if you turn the pail so the opening/air is at the top. It will glug some in the begging but not nearly as bad and after the first couple of quarts it will pour more/faster when you keep the pail angled where it doesn't glug😜

The first time someone told me to turn the 5 gallon oil tank so the pour spout was on the top I thought they were crazy, but it lets the air in to displace the oil that’s coming out so it doesn’t glug out and spill all over., Sammy way works with gallon radiator coolant jugs. It only took me 45 years to learn it.

Pour full 5 gallon buckets with the spout on top. Or slightly to the side on the top. It’s easier. :)

Spray pledge wood wax on the rear of the car and do not wipe. It’s a funny car trick we do every run so rubber and dirt won’t stick to any thing. DO NOT get it on the tires.

Alex, I wish my daughters were more like you. Im always in the Garage tinkering with one of my many, very fast motorcycles. Or my one and only old reliable muscle car. 68 superbee 440, 4spd, Dana 60. They act like their allergic to the garage and get some kind of rash when they enter, the Power Cave. Have been watching the vids of you and Your dad working on the 55 or tearing into the drive train. When my youngest is sitting next to me. Just hoping she'll start asking me questions on why or what your doing. So the process of her becoming interested in the love of bad ass cars, that we all share. Alex is always good to get a video from you and your Quest for the 6s. I know broke downs are part of racing, but we can see how disappointed you felt after knowing how bad things were. Your dad is amazing how calm he was, just got down to business looking for the solutions and trying to fix the problems. Hopefully you guys can fixed to run the remaining of sick week, but like you said, this is only the beginning of your racing season and is better look at the big picture instead of trying to run and risk more parts in the engine. Waiting for the next video. Be safe and go fast.

It is quite an undertaking to do one of these events at the levels you are heading to. You all keep a good attitude when you have issues, I am sure you will be successful next time!!

Next time, get a pair of stock heads that fit your engine.. that way.. you can swap,, complete a pass and move the car around while the primo heads get repaired.. in time you can do a light polish and port on the stockers just to improve your pass time

So have you got an EGT reading on that number 1 cylinder to see if it was a massive lean out? That video at the end where your dad was spinning the valve makes me think you have got hot in that cylinder and "sucked" a valve. It explains all the symptoms.

Hang in there girl, your pa is so very calm and direct, but you come first! You know that? Right? A great team, go get em. 🤔. A spare set of heads for your birthday could be a spectacular thing, not to heavy! in boxes ready to install? Bam! Ready to roll. This is what we know, valve train, ultra important, so much stress, spare cam, p-rods, lifters, and complete ready to install heads! So easy to carry spares, not much weight, and heads require a full complement of rockers. Busy season so the best is yet to come. Stay pretty! Girl you have got that one slapped. And knowledge, you and your dad have that too. So wishing you and pa, whole family! But your pa is co-pilot, chief mechanic and all around nice guy! So it's automatic that l say you and your pa.
