Congrats. It looks like you took the time and spent the money to ensure it lasts a long time. I got one of these kits from Keen last summer (3x8 model) and we’re loving it. We installed a 100watt industrial outdoor LED light fixture so we can skate it at night. Be sure to tarp it when it rains. Since the ramp is leveled, if you don’t tarp it the water will soak through to the non water resistant layers below. We also put a layer of roofing tar paper between the second and final layer to help with moisture.

Awesome! I built minis at two different houses back in the 80s and 90s. It really transformed my skating. I predict that your mini ramp game is going to go through the roof. Get some!

And the neighbors are like, "and we just started to like this guy!" Haha. Best thing ever though. We "I" had one in college. We had 50 bucks and a car port. 2 days later, we had a mini ramp! Nice to be young with energy. I skated that thing every day. Used to roll a blunt to fakie (trick, not drug :) right before I went to class. Those were the days. I definitely DO want another one, but the time isn't right for me. Personally, I'd go without the skatelite (make the neighbors even angrier becaus3e skatelite lowers the noise level) because I like the look and feel of natural wood. I'd just treat the heck out of it due to Florida weather. Thanks for the inspiration, Jason! Subscribed for sure. Nice view of the ocean too. Must be nice (I'm in Orlando, FL).

There's just no way to keep a ramp outdoors without gator skins or skatelite anymore. The plywood today is crap with a paper thin veneer that peels off no matter what you try to waterproof it with. By the time you waterproof it and get a cover that actually works, you might as well buy the good stuff.

Ive had that same dream my whole life and am planning on buying the exact same ramp soon. One thing I’m torn on is the extension. Now that you’ve had yours do you wish you got the extension or are you glad you kept it symmetrical?
@JasonParkSucks2 жыл бұрын
Ah that’s awesome! Personally while an extension would be fun, I like the symmetry of my ramp and feel like it’s more fun in the long run. If I had a longer mini an extension on one end would be fun but for the size of mine I like it without! Also if you’re ordering through Keen Ramps you can use my promo code “Potatobody” for 10% off to save some money, hope you have fun with the ramp when you get it!
@joeykaseta12462 жыл бұрын
@@JasonParkSucks yeah that’s kinda how I fell. The extension would be fun but not at the sacrifice of one side basically being 8ft wide. Sadly I already checked and your promo code doesn’t for for the mini. Must be limited to smaller ticket items. I will be able to apply a 5% first purchase discount though for creating an account on keens website.

you should stick some strips of bike innertube folded over on itself once or twice under the coping. otherwise you will be everyone's lease favorite neighbor. you can also throw a bunch of stuff under the ramp to get rid of the cavernous echo.
@TheFloridaBikeVlogger2 жыл бұрын
didn't you paint over the blue dots tho?
@JasonParkSucks2 жыл бұрын
The blue dots are only on the plywood underneath the skatelite - the exterior panels all have pre-drilled holes where the screws go so that the final product looks clean!

Jawdrop at 6:12. The old Cantilever.... I've seen guys do that while shoring up decks for concrete on High Rise buildings. I had to grab one dude's harness and keep him from going all the way. Be careful, Brother.

I may be wrong but Skatelite is the actual specific specialty plywood sheeting used to deck the ramp with.
@JasonParkSucks2 жыл бұрын
Yup! It’s an optional upgrade from birch for the top layer, personally I think skatelite makes a world of difference especially living somewhere like Hawaii
@williammadray78182 жыл бұрын
@@JasonParkSucks I believe there is another brand of sheathing for skating too; Gatorskin. It's manufactured here in Florida I think,and a bit more inexpensive. I think the next big thing is going to be surfskate ramps and they are going to spring up like swimming pools here in Florida. Anybody that can ride a dinghy/cruiser can surfskate and progress if you practice.

the riser idea was bad imo. it is way to high on all sides. the low side should slightly off the ground. plus you centered the the edge with the risers. the riser edge should be flush with edge of the ramp. ankle breakers for sure. be careful. no railing either. "With that being said" it's way better than the one i have. you could build a deck that matches the sides so there is no dangerous ride or walk offs.
