Suggestion for next year…….. keep all your compostable kitchen waste (no meat or fish or bones though) and all the fallen tree leaves you can take up in the fall and build a compost box with a cover so the contents stay dry (that’s really important) and let it rot down over the winter. In the spring fork the compost heap over to mix the contents and add more all the time. After a couple of years you will have a good mulch to add to your raised bed. Also go online and buy 2lbs of live earthworms to add to the raised bed as worms also make the soil healthier. Do be careful with the weed mesh in the bottom that it doesn’t obstruct drainage otherwise you will end up with a big smelly waterlogged weed bed!

I used to yeet my gardening waste between three conifers in my garden. A couple of years ago I removed the 3 little conifers (leaving the 2 biggest ones) and found I had inadvertently made enough compost for lots of containers, and for the shrubs and flowers that went in their place. Now I love composting :)

See if there are any grants in your area for high tunnels. Next time i would advise putting some protection on the wood. It won't last that long without. Find out when your last frost date is before you put anything outside. I think you might quickly realise you want more growing space than that. You could plant a fairly sizeable area of potato with minimal input required.

2x6 is the size when it is first cut in lumber yard, it then loses a bit when drying and then the rough finish is machined off so its actual finished size is always 0.5inches smaller. 2x6 will always be 1.5x5.5 finished dimension.

What you purchased were pre cut 2x6 studs for wall framing. Most places also sell full 2x6x8' lumber. The precut studs are used for wall framing so you don't have to cut off 3 3/8" to make an exact 8' high wall.

Nice job on the garden bed and when the plants are ready you can make some cooking videos with your home grown produce 👍🏼

Great job on the bed i would however have put it closer to the house. My garden is seriously sloped, i just made trenches to level it off. I also don't like using that plastic weed barrier stuff, it'll last a year or two before it starts breaking up then you've got bits of plastic mixed in with your soil. I use plain brown cardboard instead, it does the job preventing germinating grass seeds before it decomposes, thats all thats really needed. I would have used a little of that clay soil around the edges (especially if you've done trenches) but thats it. For a filler i would have used the copious tree branches and logs you have scattered around the area. They will decompose and feed your soil leaving air pockets to airiate the soil, the little gaps in the warped wood can help with this too. Then i would have thrown the top soil on top of the wood followed by the good stuff, although personally i like to use a mix of brands. The good compost you added there looked like ex-mushroom growing soil, which is good stuff but don't be surprised if you get a few mushrooms popping through.

One trick to keep the cat off the beds and using as a litter is to dry out a load of brambles and lay them out all over the top. They're also good for deterring slugs once your plants get going. Pricklier the better.

A tip for growing your tomatoes once you've plated them. Place an unopened used tea bag at the bottom of the hole with the plant on top. Place the soil around the plant then open two used tea bags and place the leaves around the bottom of the plant then water. The Caffeine from the tea helps the plant grow quicker and produce more tomatoes. You could plat one without the tea bags to see if it's true or not.

Could the word you were trying to think of be seedlings? Why are so many invested in keeping a cat inside, this cat clearly loves to be outside, i'm sure JT and Anna let him in if he wants to go in, cats enjoy nature and roaming, they get a lot of stimulus from being outside and it helps to keep their claws in check, yes there is other wildlife out there that could harm him but that's just nature, stop trying to cage this animal.

The sticks, leaves, etc breakdown and provide ongoing nutrients for years to come

Exterior stain is only to be used on treated lumber, which is not recommended for food related projects. If you want to preserve the untreated lumber that is what they are using, use a good exterior latex primer and a good latex paint. both are safe for food related projects.
