Throw a reducer on the outlet under the boat and she will go faster. I used to drill piling holes for marinas with a similar pump and a (30') 2.5" "jet pipe". At the end we had a 2.5''' to 1'' reducer and it was powerful enough to carve out massive holes in the clay lake bed where I needed piling to go in.

That makes sense. Basically you’re adding way more velocity for the same pressure. Also this looks like a semi-trash pump which might not be as good as a high pressure pump. A high pressure pump would produce double the pressure.

Not convince with the 90 they can achieve a laminar flow without loosing a ton of GPM wich if the case they will achieve nothing. We are not talking of and impaler in a pipe reving at crazy speed barely building up pressure. Just ading a straight pipe on the 90 will reduce turbulence a lot without loosing to much displacement. If they rev higher pressure will go pretty high with this kind of impaler.

To be fair. Ghpc saw the mini jet boat on Cleetus McFarlands channel and copied his idea to make a tiny jet boat. They just actually followed through quickly because Garrett has so many more things going on and can't get to his. Basically bought the same boat and fast tracked the building of it before cleetus had a chance to and attracting views towards themselves when people search for mini jet boat after watching the cleetus video.

You really need to increase the pressure coming out of the pump if you want to increase your speed. Try putting a smaller (nozzle) on the outlet. And put a lip on the back side of the inlet (pickup) so it feeds more water in easier when your moving.
@legro19
@legro19 2 жыл бұрын
Don't need pressure at all only GPM. More you displace water more faster you go. 300 GPM pump at 8 psi will do better than a 100 GPM at 60 psi pump.
@legro19
@legro19 2 жыл бұрын
Btw to get more pressure they just have to rev faster.
@SilvaDreams
@SilvaDreams 2 жыл бұрын
@@legro19 Yes but you end up hitting a wall because of weight of the pump and it's like having a huge engine with lots of power and torque.. But a low ratio transmission. They just have a wide open pipe as the output you need some compression at the nozzle for better speed as it increases the speed of the water coming out.
@legro19
@legro19 2 жыл бұрын
@@SilvaDreams The reason they put a restriction on jet boat is because it's an impaler in a pipe. The water is not going in straing ligne perpendicular to the pipe axis. she is spiraling in it (turbulence) so your water move slower on your axis but adding a restriction force it to accelerate to keep pressure equilibrium by doing so she stop spiraling and start moving perpendicular to the flow (laminar flow). Now they don't have a impaler in a pipe he is in a housing with a 90 at the exit and it's on purpose. So they don't have that much turbulence in it just a straight pipe will stabilise enough. Maybe using a bell like on jet boat (don't know the real name of the part) wich create aspiration at the exit of the pipe and direct the flow will help without reducing the volume of water exiting the pump.

Get rid of the underwater outlet. Jet drives work on reaction to the water blast. Not from pushing against the surrounding water. Jet boats discharge water into the air when the boat is on plane. Also like many have said reduce the outlet size a little to increase velocity.

You need to constrict the outlet. A job I worked at used the same type of pump with an old fashioned brass fire nozzle and the force coming out of it was tremendous. One guy made the mistake of letting go of it, and it whipped all over the place and nearly beat him to death before we could shut the pump down. You need more velocity coming from the outlet, and simply adding more horsepower won't help with that by itself. Think in terms of an attachment to a garden hose. 3/16" diameter attachment on a 3/4" diameter hose equals a stream with a lot of force. That's what you need to make your "boat" go faster. Maybe not fast, but at least faster. Good luck, and we'll be watching. (Love your channel) NOB

I work with waterjet powered boats a bit at my job, some key points: 1. That pump will be like putting a v10 in a 60s Ford to make it go 80mph, its meant for low end loads. 2. Go for an angled inlet. The fast ones are like 15-25 degrees, but I bet 45 would be good enough. 3. As others said, DEFINITELY need a nozzle/reducer on the outlet. Not sure how you'd do it, but in the real thing, the nozzle rotates to turn the boat.
