there is a much simpler way to draw transitions. don't use string, or awkward 2x4's, use wire/cable. any kind that doesn't stretch. just keep it taut and keep the drawing end of the wire close to the tip of your pencil. the 2x4 method allows for more movement of the pencil than this method. this method is better and it's really easy.

Do you have plans available? I love the way you managed to cut out all four transitions from a single sheet, wondering what the dimensions are to achieve that.

Hey Just wanted to Say this video really helped me Out. I wanted to build a mini I’m my basement for my Youngest son and I. I’m still working on adding the Masonite , buts it’s ridable and it’s a blast!

The ramp looks great, the thing I don't understand unless you where under strict space constraints why wouldn't you optimize the material used and ramp size to minimum 8 ft wide therefore your not wasting the extra 2 FT from the 4x8 sheets, also a 6 ft wide mini is pretty dang narrow

Cool micro ramp, but even with a 5 ft 9 inch radius, that looks too mellow since the rampnis only 2 feet high. I think that radius would be fine for a 2.5 to 3 5 feet high ramp, but for 2 foot, a 4 foot to 4.5 foot radius would be more fun, and in thst tight space, you would also have a little more flat bottom.

Hey dude, i'm designing my own 2ft ramp now, and to the eye, i found 4.3 to be my best bet, i found this video while researching the subject. Id like to know more, are you experienced in riding 2ft ramps? I keep seeing 5 to 6 ft radii and im wondering if i may be making it too steep If you have some good info to share please let me know

@@aldomaresca9994 i just built two quarter pipes for the garage. I have a small 2 car garage, and the quarters can be flipped up out of the way rather than a mini half. I made both of them 20.75 inches high (counting the thickness of the deck). The first one is made with a 4.5 foot radius and the other with a 5 foot radius. At 20.75 inches high the difference in the radius in not very noticeable. I still think a 2 foot mini halfpipe would be awesome fun with a 4 foot 10 inch radius. It would be tight enough to maintain speed easily and to lock in you grinds and also to have you wheels rock off the surface when doing disasters and rock n roll tricks. If rhe ramp is indoors, you should do 2 layers of 3/8 plywood for the surface and a top layer of 1/8 or 1/4 masonite should be fine. Gator skins or skatelite is a great top layer too if you can afford it and highly reccomend if your ramp will be outside, though you could get by with painted top layer of 1/4 inch birch. I recommend using a coping reveal of no less than 1/4 inch and no more than 3/8 inch (and lean more toward 1/4 inch bonk on small ramps). Hope this helps.

@billyruben116 ok, thank you for the info, i have some questions: - How muh is the height of the deck? I'd like to calculate the transition height (mine will be 21 inches only the ridable part, not counting the deck) - Do you find your ramp to be a good balance or would you rather make it a bit steeper or mellow if you made it again?
@billyruben1163 ай бұрын
@@aldomaresca9994 it is a good size... not to tight and not too mellow. I would prefer a little steep verses a little mellow. Mellow is too slow and hard to do tricks or maintain speed on a small halfpipe. 3/4 inch plywood for the deck. 20 inches on height of tranny plus the 3/4 inch deck.
@billyruben1163 ай бұрын
@@aldomaresca9994 The two quarters I made were 20 inches high. The decking is 3/4 in plywood, so the total height is 20.75 inches. I think the two i made are both pretty optimal for that height. One is a 4.5 foot radius and one is 5 foot radius, and as a quarter they are very similar, but if I was building a micro halfpipe at only 20 inch high, I would go more with the 4.5 inch radius since it will help maintain speed more, and at that height it is still mellow enough for your beginner friends to have fun. You definitely do not want a lot of coping reveal on a tiny ramp so lean more to a 1/4 inch reveal on the top and on the face.

@marshmallow_island2 жыл бұрын
It will need to be replaced from time to time, but if you keep the ramp covered with a tarp when not in use, you can get a year or two, maybe more, out of it

Why 11/32 over 15/32? Was it cost?
@marshmallow_island Жыл бұрын
In this case not really. Typically you would use 3/8" ply in this application (for the first two layers, before masonite) so the 11/32" plywood we got was close enough. 15/32", which is nearly 1/2", would be more difficult to bend to the transition.
@MaSter-mw3rb Жыл бұрын
@@marshmallow_island not really. I am using 15/32 and putting the ply down by myself. I am skipping the Masonite. I am just going to use exterior paint I have for free and save the cost. I did like the use of space. I used your idea for that. Much thanks for the inspiration.

That was just $450 in material? Before "covid lumber price increase" (however that happened 🤷♂️) I would believe that, but 7 months ago? Figured that'd be atleast $1000 in material
@marshmallow_island2 жыл бұрын
There was a window of time where lumber prices in our area went back down after the first price jump. The plywood prices were still pretty inflated but 2x4s were down to about $3, at the time. They are back up again tho :(
@FrenchLeprechaun995 ай бұрын
It’s come down especially here in canada to damn near the price before covid!
