Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today Kosmo and I are going to finally use up our excess warehouse keys by making a red bot catching machine! Try upping the gamma in post processing when it’s night time so then it won’t bleed the color in the day (because it won’t be on in the day) and it won’t bleed at night because your not upping the actual games brightness your upping the black point.

As feedback regarding the brightness thing: while it makes the game look really whitewashed it does help a lot with visibility at night, that's a combination of youtube compression and a possibly different display panel one might have (I have a rather dim VA panel, so I have to adjust brightness in games accordingly, and sadly yt does not provide these features).

PSA: Gamma doesn't mean the same thing as Brightness... Brightness affects everything, so if you increase it, black will become grey. If you decrease it, white will become grey. Gamma affects only the middle part of the spectrum, so black will stay black and white will stay white.

you can make the large carrier build by using same system as 2 stage hover setup and have sensors read bubbleplast floats as stabilizer part. then you can avoid the large bubbleplast plates to have it float. also you CAN operate switches while having vehicle on lift.

If you have gforce experience you can use a game filter to make the game brighter. There's a shortcut to turn it on and off. You'll have to fiddle with the settings to find one that makes it brighter without washing out all the color.

You've already built the auto-waterer, I'd just make a shed-load of vacuum pumps, linked with glass tubes to large chests, fill the chests with seeds. Then attach a couple of sensors to each line of water pumps / vacuum pumps so that as they move, they shoot seeds at the correct point (I use warning blocks on an overhang). Then it seeds and waters completely unsupervised. I put all this onto a controller based machine that ran on some rails and as I got more soil, just kept extending the length of my farm. It ended up over 500 soil plots long. But it was only 6 soil bags wide :-) But a 3,000 plot farm was cool. Over the top, but cool.

So what I think you should do about the farm is just extend a bit of the fence out cause I think what's happening is the haybots are swinging and don't do damage to the metal but it goes through to the plants so if you extend the top part of the fence out it will keep them far enough away to not be able to hit the plants

For night time if you have an Nvidia gpu you can apply self made filters over the image that can easily be saved and turned on and off. There are many options to play with when setting it up and you can make the night time look nearly just like day time no problem, easy to use. Copied and pasted from google how to open the game filters menu. -Using Nvidia Filters- The default bind for this is ALT + z. Then click Game Filter on the left-hand side of the overlay. Alternatively, you can press ALT + F3 to go straight to the Nvidia Filters menu. There are three presets spots to save custom settings.

FYI, inventory bags(the ones you drop when you die) are also indestructible, and although they can’t be picked up, they can be welded. You should use them instead because they can be produced very easily.

Have you considered adding a drill or saw blades ? Yes they might get destroyed, but they are readily available for cheap from the trader, and it would speed up kills and conserve ammo.

you need to get more warehouse keys, and use them to armor the entire back of the truck. any part that might get hit from any angle, such as the wheels, needs to have a warehouse key protecting it

if you plant just enough taters(or any low tier crop) to trigger a raid, when the counter appears you can plant your whole plot with broccoli and pineapples. Youd only get a few totebots and haybots, thats it! Aslong as youve fertilised and can pick them all up before triggering another raid, youll never encounter tapebots and big reds in a raid again!

Make a huge net (net instead of a solid surface so it's cheaper) over the forest, that can be dropped and pulled up again, so it hits everyting with melee damage and knocks the bots out, so the net can be made of wood and still not get destroyed. That way, you can farm farm bot in your when built farm bot farming farm. It will also generate a bunch of hay bots, that can the be refined for metal.

Hey Kan, don't know if you'll see this comment, but there is another way to do this. Scrapman made a discovery in his Survival series (SMS 86) that if you're behind blocks (glass will do) AND not in a seat, that bots won't go agro on you. Even if you shot them. I've been using it to do warehouse raids ever since and it's slow, but works bloody well. I just made a seatless mini-tank with an enclosed cockpit. You guys could absolutely use that method for this Farm bot murder spree. I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's easier or not.

2 thoughts, 1) for the brightness, fix it in post, if you're already doing video editing just deal with it then. 2) adding a floor or a lip the red can stand on, will let you pick it up and drive full speed with it.

my theory on this is given that people clearly lived here at some point, maybe they had satellites for the purpose of helping the bots get around and that the bots went haywire and found that all the crops planted were "unauthorized farms" and started attacking everyone. Eventually this killed them all except the ones at the trader station.

Remember "Farmbot at home"? I named him Ragerts. I have a feeling that Ragerts is just about what every farmbot in this video had. Anyways, ever consider outsourcing some of your survival grinding to your community members? Like ones you can trust. Just put out on your discord for people with the game and those you feel can be trusted, "Next episode we're doing this thing and we need 50 billion stone. Either we can get your guys help or we can have another grind episode where we go insane." Like I'd be down to go out and run over farm bots for warehouse keys for you guys. I've got too many in my world as it is and they bounce really nice off of garment boxes (durability of 7 or 8 I believe. They make a ridiculously strong bumper.) For an alternative farm bot killer, get level 5 pistons and stack about 3 - 5 in a row and set them to max speed but a distance of 3 blocks and put a "head" of either tier 3 metal or tier 3 concrete on the end. Use that to stab a farm bot and if it actually hits it (some times it deflects around it because of the wonky hit box) it will usually one shot it because it's a relatively heavy mass moving very fast and that imparts a large amount of force. Meaning a lot of damage all at once. Really stupid when you think about it, but it's about the equivalent of dropping a farm bot from a really high distance, just piston powered and horizontally.

Capture a farmbot, give it a name and keep it as a pet like ScrapMan did with Hank the haybot. There are going to be problems with it respawning though so I suggest building a fence cage thing around the spawn location.

You can use your bag when you're dead too, you can weld it and it has the same durability as the warehouse key, when you're dead don't take all the item just leave 1 item and the bag will stay there, i think it's better than the warehouse key since all warehouse keys will turn into circuit board in the next update

Afaik, no, it doesnt have any affect. Putting blocks and soil on the ground only gets rid of the grass. The no collision trees have been an issue for awhile. Theres a mod you can use to remove them, nothing in vanilla. I think the devs are looking into a solution, from what i read in the q&a
