I'd call it a win. It works really well but i think it needs a slow speed for the water. When i was a kid my friend had a couple and the modded one was slower on the water because of cavitation. If you got it moving at a slow speed and slowly increased the throttle it wasnt bad but the stock one was better on the water. He also kept more air in the middle tires so the steering was les jerky.

Just needs chunkier tread on the tyres like a tractor, and better throttle control to stop the wheels from causing cavitation, its hard to propel yourself forward in a sea of bubbles. It might be fine if it's not sitting low in the water and lugging twice its own weight in bilge water, then the operator won't feel the urge to floor it and create a froth that it can't propel itself through. I'm reserving judgement until I see it working properly in its current (pun intended) form.

I'm so confused how "oh there a steady stream of water coming in, lets figure out where that's coming from" wasn't your reaction to almost sinking the first time. Other thing is..... you NEED to keep the bearings heavily greased where they go through the body on all six axles. The grease in those bearings are your only seal to keep water out. On the outside of the MAX right atop each axle where it goes in the body should be a zerk grease fitting on each axle bearing. Grease grease grease them up and your water leaks will stop. Also, now that you have removed the fuel tank in the front and added heavy batteries and the electric motors weight in the rear, you'll need to add some ballast weight in the front where fuel tank used to be. Or simply move your batteries to the front.

If you want to try again use 2 separate electronic motors one for each side of wheels , would make driving and stearing much better by leaps and bounds , I had one of thoes 6x6s with a single gas engine , I swaped that out for 2 predator engines and it really drove as intended flawless control !!! My only downside was no reverse but it turned on a dime so really no need for reverse , with the dual electric motors you would also have reverse that solution is best

I've been wanting to build an EV Argo for years, it's like my reachable dream toy. What i wanted to do was put each wheel on it's own smaller motor and do away with the big chains, and then put a joystick controller from a mobility scooter to control it so the each side could be put in opposite directions like a zero turn mower. Add a switch that goes from wheel control to 2 propeller motors and still use the joystick at a much faster speed in the water.

Have had a MAX II 6x6 like that for over 22 years. You need to sit in the center of machine with the steering sticks between your legs. Also, while in the water and sitting in center of the seat, you need to not only power your steering by the levers, but you LEAN just like a motorcycle to help make your turns. Yu can just about turn in a circle by only leaning to the side without even steering with steering levers. Steering levers AND leaning while in the water to make your turns. I personally use a trolling motor mounted to body if I plan to do any serious water time. Tires will power you across a quick pond, but a day of water use you'll want a trolling motor.

@johnsmith34
@johnsmith34 Жыл бұрын
@@surfcoasttreasureman2441 The only measure of how difficult something is to pump is energy. For water, all that matters is the difference in pressure and flow rate (constant here). Water pressure can be measured by how much you raise it, so if the outlet is below the waterline you must pump up to the surface. But if the outlet is above the waterline, you must pump it to the surface and then some more, wasting energy. The real reason these things should be above the waterline is that the pipe or the pump could fail and start letting on water if it's below the waterline.

I should have ordered one of these. Rip Stevon he should have called her. They also delivered the package to my address. Glad to see an add from a quality company. Ship station however will deliver packages to a zip code 4 hours away and then return to sender. The guy at that post office now knows me by name when I call and attempt to intercept it. I wish companies disclosed that they use it because I need to add text notifications for all my packages so I can give Ray at the post office a call. I definitely owe Ray a beer or two.

You need to add a trolling motor for amphibious operations.

Thanks for the mini update about Stevon. I know there must be a lot going on behind the scenes, but your channel has made us care about you guys and your relationships.

It would be cool if you can install a hydro jet for when it in the water.

Cool build, it really moves well on land. Only problem, it looks like the tires are mounted the wrong way, I think the "V" of the tread should be pointed in the direction of motion, that should give you better propulsion in the water.

I think you are exceeding the "swim speed" of the tires. Even tho the chevrons face the correct direction, they are sucking water up and forward almost as fast as they are shoving it backward. Does this not have reverse? Would be interested to see it go backwards in water as well.

one of these with paddle tires and a drop down sideboard it would be sick with a better seal and pino situation. I wish we could see more improvements done to the Argo honestly I know it runs wonky because of the tank steering but it's a cool vehicle

Or hypothetically imagine one with a stronger drive and 6 alternated large paddle tires to smooth out the off-road drive and improve the speed when riding amphibious could even scale this up a bit. But electric battery malfunction will always be the biggest concern 🤔

You guys should build some extensions for the steering control sticks that go up and over to the side so you don't have to steer so awkwardly, you could even make them so they rotate either way and lock into position in front of the driver on either side... just a thought...
