We Can Live Better In The Philippines Than In America!
Living and working in the United States allows us the luxury of retiring early in the Philippines due to a much lower cost of living. There are many advantages to living in the Philippines as a foreigner. There are also many luxuries available to us that wouldn't be affordable in the United States.

We've been in the Philippines for a year. We're still very positive about our retirement here. Yes, there are moments when we say, " What are we doing here?" but they are becoming fewer and fewer. We had a very nice time staying at a resort in Puerto Galera Mindoro and it was only $18.00 per night. Nothing luxurious, but it was clean and we could hear the ocean's waves from our room. Their restaurant with an Italian chef was also fantastic.

So right paradise possible everywhere as long as you locate a location that fits when living as a resident. True about the Grand canyon where your eyes are filled way past what could ever be captured on film or photo. Planning that life in the future so I'd like to thank you for sharing a slice of what you enjoy 😊 keep safe out there 🎉

We all have those rose coloured glasses when we decide to make the move to justify why we are doing it. There will be plenty of WTF am I doing here moments in the first 2 years when some of the reality of living here full time kicks in. Having said that, once you learn to go with the flow and work out solutions it starts to get easier and you can enjoy what Phils has to offer. Having a good woman by your side who knows how to use her ‘ diskarte’ to make things easier and get things done makes a world of difference, and it seems you have that. The best mantra any new expat can have when they first get here is hope for the best and expect the worse.

Okay so, Here it is. Shit is so cheap in the philipines that kf you can't afford to keep yourself healthy that you get to the point of needing hospitalization often you either need mental help or, cause in america its everywhere because they know Americans can't afford healthy foods but they can afford junk and sugars 24/7 qnd that's what hospitalizes you.

Marker, we decided to continue waiting for our departure for the Davao region,,, we’re still open I. Preparing for our home, and the get away cabin type of retreat,,, I love the northern mountains at Mindanao, since my wife has gotten used to Alaska, she hasn’t been very excited to visit back to the Phillies,,, I always am looking forward in visiting her country,, I actually love it there,,, the natural farm grown foods are awesome and the wild fish are also great,,. What I love the most is the natural grown cows and the meat,,, only if they cook it, that’s what I love about my in-laws,,, they always prepare the best for me when I’m there including the best tasting natural morning coffee in which my mother in law prepares for me,,, and the natural coconut drink they always have for me,,, I miss that the most,,, but when we settle one day I’ll be building g my own boat as my father was a great craftsman in boat building as well,,, I grew up around the ocean life, so boating is a must for me,,, I’m certainly glad to see you both, your wife’s natural Filipino hair looks great,,, haha,,, good luck to the both of you,,, am greatful for our friendship,,, take good care of your family,,,bye for now,,,

I agree with you on all points Scott. Having been back here in Canada (British Columbia for the most part) for 3 full months already, I don't think it would be possible for Merlyn and I to ever come back full time. In fact I figure we can live in the Philippines on about half of what we do here. Frankly if not for making a promise to the people we're renting from to stay for 4 months, ... our agreement so they'd save us this place, I'd be tempted to just fly back early even though our flight isn't until Nov. The cost of living here on the west coast is probably the worst in the country now.

The Philippines 🇵🇭 is a great country. I have been going there for 30 years. The only reason I don’t live there is the healthcare. The best nurses in the world 🌎 come out of the Philippines. A lot of those nurses end up as OFW’s and work abroad for a higher salary. I wouldn’t want to be in a life or death situation and stuck in the Philippines. There’s a lot more to the Philippines healthcare system I don’t agree with. My suggestion is if you retire in the Philippines 🇵🇭 make sure you’re in the best bill of health possible. If you need a major surgery, I would be more comfortable in the USA than the Philippines 🇵🇭.

I tend to agree with you on everything Brian. The problem is we never know when a health emergency will arise. I will seek out the best care available in our area and always know that we have the option of returning to the US for medical if absolutely necessary. I don’t know how Guam ranks in healthcare, but it’s only about 4 hours away.

There's so much divisiveness in the US where it's not like that at all in the Philippines. People just don't seem to be friendly like they used to be here in the US. I think that so much of thr problems in the US are politically driven. With the high prices for everything here it sure helps to create lots of stress. I find that I live a healthier life in the Philippines and it's not because I don't like the food there. Sometimes the traffic in the Philippines can be chaotic but it's part of life there and you just need to do your best to relax without letting any anger to bring you to do something stupid. My comments aren't meant to knock on either country because both countries are great and like all countries they all have their bad sides. I love both countries and sometimes we just need to do what is best for us and not doing what others think that we should do. The Philippines is a growing and developing country.

Life in the Philippines looks like more that life was in the 1950's here in the US. People were respectful, loved God, supported schools and the schools taught the important subjects. Not going to say what the leftist have done here, you are all aware. Life in the Philippines is amazing.

Hi Scott and Celile I have been a subcriber for a couple of years. My wife and i are planning to move back to the philippines, We are thinking Batangas might be just the place for us. My wife is originally from Olongapo. We have been married for 15 years. We have no kids, I am 66 yrs. Old my wife will be 29 for the 25th time 😅. We would like to get your thoughts on Batangas . We are not big party people, we like to go out to eat and travel in general. What is the area like ? Modern Mall, Hardware store if we plan to build. Are good Rentals available? Is flooding a big problem ? How about crime ? Sorry about bombarding you with all this just trying to get a general Idea, hope you understand. Thank you in advance , hope your upcoming move goes smooth. Hope to hear from u in the future.Warmest Regards , John and Maria Valle

Healthcare issues. Corrupt Government. Lack of timely judicial system. Inadequate infrastructure. Convoluted property ownership laws. Bad pollution and lack of sanitation. The lack of customer service and getting things resolved. In-law money support issues. Supply chain price fixing scams. While the PI is a very friendly place with cheap housing and labor than in most Western Countries. Its far from perfect and not for every one. I find very few vlogers telling it how it really is the good and the bad. I respect those who do show both sides of the coin. If your planning your Philippine retirement. My advice, have access to a lot of cash in-case you come home for prostate cancer treatment only to find out it was a inguinal hernia that your suffering from. Or a highly respected pulmonologist in NCR that diagnosed somebody with TB only to find out it was a mild respiratory infection after getting a second opinion at Saint Luke Hospital. Or finding a real cardiology surgeon. With the healthcare. Your rolling the dice and gambling with your life. With all the rest mentioned. They are mere annoyances that will get to you over time.
