I totally get what Garnt is saying about the nostalgia thing. Not only that, film easter eggs no longer feel like easter eggs. They’re practically forced down your throat. Modern Star Wars films and shows are a perfect example of this. Trailers utilize nostalgic themes to get your emotions going and the films are littered with obvious throw backs to prior films. Cameo’s of either random characters from previous stories or straight up random celebrity appearances. It’s all over Hollywood. Nostalgia seems to be a very bankable issue.

@GoldenPincers
@GoldenPincers Жыл бұрын
I don't know if I'm the only one with that reaction, but I fail to understand their point and complaint about "complex" turn-based combat. To follow the games they mention, Fire Emblem and Trails, yes there are guides that go over "optimal builds" in detail, but... nobody said you need to follow these guides. Both franchises are perfectly beatable without using strategy guides, because the games themselves already teach you how to manage your combat. You can simply play the game as is, with some trial and error along the way. At worst, you'll look up how to beat a difficult chapter/boss. All I used guides for in Trails 1 was for 2 bosses and making sure I didn't miss any chest. I feel they let the surprise they had about some hyper-detailed guides cloud their judgment and make them believe you can't play the game without them. Please correct me if I sound way off.
@AquaticIdealist
@AquaticIdealist Жыл бұрын
Sounds about right. The main "complexity" of the older trails games is probably how one unlocks spells, but you can beat the game with almost any loadout as long as you make sure your physical damage is enough to smash things and you have decent coverage (some enemies have elemental weaknesses but even the "lower tier" spells can hit hard)

During that Fear & Hunger segment, after a while ALL of their descriptions just started to sound like how real life feels like. How “it’s not hard, you just have to know certain things”, and that as long as you’re lucky enough to have a guide (Connor’s twitch chat or a guide online) to tell you about things you could never have found out on your own, you can dramatically decrease your hardship. So often in life people are not happy or can’t seem to get a break all because they were not privileged enough to be born into stable conditions with enough material resources, stable families or environment to help them (or just give them avenues for salvation) or they just didn’t have any way to get prior information about things and had to brutally go through trial and error to survive when if they had that one thing that so many other people are privileged enough to have, they wouldn’t have need to have suffered for however many years. That is IF they survive, cuz the majority that are dealt a shitty hand just end up in the absolute gutter with no one to help them. No government, no family, no society, no friends. I know it’s just a game but it just hit me way too hard. But imagine, the boys and many others feel stressed and just immediately don’t want to play that game just hearing the descriptions, being stuck to that basically just being your whole entire life… feels soul-crushing Just started listening to the rest of the game’s description with that analogy to life in mind and it’s fun (/s) to realize how accurate it is

Ah yes the Gacha episode. Can't wait to see what Garnt has to say on this episode. Edit: So now that I have watched the video, I agree with Garnt on the Honkai take. It basically dumbed down the turn based combat system and made it very flashier to make it much more accessible to the casual audience. However, I also do think that after a while, a lot of players who want more complexity from the game will eventually get bored of it. It happened with Genshin. The music though, Amazing! I really wish the bois would go back and check up on Arknights again. We've been getting some really crazy music for our boss stages recently.

@@melzick5086 I guess you can say there are a lot of different mechanics at play there. But essentially, a lot of them do basically the same thing with different animations and effects and varying numbers. The problem here is that at the core, it's very simple and the gameplay loop just isn't satisfying enough to keep it going. Look at Honkai Impact 3rd for example, its got a very nuanced and in depth combat system along with varying degrees of element effectiveness and counters. But it's something that the casual player cannot just pick up and play. HSR on the other side feels like it has a lot of depth to it's combat to the first time players. But to those who have been long time turn based players, I don't think it's something they'd actively enjoy. And I can see that it definitely loses it's charm somewhere down the line for a lot of the current players as well.

I get that the system in Trails in the Sky can be complicated, as you need to have a specific number of combinations of Quartz to be able to use certain arts. The system in changes in Trails of Cold Steel and beyond. The more recent games have also changed the gameplay to a hybrid style, where you can switch between action and turn-based.

Yup. Some die-hard fellow fans always cling to the importance to play the games in chronological order for a "rewarding" experience, but often times I just figured that one should know the people you want to recommend this series well enough and see if they are usually not into the very classical, somewhat slow-paced, traditional turn-based combat system and thus rather try to recommend them the modern installments of the Trails series like Cold Steel. I feel the success rate to sell them on the series is a bit higher with the modern parts of the series as they have added more comfort gameplay elements that make them stick to the lengthy games in the first place, which then can work well as introduction to the rest if they become more interested after their first playthrough.

The quartz system in cold steel is much more basic compared to sky/crossbell. I think because cold steel was trying to appeal to the Garnt audience, it simplified the system. Goddamn two ass takes in one episode. GOTG 3 was great and the villian was incredible it wasnt just "screaming" and Garnt the TLOU game does a way better job at telling the story than the show. the show was damn good but it was like watching a speedrun of the game. I don't want to assume, but maybe Joey doesn't want to watch Arcane since he just doesn't care about League of Legends. Sure, people say it has incredible writing, animation, etc, but if someone just doesn't find the premise interesting, anyone would find it a hard sell. Imagine Connor's reaction if you recommended him an absolutely incredible new airing show with great acting, writing, action, etc... And then imagine the look on his face when you tell him it's about the Bible. You know, that book his childhood made him apathetic towards. I doubt he'd be all that interested after hearing that. Android notifications (lots applies fo iOS too): - you can snooze EVERY notification. Just expand it! - you can read messages in your notification preview without discarding the notification or marking the message as read in the app. Just expand it by pulling down on it. - you can mark messages as unread in some messaging apps like FB. - you can turn on do-not-disturb and all notifications will be held off until you decide to take a look. The "Modes" setting is better tho because you can preconfigure certain presets like driving, work, theater, exercising and decide which notification is to come through in any of these.

Their discussion about the disconnect between English humor and Japanese humor both in anime and movies, is sort of like how in the airport it says "Welcome home" in Japanese, but then it says "Welcome to Japan" in English. Like you're still be welcomed but that extra bit of warmth in the Japanese meaning is lost unless you know Japanese. Now that I'm getting better at Japanese, when I watch an anime i can sometimes pick up on the "shortcuts" the English translations take since it's hard to really convey in a short amount of words the significance of what's being said in Japanese.

Judging from his marvel movie takes he doesn't seem to enjoy them that much.

I don't know about iOS (I think only Joey has an iPhone) but in Android you can SNOOZE any notification for 15min/30min/1h/2h. There's a little icon in one of the corners of each "expanded" notification. Use that. Maybe on other Android phones you have to swipe slightly from the edge of the notification towards a side and the icon then appears. If you need more time, then use the 2hs each time. It's kind of annoying, but I get it because they're NOTIFICATION, not emails, they're meant for you to notice them and remind you or alert you from ort for stuff you need to checkout.

As an Italian resident pasta and coffee is something Italians just do, it is in their blood but not expresso macchines which are becoming more common yes, but mokas, we calculated with some friends that a house normaly has at least two. They do pizza different, I am from south America and we do them thick while in here they do them lighter (less crust Garnt...) and also you will not find some types of pizza at all. And yes they have a high voice tone that can feel as they are shouting but they are just built like that. And they do just drive as they feel like it, the limit is 50 I drive at 60 and they honk because I am not fast enough (ever near a school zone at times). If you need any advice feel free to ask!
