That thing you said about people who CANT do walks like this anymore...so you do it for them too...is 100% one of the main reason that I watch James. I've spent my life doing walks like this, and other adventures, but after three knee replacements, a failed hernia op, quite severe arthritis, and getting older and overweight, I just cant/don't do it anymore. And...that's kills me tbh. I've always been such an adventurous fella, and took my kids along on many adventures, hikes, and rambles, for many years. Now...that's all in the past for me. But...I have my amazing memories...and your videos to remind me of the great times I've had. So...thank you James and Helen. PS...I used to have a huge. collection of OS maps for walking! Wore many of them out over the years.

Brought tears to my eyes the vlog. We are all missing out on what life used to be like in Blighty. We have such a beautiful country and the pace is just too fast. The meaning of what matters lost in the slave society. Lovely filming. Thank you. I’m off to watch all creatures great and small now 😂

I remember years ago sitting on a bench on the platform in Pickering, next to my mum and with the dog on my knee. The train pulled out, so I shook the dog's paw to see if anyone would wave back. To my surprise, carriage after carriage of hands waved to us, so I had to keep waving Max's paw until the train had passed. I'd forgotten such a sweet moment. Thankyou for reminding me. 😊

As someone whose barely existing, Watching you and Helen is very enjoyable and i look forward to watching your interactions and discussions as you scour the villages and towns etc that you both visit. The walk after the steam train ride was well off the beaten track and very trusting of you to follow Helen, Luckily shes a good map reader and glad you didnt get lost. Sorry to see putting up the drone was not helpful with the density of the trees. Again very entertaining viewing thank you James and Helen for the 50minutes of escapism.

Crackin' episode. Love your country hikes. We're two of those you referred to who can no longer do these activities. Be assured that all the pain and anguish she inflicts on you is worth it for the pleasure these vids give to others. We've done that trip from Pickering to Grosmont and Whitby many times without being aware of how utterly charming is the countryside and woodland we pass through. We could stand as many hiking episodes as your poor legs can manage. We thank you for your sacrifice.😁

Spot on James ! Loved this video , nice use of your amazing little new drone thingy too - how DOES it do that ?? I am not in a position to be too adventurous at present, but I feel like I am walking with you both on these brilliant vlogs which keep me going for now and make notes for the future to try and get to one or two places you go. Wonderful to see helen so happy too, she works very hard as you say and makes good use of her "Weekend Warrior" time for sure ! You should return to Matlock (not the town itself or the 'seaside' bit next door, but the general area) and do the Lumsdale Waterfall walk, which takes you past the ruins of old mills and also has a handy brewery & taproom halfway. The walk along the canal / Derwent from Cromford Mill on the other side of town is also interesting, full of history, but also nice and flat !! Matlock has a steam / heritage railway as well , there are quite a few around now ... Keep on stepping out, if a fat, bald, grumpy old git like you can walk ten miles with a backsack full of camera gear, we all can !!!

A couple of years ago they filmed the latest Tom Cruise film Mission Impossible in Pickering which was the main base behind the railway station, they did the train scenes from Levisham and Tom Cruise travelled between the two by helicopter. We live localish so my wife and i helped out cleaning the Honey wagons, that was the portable toilets, called honey wagons because in the old days on set they burnt honey smelling candles to hide the smell. The car park at Levisham was packed full of massive caravans, changing rooms and food wagons, everything you needed to film. They also had all the field across the road for parking, never seen so many people and vehicles in such a rural spot, they really did look after us though.
