Going through your old collection of KZbin videos again and it's so entertaining. You inspired me and my fiancé to get a scuba-diving license and now just a couple of weeks ago my soon-to-be caught a mahi-mahi. Its loads of fun and maybe going foraging for scallops could be even better without having to set up with gear and just going free. To this day, I still have to try them right out of the shell on a reef or something because I imagine they just melt right in your mouth! Take care.

one of my fondest memories with my dad is us catching bluegill by the bucketful. there was a small group of ponds we'd fish, and after hours of nothing, we made our way to the furthest pond. where we proceeded to catch a ton of bluegill. they were biting as soon as the hooks were hitting the water, it was insane.

Great Video . Reminds of Summers with my Grand Father . We would bring cane poles to the creek in his flat bottom boat and wipe some blue gills out . and later a big fish fry with his neighbors in Southern Arkansas .I still get exited when I see hat red and white bobber go down ! Love the channel and your gal is a keeper for sure !

The fish at around the 4:30 mark is a green sunfish, not a pumpkinseed. Green sunfish are less laterally compressed and have a light yellow margin on the border of their opercular flap. Pumpkinseeds are more laterally compressed and have red on the tip of the margin on the opercular flap. Great video as always!

I made a tin can hobo reel from a baked beans can, a nice thick dowel and two plastic, reusable tin lids. I made it according to Blackie Thomas's design but I made one change and that is I made it so that the opening is at the _top_ of the tin away from the handle. Nice, sturdy and stable. But I live in a small agricultural dorp where fishing tackle is not available. Going to Cape Town in a couple of weeks. See about it then.

Not shaming for eating small bluegill but given rationale that water will dry up then you were keeping small ones. Does the water not flow out to a bigger body of water or does sturgeon also die as water dries up? Again bluegill are prolific so eat away but original reason did not align with sturgeon presence. Love your videos!
@catchncookcalifornia15744 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support EB. That was a good question as well. This spot gets a ton of water in the winter when it is connected to larger river systems, but as the heat of sprong and summer beats down on the small stream, the water evaporates and is left concentrated in two deep areas that form the last remaining pools. Without a doubt there will not be enough rain between now and winter to reconnect that pool with the main stem of the river. I actually want to go back, catch the stergeon and release it back into deep water so it does not die. I am not sure if that is legal, but will ask my brother as he is a freshwater fisheries biologist. Thanks for watching and for the question.
@AquaRedReflections4 жыл бұрын
