In Today's video we head to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida...except this isn't a Disney World video, this is about the cheap hotel room we booked on Priceline. We documented our experience at the hotel to let you know if staying in Orlando on vacation for $50 a day is worth it or not. Stick around to find out!
We also went to Disney Springs to eat at Homecomin (our new favorite restaurant). Kitra had never been before and was blown away by how good everything was. We definitely recommend checking out Art Smith's Homecomin on your next Florida vacation.
***Disclaimer: We filmed this video 2 weeks before Walt Disney World closed. We are in no way making light of this Pandemic and encourage everyone out there to be healthy and smart about the current status of the world. With that being said, we still wanted to release the videos we filmed in WDW to hopefully take your mind off of everything and just have a good time (which is always our goal at Ordinary Adventures) - thanks so much for watching & we will see you on the next adventure!

Well, you guys just discovered our Disney hack. We live about 2.5 hours from Disney and have Florida resident weekday passes for cheap. We stay in the sort of hotels you just showed for cheap and we go many times per year. The hotel is just where we sleep. Sure, we stay on Disney property when we have guests on vacation and we do Disney like a tourist then, but if we go just by ourselves, then there are great hotel deals just outside the parks. We even just hit an IHOP or Perkins for breakfast THEN head to the parks. We usually have one meal inside the park and don't buy any merch. We have literally gone up and spent under $200 for two days at Disney including hotel and meals.

I know this is a year late but I totally agree! I road trip down I-35 and even in the middle of nowhere Iowa I still end up paying around $80 a night for a standard hotel room, $100 for medium sized cities. Perhaps it's the proximity to the highway, but still not as big of a draw as Disney!

I think it was in the late 90's I went to Disney World with my family and we all stayed in one of those outside of Disney, Florida Project type hotels. They warned us to lock our doors and not open them for anyone. The people working at the hotel were very honest about how this was a bad idea to stay there! We were all so nervous! Your hotel looked SO much better for the price! That looked like a paradise.

Great video! Thanks for 'risking' it by testing the 'questionable' option! There are definitely ways to do Disney on a budget and lots of savings. That shower is probably the only sketchy part. I have a feeling that was a couples resort at sometime with two bathrooms, a hottub, and the smaller than the size of the room allows bed. Your 'lost looking for homecomin' video was so cute! So awesome to see Kitra get to try it! Those drinks look and sound delicious! The Kitra rating scale has been calibrated and confirmed 4 Kitras equal 3 1/2 Peters. This video gets a 5 Peters or 6 1/2 Kitras.

Haha. You guys RULE! I nearly spat my coffee when Kitra compared the façade of the hotel to the Florida Project. Forget the lack of USB ports. The shower looked a little neglected. Kind of had the "dead hooker was here" vibe. I guess that's why there was a "back up bathroom." Disneyland in Anaheim has a much better selection of hotels and restaurants than Disneyworld. Late January, I booked 2 nights at the Hilton which is literally 2-3 blocks from the entrance to Disneyland and it was $125/night. The price included early check-in at 09:00 and view of the fireworks. For a New Yorker, nothing beats wide pedestrian sidewalks entrance to entrance (with a stop off at Dennys). It definitely was way more posh for my needs but the location, service, and cleanliness checked all the boxes. And I can't emphasize enough, Disneyland is a stone's throw (roughly 38-45 min good traffic) from Los Angeles proper. I know this because I loaded up on Randy's doughnuts before hitting the road. Disneyworld is a stone's throw from golfing?!?!? To each their own. Here's hoping we run into each other when Disneyland re-opens. As a nurse in NYC, you bet I'm going to Disneyland to treat myself when this pandemic nightmare is over.

We stayed at All Star Movies and it was $79 a night. I sure could have enjoyed your hot tub and honestly I do NOT like crowds so getting to have breakfast in your hotel is a bonus before hitting the crowds of the parks. We didn't use the extra magic hours one time in 7 days... we were just to worn out to stay late or get up early. The kids meals at the resort were good and filling for even adults and the Disneyland transportation was a big relief ...less stress Except...once again crowded crowded crowded. Thank you for your review of the hotel and food.

Hey.. I once stayed in a room at Bally’s in Vegas that had a hot tub right off the side of the large bedroom/sitting room...between the “his” and “hers” bathrooms! What a great trip!

My kids and I did an 8 day stay, every year for Spring Break (for like 10 years). We always stayed off property, and got a rent car at the airport. But then again our time was split between Disney, Universal, and Busch (Tampa, day trip). 😷

I stayed at the Corando Springs tower last time. I could afford it because of covid. I was wonderful and a great experience. But I was hardly in my room. I was in the parks until I was ready to drop and out the door as soon as I woke up. I'd be happy to save on the hotel bill and stay at this place. Plus, its bigger than my apartment.

The room is pretty awesome for $50! My biggest concern was safety and those showers. They would be very quick showers with flip flops or rain boots (joking.... Sorta)

Yes! Unless you would be extremely disappointed, I would skip staying on Disney Property. I would recommend staying at a hotel near Disney Springs. In the past I’ve stayed at the Hilton, the Palace and the Holiday Inn. It was at least a mile, but you could walk to Disney Springs and take one of the shuttle buses. Now, the shuttle buses do not go directly to the parks. But, you can take the bus to the Contemporary and walk to Magic Kingdom. Or, take the monorail! From Magic Kingdom you can shuttle to any of the parks. The Skyliner can take you from the value resorts to the Studios or EPCOT. They do NOT have buses when the skyliner is operating. Oh! My experience is that the Disney Property hotels have limited dining options. The Value resorts have a food court. No table service. But, be aware of “bait and switch” on the hotel prices. I stayed at the Holiday Inn that advertised $119 a night. And you have a balcony with a view of Disney Properties. I stayed 5 nights, M-F. The rate of $119 was for the first four nights. The Friday night rate was $169. I had a car, so you had to add $20 a night. Then there was the resort fee of $35 a night. Add taxes, and the 5 nights cost about $975. The Holiday Inn also had great shuttle service to the parks. You reserve your seat (it’s free) and you choose a bus like 9am, 10, or 11. And they bring you back at 7pm, 8, or 9. You don’t have to stay and wait for the next bus.

Here’s the thing, we did Disneyworld on a super tight budget the first trip. We did a million Ubers and with how much we spent on rideshares I feel we could have found a hotel that had a shuttle to the parks. Looking at doing another SUPER LAST MINUTE trip next month. Does ANYONE know of a hotel that’s NOT on property that has a shuttle to parks? Thanks!

When doing a WDW vacation, the on-property hotels can seem very expensive, but there are hidden costs associated with staying off-property like this. First off, you'll have to rent a car and pay for daily parking at the parks (Or Uber/Lyft everywhere which can be expensive). You should also consider if you will be drinking enough to make driving dangerous. For me, the Mickey Express and the transportation system will always make me want to stay on property. The only way I'd stay off property is, like in this video, when Disney rooms are $300+, or if you're someone who doesn't drink very much.

My first trip to WDW I was only 20, so I opted to just rent a car and stay at Embassy Suites for $50/night. The room came with hot breakfast every day which saved me money, and I am a cast member so I got free parking. But now I like to drink on vacation, so I pay extra to stay on property (but again, I am a cast member so I get discounted room rates).

I looked to see how much this hotel is now (April 2021) and its 99.00. Even with the uber/lyft rides, I bet its still cheaper to stay off "property" at places like this. I agree though the bed is pretty small. Otherwise, looked like a great place!!

While for special occasions My wife and I stay at the Disney resorts. However, normally we have two dogs and we take them with us to Orlando. We keep them in the hotel that allows dogs. We use Bring Fido. When you calculate the savings of a dog sitter ($35/day) and the cost of the off-site hotel vs Disney hotel. The savings right there pays for all the food you buy while at Disney or a Savi Lightsaber. #protip

Thats a good tip. I dont think we could trust our two dogs in a hotel room alone, they would bark at people going by and stuff. Also we are usually gone for the entire day and wouldn't want to leave them alone for that long. Also taking them on a plane would probably be too difficult for us.
