Nah, it looks like a mutt with working dog blood. I'm from Minnesota and working dogs are built for the cold and to run for hours and hours and hours around horses, cows etc without losing any energy. Actually I would babysit a pair of border collies in the dead of winter when it was this cold, and I'd have to force them to come inside at the end of the day because they'd want to stay outside playing frisbee. Their pads are not built like our hands - they're less temperature sensitive.

Nate, your philosophical thinking about the "comfort zone" was enlightening. I've never thought about that before but I think you are correct. My comfort zone grows more and more as a parent watching my kids grow up and experience the world without me as they mature into adulthood and I'm glad they have good people in their lives to guide them into those independent experiences with out me.

@lissy I also work with dogs. Border Collies have heavier coats than Taxi has. She looks like a possible cattle dog mix. Cattle dogs have lighter coats than BCs. I wouldn't take one of my BCs up that mountain without putting tuff paws on her pads if she wasn't going to wear boots. Dogs get used to boots if you get them acclimated to them. At the very least she should have had something on her paws in my opinion.

That beautiful talk on comfort zones brought me to tears! I loved it! Most comfort zone talks annoy me because it’s other people trying to tell me to do something. This one was very inspiring for me to look within to realize I get overwhelmed when something is way out of reach especially when I feel “behind” everyone else. I felt invited to unapologetically go at my good pace because slow is better than being so overwhelmed you don’t even try.

Nate your comfort zone explanation is spot on. Problem for many of us is time. We don’t have enough time between work and family. Carving out time should be a priority but we are notoriously bad at procrastinating and soon we realize how many years we wasted. I write in plurality so I can pretend I’m not alone. The last few years I realized I’m OLD and began to live. That little girl’s comfort zone will be massive by the time she’s an adult. Good job.

Nate! That made so much sense! The way we talk about it at the group I work with is our comfort zone, learning zone, and then our panic zone. If we stay within our comfort zone we won't grow. If we do things in our learning zone our comfort zone grows and so do we. If we get accidentally pushed into our panic zone we start to panic and we cannot learn because its too far out of our comfort zone and we go into our "fight or flight" mode. So they key is to always put yourselves in situations where your in your learning zone and constantly growing! Peace

I really like your speech about the comfort zone! It is so true and well explain. To have something that is far for the boundary of your present zone, does not mean it is impossible. We need to increase our comfort zone, with actions to eventually bring the event into the comfort zone. Both of you are very inspiring!

Love following you guys! Found you because my plan is to live the van life and travel for a couple of years. Nate's comfort zone example was much needed! I've found that I've been letting fear take over my life instead of living it and whenever I think of all the things I want to do I get overwhelmed. Now I'm going to put a plan together that will let me explore outside my comfort zone by small steps. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures! Your ability to run head first into life is a true inspiration. Can't wait to see what 2022 brings!

Your analogy about the comfort zone is one I’ve been using for grief. There is a dark spot in the middle that doesn’t change but the life around it grows and grows so that with each step forward the life around the grief gets bigger and bigger.

Learning how to hike a mountain in winter conditions is something I want to learn how to do, but as Nate so perfectly put it, it's not in my current comfort zone so feel like I need someone who knows what they're doing to guide me, at least for the first time. You guys are so fortunate to have Rick and his family in your lives 🙏

My parents lived in Leadville, CO for a few years and came back to PA before I was born. My mom worked at the Silver Dollar Saloon in town and tells me all kinds of stories. Both of my parents have traveled a lot and still say that little town is their favorite place. Anyways love you guys and your videos!♡

Nate: goes into a deep philosophical speech about your comfort zone explaining how it grows with life experience and how each one of those things makes you willing to try something new, and how your life is a sum of all the experiences that you've had. Kara: "My hair is frozen, cool, I feel cooler.... COOLER...heh!🤪" lol! 😎🥶🥴🤣🤣🤣😍 Taxi 🐕 kind of showed you guys up, she did it barefoot and got to the summit before you did! lol!

There is this common saying that growth happens outside of your comfort zone. However in therapy I learned that growth does not happen outside of your comfort zone, but at the edge of it. Too far from your comfort zone and the experience will bring you nothing but negative feelings and anxiety. You explained it perfectly, Nate!
