Great video! Well done! I bought a pair of Oak Street's Field Boots, and while I think they are comfortable and good-looking, I have to say I am disappointed in their choice of foam instead of cork in the sole. I think I'd like to have the boots upgraded with a better sole now that I know what's in them. Oh well. Thanks again for the excellent video! Subbed!

@BlueSpirit.i’m told they’re using celastic heel counters instead of veg tan as now as well. i tried asking them and i swear to god oak street customer service replied “We use stacked leather in the heel counters with a rubber cap.” lol i’m all set on the brand honestly 500 bucks for this kinda nonsense idc where it’s made

Oak streets factory video shows cork, but the only person I know with these had his insole seperate to reveal foam. I emailed the company about it and they denied the foam and insisted cork. I really wanted these too, this was all while I was waiting for mine to be delivered. When I finally got them they were all creased up like someone already thoroughly wore them around the house. Sold to me as factory firsts non the less. I returned them and was totally disappointed. Maybe this will change in the future but I don’t know.

Hey Tobias! Dave Fanale here. Great video! I’m curious about the linen between the leather midsoles at 5:01. Does that serve the same purpose as wrapping the shank? Thanks!

It was used to help prevent squeaking between the two midsoles

There is no cork in this boot? Is it just a fiber board?
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
Almost. There was that flattened out foam filler
@jaredjantzi59152 жыл бұрын
That's wild. How is that not uncomfortable? No way that filmsy foam can support your foot.
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
It’s got just enough sponge to feel good in the store. Once weight is on it for a short time, it flattened out. The wearer just thinks that is part of breaking in the boots. Unfortunately, that is not the worst foam we see in boots and shoes.
@AdamBrinson2 жыл бұрын
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Wow, bummed to see foam in $400-$500 boots. Reminds me of the first time I saw a goodyear welted Truman torn down and saw the foam there. I've got examples from both and the leather selection and craftsmanship is really good, just sad to see some of the other materials aren't up to the rest of the boot.

@@AdamBrinson unfortunately, we have seen it happened in high cowboy boots also. It’s sad.

It's still kind of hard for me to understand why someone would pay hundreds of dollars to resole a boot with perfectly good soles on them already that look to not have been worn outdoors ever, or at max worn lightly just a few times... but I can't argue with the results.
@WyattDadCobblerCompanyАй бұрын
@@Thunk00 both sides of the argument feel that their way is avoiding wasteful actions. some people want what they want and are willing to go ahead and get it. Others want what they want but their practical side makes them wait so they don’t feel wasteful. The ones that want it now feel like they would be wasting a portion of their life not enjoying what they really want. People customize their vehicles before leaving the dealership. Others wait and do it as replacement parts are necessary. People remodel their homes because it’s not what they want but see how they can have what they want. Others buy homes that need repairs so they feel good about remodeling it and not wasteful. It’s the same with boots and shoes now.

The boots didn’t need new welts structurally. The customer wanted to change the welts for cosmetic reasons.

Tooo much midsole for my taste.

It’s a lot of midsole! You have to be serious about a rigid boot to go double midsole.
