Side note, from mother of feral kids. Make sure you seal all the wood (even under the table) if ever you have kids over, they will wipe their hands under the table, on the chairs, on the table and anywhere they can. I think some adults are that feral too, but not as many!! :D

Much sympathy to all the people of Nelson and surrounds who got flooded out or who even came close to it. We had a rain event in March 2021 here in Nelson Bay, Oz. We live on the side of a steep hill, over 50°, and so much water came down the hill that it overwhelmed our storm-water drainage system. We were lucky that we only got a few inches in our garage, but silt is very difficult to clean out. Neighbours a few houses up the road got flooding in their houses and hardwood floors don't respond well to that.

Nice reuse of timber. 2 things to suggest ( and maybe these were discussed or done off camera, I don't think I missed them). 1 - chamfer, round or sand off the edges to reduce splinters. Particularly underneath with the plywood. 2 A basic coat or 2 of some sort sealant will also help with the splintering of the ply. It doesn't have to look pretty, so it can be cheap and quick. Temporary can be for a long time. Look at Australia's Old Parliament House; the provisional (temporary) seat of our government for 50 years.

Great to see Jess getting more among the work and using the various different tools that so many could be a bit more duanted and hesitant to use....great work young lady...I've seen many a chippy not be overly confident with the use of some tools you've given your hand to...so well done, and never let any tool dictate itself to you...just treat if with the respect it deserves, and be super safe in the process...you'll have it mastered in no time!!!!
