So if you brush 2x & floss, theoretically you shouldn't lose your teeth when 60+ years old?
@WinterMasterPocket

yep,adding the water picker and mouth wash you should be fine till 100 but talking about color is a way more complicated thing to manage.

There is also one thing that wasn't mentioned - tooth wear. Ancient humans had excessive wear, even at relatively young ages. Yes, the harder more fibrous diet wasn't nearly as conducive to tooth decay, but it did cause incredible wear on the tooth surfaces. This essentially meant that many people had tooth pain from wear, and there are excerpts in the Middle Ages of people going to their barbers to get a very painful tooth stub pulled. It's quite graphic. So, your diet either grinds your teeth to a pulp, or dissolves it away. Oral hygiene can ameliorate the latter, but not the former. So everyone, take care of your teeth.

Hey Whitney, i have a question. So my dentist is my relative, and im not satisfied with some of the work he's done, so i went and got it redone by another dentist. And now i need to go back to him for regular teeth cleaning, so i wanted to know if he will notice the new fillings and that his work has been redone?

You're right on that but humans are still on the constant need to survive. We didn't really leave that "phase". People hunt food through competing (LinkedIn), people want to find a cave (housing, an apartment or house), some meat (from Walmart), etc.. nothing really changed when it comes to that even when humans developed consciousness, it has become their primary nature. It's just that, humans became broader. I heard cavemen before would even celebrate milestones, count days, etc.. "IIII-IIII-/", etc.. they also saw "fire" as their savior, they have an interest in what's out there, like Plato's writing says. Cavemans were curious, they just weren't as intelligent as humans nowadays, so it affected their capability of maintaining their hygiene or health, til they discovered fire -- to stop eating raw food that causes diseases, poisoning and worms, and so on..

Cavemen, at least homo sapiens had comparable intelligence to modern day humans, maybe more as average human brain size has gone down in the evolutionary timeline (ik weird right). Its just that they didn’t have the same collective knowledge we have now. Figuring out that food sticking between your teeth causes them to rot away takes a lot of concerted effort. An average modern day human born in a society with equivalent collective knowledge as early humans would have had the same luck trying to figure out how to brush their teeth.

You're lovely but the only part of this video worth listening to was that modern diets are the culprit. Ancient Egyptians ate plenty processed carbs, hence their poor dental health. You have to go back much further when humans ate largely a meat and seafood diet to discover teeth were in great shape. Impacted teeth are a result of poor nutrition. Read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.

Bet your oral routine will take on new emphasis after today. Going on 72 and lost only one molar, knock on wood. I'm in real good shape these days as a result of being better educated on oral health, Whitney and others. Dentist doesn't see much of my $$ these days. .... guessing your extraction itself won't be a huge deal. Afterwards?

Wrong, wrong, WRONG!! This video is absolute trash. Please read this comment, it will unteach you all the nonsence she said. (1) Tooth decay started with civilizations, because of unhealthy dietry changes, such as bread. Yes, bread (and other grain products) is a major contributor to plaque forming on teeth. (2) As dog eats what dog is supposed to be eating, it has fresh oral smell and healthy teeth. And dog has terrible oral smell (and eventualy tooth decay) when given bad foods. Same with any other mammal, including people. (3) Hunter-gatherer tribes had their teeth in a better condition than us today. Do your research, it is a FACT. If anything, modern children are having more tooth decay at younger ages than any other generation before us. Our (uncivilized) ancestors where doing better than us because they had better diets, which incluces: less grain, less sugar, not munching all the time, hard abbrasive foods which do not let form plaque. (4) Even though her arguing is a pile of trash, her conclusion is correct. Yes, we have to brush teeth. Because we are civilized people and we live in a way which is incongruent with our genetic making.

Whats funny is that even though hunter gatherers have fewer cavities, they do have worse periodontal issues. Even teenagers in some of these societies had really deep pockets (5-6mm). At least according to the investigations of Weston Price. I am not contradicting anyones point here, it is just interesting imho.
