Time 29:50. That’s the leather end of suspenders, where you button it on your trousers. That ink could be whole, as there are leaning ones just like that. Love a bead day.

I was thinking that same thing; where the corner of the ink bottle is sheared off is just too deliberate not to be, well...deliberate. It tipped the bottle at just the right angle. I too wish they'd have taken it.

I saw it too! It was only about 4 inches to the left of your hand. It looked like a deep forest green with a deep alluring grey that was polished from the washing of the foreshore. Yes, and the little marshmallows I had been watching a combined video day of Nicolai White and Si Finds and they also found a whole slew of these on the beach. Some of them were different colors (pink, yellow, white) and a weight to them. It turned out they were part of an industrial polishing or finishing at one of the plants up shore that would just let them go down stream in the Thames. To think of all the polluting that goes on. And such beauty that lay buried under the mud for hundreds of years were more and clues to help us better understand how they live.

Wow, what a bead and busty crutton day you ladies had! The stoneware would've said something about it being a footwarmer. Alex, I think the inkwell you found wasn't broken so much as made that way in order to tip the ink bottle on its side. Fantastic new camera the company gifted you two lovely ladies. The foot-age of your footprints was so fun to watch. Loved the hoard of caketop candle holders you found. Great video ladies. I was just watching a video on the Skill Spotter YT channel, of Indian chaps making terracotta pots and they used a sponge to decorate the pot's, a green leaf motive. Gorgeous pots once they are all fired up. Love the blue knuckle bone, I forgot what you call them. The ceramic cylinders are like platonic solids, perfect proportions, very satisfying. Maybe they could be plinths for very small treasures. I found out recently that it was Queen Victoria who started the White Wedding Dress tradition, it didn't exist until she had a white dress. I love your treasures, the way you display them in the light, makes them precious and full of shrewm? magic too.

The ceramic barrel shaped pieces are called "barundums" and are used in media mills to grind inks and paints. I suppose they could also be used as polishing stones as well. If there's 2 of them, there's probably a couple thousand laying around just as likely. 🙂

Gail I'm so jealous of your insulator/spool! I don't know if you buy finished chains, or chain by the foot, but if you purchase by the foot, that insulator would be perfect for chain. The only thing it's missing is the little slit to slip the working end through, but I find that those tend to bend the chain links anyway. A little ball of sticky tack (I don't know what it's really called - that stuff you used to prop up the ring in the final haul) on the top will keep your working end neat. Also, because the insulator is glazed, you can write the company name and SKU for the chain on your spool in Sharpie, and erase it with alcohol if you ever switch products on the spool.

I was watching this video I discovered I missed out on, and had a thought. One way to make something unique that could feature almost any of your finds in any imaginable combination woukd be to make your own little chandelier or set of table lustres. Good bendy wire and thin chandelier-binding wire, your soldering torch for a few connections, and if you like, that ready made perforated metal banding you can get at craftstores for a larger sturdy circle with a screw is all you need. You could make or buy tin candleholders and fit to it. Copper wire, nails, busted flatware like the spoon you found, sherds of pretty china could all be incorporated. The widest circle fitted with pieces of figurines, and dolls lids or a mini mosaic of any patterened pottery bits you find (I notice you rarely pick those up). Yoy could link all your interesting chains together for very decorative hanging and use strings of beads and buttons for the garlands and bend metal wire to shape for the base roughly following a chart for any period of chandelier you fancy. I've seen it done entirely with old silver alloy cutlery and little baking tins and it was a fantastic work of art! Sometimes people make paper craft ones where I live. Yours would be a glorious mudlarking one and could also feature tiny bottles in different colors to hold plant cuttings and catch the light. Having your skills and tools for silversmithing and porcelaine painting and lots of odd bits you don't know what to do with, it's a perfect project for a rainy weekend. You could also wire it for electrical fittings or just thread copper fairy lights into it. I have these metal candle holders in flower shapes that were very inexpensive, used by florists for arrangements with florist clay. I've also seen beautiful window decorations using tiny bottles for cuttings and single blooms hung from a branch of witchhazel with thin fairy lights. Quite an eyecatcher! I've made a few small "fil de fer"-baskets using up my stash of my Grandmothers pretty bone and mother of pearl buttons. They're really lovely objects. Charts for the wire threading can be found in books on "fil de fer" or wire wrapping and likely online, perhaps even youtube! Being a mosaics fan I'd likely haul loads of broken dishes and glass out of the dumps and use old jars or bottles as a base to make mosaic vases and bougie lights. Just some ideas if you ever tire of making jewelry or want to make something monumental to exibit from the bits that aren't suitable for wear. ❤
