👋🏼 Welcome to Scotland, a breathtaking country that often finds it's way in to the top 10 lists of "Most Beautiful Country In The World".
Having already explored the vibrant cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, we have been told by many that if we want to start discovering the true magic of Scotland we need to wave those cities goodbye and start exploring further afield. So join us as we take a 2 day road trip around Scotland and start to discover what we have been missing.
Day 1 sees us head to the magnificent city of Stirling to climb The National Wallace Monument, a formidable sight on the Scottish landscape, before paying a visit to the impressive Stirling Castle. We then head to Falkirk to tick off a bucket list item as we take a boat trip on The Falkirk Wheel before ending our day at the iconic Kelpies.
Day 2 sees us head up the east coast of Scotland to the incredible Dunnottar Castle which sits on top of a rocky outcrop in the North Sea before we take some time to explore the beautiful nearby town of Stonehaven. We end our road trip in the Granite City of Aberdeen to explore Aberdeen Old Town which feels like wandering a living museum.

@@JJExtra I'm from Falkirk, You missed the Antonine Wall, Most folk know about Hadrians wall down in England, Romans tried to build one up here, left and went back to England after 20 years, Just a big ditch really, you also missed a tiny little church yard in the centre of town where William Wallace best friend is burried.

I think you're right that the NE tends to be left out, hence the recent advertising push on television I noticed yesterday for Aberdeen. The borders and Dumfries & Galloway suffer similarly with tourists rattling past in their enthusiam to get to Edinburgh. Glasgow gets forgotten too mind. It's not short of embarrassing stuff (brilliant buildings left to go to ruin, some drunkenness etc). But the Burrell art gallery/museum in Pollok Park (5 minutes on the train from Central) is one the best you'll see and it's free. Back to Aberdeen: I'm guilty of neglecting it for decades so I must put it on my bucket list.

The house itself if French baronial(?) style and houses social history museum and interesting Roman artefacts (the Antonine Wall runs across the bottom of the park! Plus the cafe is beautiful . Loved the Falkirk Wheel - an engineering masterpiece 👏🏻👏🏻 The models of ships, boats and figurines was fun - well done for spotting SpongeBob! I''m definitely in the camp of "Stirling castle is better than Edinburgh". As you say, the staff are dressed up and in character and enthusiastic. Plus just look at the location of it. Edinburgh castle's location is not bad though sitting as it right above the Princes Street gardens and the exit from the rail tunnel (the best way to arrive in EDinburgh imho). By the way, one of the original concepts of sculptor Andy Scott's Kelpies was for them to be moved up and down by the water but the idea was also to allow visitor access inside them which would have brought too many health and safety issues. Urquhart castle is also a cracker for it's Loch Ness location and interest. Nice video thanks guys.

@@JJExtra Wow, wasn't expecting a reply 🤣 Mont Orgueil Castle i think is the better of the two main castles. The other is Elizabeth Castle. Elizabeth is the main one in St Helier and has the addition of "the duck" an amphibious vehicle to get you over to it" But Mont Orgueil or Gorey Castle seems to have more in it. Hamptonne Country museum is an old farming museum. Is actually quite good. The Underground Hospital built in the second world war by the occupying German soldiers is also pretty interesting. Plenty of German fortifications still kicking about, plenty walks, be it cliffs, beaches, some stunning bays. Great food and drink establishments. La Hougue Bie is a Neolithic ritual site which was in use around 4000-3500 BC. And they are away to start re-shooting Bergerac. You may not be old enough to remember the original series 🤣🤣

Been loving your Scotland videos! I visited the Wallace Monument a couple of months ago with friends who were visiting from Portugal. It was pouring down when we were at the top and it was so windy we could barely stand!! I haven't seen proper puff candy in years, it used to be sold everywhere, I miss it! I also prefer Stirling Castle as well. Hope you'll visit Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. You can do cruises on Loch Lomond from Balloch, Luss, Tarbet and Balmaha, have lunch on Inchmurrin Island (private ferry to and from the island!), visit Luss (a famous conservation village that was featured in a soap opera called High Road for many years), visit the viewpoint and art installation at Inveruglas, Visit so many waterfalls (Falls of Falloch, Grey Mares Tail, Falls of Dochart, Falls of Leny, Bracklinn Falls (the most impressive IMO), Inversnaid Falls and Little Fawn), Go for a sail on Loch Katrine, Drive the Duke's Pass, visit Callander, or Aberfoyle and David Marshall Lodge, or do some of the smaller climbs like Conic Hill, Ben A'an, Gouk Hill or the Dumpling. You can tell I used to work for the tourist board! There's tons to do here and not many youtubers or content creators visit cos they're always just passing through!

Are you guys members of English Heritage? If so, you'll get in to Historic Scotland (e.g., Stirling & Edinburgh Castles) and Welsh Cadw properties for half price in Year 1's membership and for FREE thereafter. Shame you missed out on the Antonine Wall - the Roman Wall that stretches from the Firth of Clyde to the Firth of Forth. Quite awesome (you mentioned the Rough Castle tunnel. Rough Castle is a Roman fort on the wall) and it was only just along the hill when you got to the top.

We think he may have been a tour guide. The only Scots we saw wearing kilts were either tour guides or playing the bagpipes on the royal mile 🤣

Queen Victoria built a pyramid to Albert, if that’s the tomb you mean, it’s up at Balmoral. Thanks to Scotland’s roaming rights you can visit and I think they even sell tickets for Afternoon tea at Balmoral now but I’ve heard they are like gold-dust.

That’s the one! Can imagine that afternoon tea is near impossible to get in to.

Why do you have the t-shirt with the red hand on it, its just thats that is my family crest and for obvious reasons we do not use it. The crest came about when my clan tried to win some land, we had a row boat race and who ever touched the land first won the land. My guy was loosing so he just cut his hand off (as you do) and threw it at the land so my clan won the land. The Lamont clan is the third most massicard clan in Scotland. My mother is from the MaCdonald clan, the most massicard clan in Scotland. It's no wonder there is a saying that 'Scotland is built on blood and bone.

We can assure you that hand is not the one from your family crest. If you look closely it is the sections of the hand a palmist would use to ‘read your palm’. It is part of the official merchandise range from some of our favourite KZbinrs, Sam & Colby 👍🏻

I love your Scotland videos. I like that you know you're in Scotland when you come across an IRN BRU. Saying that, I found some IRN BRU in Guernsey, the most southern part of the UK near enough to France.

We do love an Irn Bru and we can get it in supermarkets here but it’s not as abundant as it is in Scotland… which is a shame.
