Yes I know I refer to Red Head as "Red Top" its just how I have always called them. We plan to install a PSC in my truck to be able to compare the two companies in real life.
***The PSC IS about $700.00 for a 2006 Duramax.

I installed a blue top on my 2012 F250 2 months ago... so far it's working better than new, can barely notice any play and almost steers like a car. I upgraded from stock due to a front end rebuild from hitting a curb. Also replaced intermediate shaft with a borgeson which also reduced play.

my blue top and borgeson shaft with shaft bearing will be here soon, also doing gm idler arm and bracket and gm pitman arm all at same time. i cant wait to see what my driving is gunna be like.

About 2009 I put a Red Top in my 8" lifted F250. I honestly couldn't tell much difference from the parts store steering box that was in it before. Seemed like a whole lot of wasted money to me. Maybe I will try a Blue on my lifted Excursion someday. Maybe I won't.

My apologies! I didn't see your comment. I would suggest giving it a try for sure. There isnt much of a price difference from say like NAPA.

I'm sending my steering box off to blue top next week out of my Silverado to get rebuilt now do they center everything back up because when I took my pitman arm off everything got out out of center.

If you broke the center shaft when removing the pitman arm I believe they can not use it. I know they wont refund core charges if the center shaft is damaged.

I installed a 2016 Blue Top in my 99 f350 a few months ago. Steering is better than new. Customer service was also excellent. I replaced a red head that had been in there for a number of years. Now i feel like it needs some sort of upgraded steering pump. That's the weak point on the 99-03s

We are throwing a PSC power steering pump in the Paper Weight this weekend. I think Saginaw makes a good kit for your trucks

@@DIYDiesel I've read only bad about the PSC. Lee power steering makes an upgrade, but it is spendy.

All right all day I’d suggest PSC over blue top or red head if you can afford it if you are right spending that money. Now if you are on a budget the blue top has held out outstanding it’s a great gearbox had zero issues with it I know quite a few pick people that have the blue top that have zero issues few people did have issues but Bluetop got back to them right away and they got a new one sent out to them with no cost to them other than shipping back the old one. Redhead I have seen a lot of issues with them I’ve heard a lot of issues with the customer service I am not speaking from personal experience so it’s just my opinion I did talk to a representative from redhead on TikTok and he backed his company product a lot more than I anticipated someone to back their product, but if I was suggesting affordable gearbox I’d suggest is blue top all day.

I don’t mind throwing down to “buy once cry once”. PSC 6 bolt top’s size has my attention and appears to have glowing reviews on xdp. Your Blue top feedback is consistent with what I’ve read, though it’s plan b at the moment. That’s the gist I’m learning about redhead. I’m not sure what’s going on with them but I’d rather not have the possibility of doing this again in 12k miles. Thanks for the feedback. If you do the psc on your truck do you plan on installing the OEM cooler too?

@@LBZOverlander no problem! So I do plan on doing the cooler when I upgrade my pump since it’s all already apart it’s too easy to do that with it as well.

Honestly with the reliability of a company I’d go with DMAX store they now have them as well. You’ll get basically the same thing, but with better customer service and company steadiness. Blue top actually shut down for awhile last year due to low staffing.

After talking to numerous shops I’ve come to the conclusion both Red and Blue top are great boxes. Unfortunately both companies are paying people to write degrading reviews. Sounds like they have family issues. I went with the red top so we shall see!👍🏼
