While I understand what you are trying to say here, these issues are not as common as this. Not by a long shot. They don't edit their issues out because they want to look honest and be all "hey we have problems too!". They don't edit them out because if they did, their videos would be either 3 minutes long or waiting months for a 10 minute video. The issues they have astonishes me as someone who does a ton of work in the performance car world. I have never seen or heard of anyone or any other shop having this many issues with the amount of money they throw into these projects. Don't use these guys for any sort of measurement or look up to them for any sort of sense of normal. Because they are not that at all.

The fan shroud for the radiator does make a significant difference in high stress situations. If you plan on taking the car to the track regularly, you should definitely run a fan shroud. If your plan is to have a street car that doesn't get beat on regularly, the shroud is optional, but keep in mind that you still might have cooling issues if it's too hot outside.
@LowFlyinOK
@LowFlyinOK 5 ай бұрын
The fans really don't do as much when the car is moving, the air flowing through the front of the car does most of the cooling. They don't really need to shroud the fans, but they really should close the front end up and force the air through the radiator, cooler, and condenser.

There’s no such thing as “little but scoops/forces air into the intakes” Needs to be about 4” tall to really do any practical “scooping” and if need to go about 400+mph to get any actual forcing of air into the intake… They do need to put a scoop there but it’d be only for cosmetic reasons…and the hole needs to be larger …as it is it only allows about half that filter to work off “fresh outside air” and half from hot under hood air… They really need to cut back a bit on the front of the hood and bend it down to allow all “fresh” air in and minimize hot enough bay air…kinda like that fam shroud thing they mentioned not needing…ask the Miata about it, he got a fancy customs one for that car and it wasn’t just for looks

All tuner channels eventually arrive at this conclusion. Street cars are honestly garbage to modify, nothing is designed to be easy to replaced because it's all meant to go 200k+ miles before being changed. Buy a race kart or a real no-compromise tube frame race car if you want a track vehicle, then buy some sports car that suits your needs and limit mods to intake, exhaust, maybe a header, and maybe suspension.

@Demoralized88
@Demoralized88 4 ай бұрын
AC is extremely simple, it's basically 2 radiators (with fans) in a loop with a compressor in the middle. The radiator outside removes heat from the fluid, the radiator inside blows cold air. The only other thing needed in the loop is a flow restriction and filter, but it's very easy to understand as 2 radiators with a compressor in the middle.

I have to add a small correction, the A/C evaporator is there to allow the fan to blow air through the fins REMOVING heat from the cabin, the air comes out cooler but the actual process is about removing the heat and not just adding cold air to the cabin and combining it with the hot air already in the cabin (this is why you get water condensation that flows from a tube inside the cabin to be dropped outside the car it’s the warm air condensing and turning into water when the heat is removed) There really is no such thing as cold air “cold” is technically just an absence of heat
@jackieTHorn
@jackieTHorn 5 ай бұрын
Moisture is also removed from the cabin air, and dry air is pumped in. It's why the AC does such a good job "drying" windshields of condensation.

Yeah, I found it more confusing than anything tbh. I thought the point of a compressor was to release energy from the refrigerant because it’s unable to hold as much in a liquid state, then allow it to evaporate into a gas in a different location thereby absorbing thermal energy as it does so. Which in an ac application is absorbed from the air you blow past the fins

Guys, respectfully, you may want to put it on another dyno or consult with a different tuner. A k20 (r) with cams and itbs should be around 250whp on a dynapack. Stock k20 type r motors with an RBC intake usually make 230-240. Its possible the dyno reads lower than average, but 230 is particularly low for that combination.
@kylewise3111

They are running electric power steering that's taking up a LOT of amperage, on a factory alternator. Probably causing a good bit of drag on the engine, plus adding the new a/c compressor doesn't help.
@dalelangevin4571
@dalelangevin4571 5 ай бұрын
@kylewise3111 eh I could see a 2-3hp loss from accessories, but not 20+. Also, ac clutch is disengaged when full throttle so it's not driving the compressor. And the power steering only draws amps when steering. On dyno neither ps or ac are putting significant load on the engine.
@kylewise3111
@kylewise3111 5 ай бұрын
@dalelangevin4571 that's fair, I didn't think about that. I guess I was more thinking regular street driving where you'd see load like that, lol. That is a good bit to be off on the numbers then, maybe it's a fueling/tuning problem, could explain the car dying at the end of the video
@michaelbrinks8089
@michaelbrinks8089 5 ай бұрын
@@kylewise3111Yeah I was surprised they never mentioned going to a larger Amp alternator. I'm wondering which has higher parasitic engine load. The normal power steering pump. Or high Amp electric pwr steering motor? If the E pump motor didn't run constantly & turned on when the wheels needed to turn sharp above a certain angle. Then it might be better.
