No, Katie's grandma isn't Mrs Chen from Venom. Wong WAS the librarian at Kamar Taj because the previous one was murdered by Kæcilius at the beginning of the movie. The monster he was fighting was the Abomination from the Incredible Hulk, albeit with a bit of a redesign. He now looks just like his comic book appearance.

to be fair multiple times in the phase 2 and 3 reactions they remember stuff from earlier films that I expected to go right over their heads. Phase 4 and 5 is where I fear Marvel is losing the general audience, as evidenced by these reactions. Shang-Chi was way better than I expected! The martial arts action is both cool and refreshing for the MCU, the acting performances are great, and I appreciate how this is a good standalone movie even for people who haven’t seen many of the previous MCU films with the exception of some character appearances. Hope Destin Daniel Cretton does a great job with the next Avengers film!

This film had influences from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Dragon Ball Z, Jackie Chan's filmography, the Ip Man series, Tai Chi Master, Kung Fu Hustle, The Matrix, Speed, anime, and video games. Brad Allan, rest in peace. I was only 12 years old in 1996. Since 1993, I have been a fan of Shang-Chi.

Definitely looking forward to this one! 😊 This was one of those movies that I was slightly nervous about watching because I knew nothing about Shang-Chi from the comics. And I ended up loving it. It's definitely one of the best in Phase 4. Great cast, great storyline, and great visuals. And the cameos from past MCU characters worked. I always love seeing Wong. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

It was only 2 days for the path on the map to become clear. The creature Wong was fighting in the cage was the abomination the villain in The incredible Hulk movie. Shang-chi martial arts skills are so great even without the 10 Rings he can go toe-to-toe with superpowered characters and win. Of course with the 10 rings he can go toe-to-toe with characters on the same level as Thor.

Fun fact: the guy livestreaming in the bus near the start of the film was in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It's all connected. Say what you will about the TV shows, the shows you saw established a lot of the stuff you see in the background in this film, particularly what you guys caught about the post-blip support which was a main plot point in Falcon & Winter Soldier. Vince caught Wong, but it looks like you guys missed that the big green thing he was fighting was Abomination, the bad guy from The Incredible Hulk. The motion capture was done by someone else, but the voice was done by the original actor Tim Roth (even though it's mostly growls and grunts in this one). Again, it's all connected. Vince was also right. Ben Kingsley reprises his role as stage actor Trevor Slattery, who in Iron Man 3 played the part of The Mandarin for the cameras. There's a Marvel Short Film called "All Hail the King" where they show the REAL Mandarin, the bad guy in this film, breaking him out of jail to punish him for using his name without permission. One last time, it's all connected. You're already over 11+ films so it'd be good for you to do a refresher of what you've seen before because you might miss details later on, especially with returning characters. That also applies to the TV shows once you hit the next Doctor Strange movie.

You know a lot of people say the same thing when at first they see Shang-Chi's parents fight each other they look like they are dancing, and for the most part, they actually are and that's basically one of the many aspects of the many Martial Art Stiles and technics you literally dance with your opponent and if you make the wrong move you get hit. Am I wrong? anyone? maybe but that is what I know and how I was taught.

Very random fact: In the bus scene, one of the extras is a guy I went to high school with and we're still social media friends. When I saw that scene, I was like "that is NOT who I think it is?!" I ended up messaging him about it and he was all nonchalant like "yep, that's me." He said it was cool to see the action up close.

The Bus scene 6:45 is inspired by Oldboy (2003) corridor fight. The fight with the Masked Ninja 12:45 is inspired from Kakashi vs Obito fight (Naruto Shippuden). That's what I picked up aside from all the other references mentioned here.

Hey, guys! Loved your reaction to this awesome movie! I think a lot of fans wondered whether Marvel could still make really good movies, once "Infinity War" and "Endgame" were over. This one proved it was still more than possible. Glad you mentioned how good Wen Wu was as a villain. What's even more amazing is that he was played by veteran Hong Kong actor Tony Leung. He's spent almost 30 years working in TV and film, and is basically a household name in his hometown. But throughout his career, Leung had never taken part in a Hollywood project -- until this one. The fact that for his first Hollywood movie, and his first English-speaking role, he chose to be in an MCU film is mind-blowing. It was a real coup for Marvel Studios to convince him to join, and as you noted, his presence in this story was incredible. It was cute to see Shoshanna hoping to see unicorns in Ta Lo. Unfortunately, it wasn't about to happen, though. The fantastic creatures we saw there are all based on Chinese and East Asian mythology, not Western. And as you might have guessed, that's the source for a lot of other intellectual properties, like Pokemon. The closest thing they had to unicorns there in Ta Lo were the qilin, the large scaled horses that crossed our heroes' path on the way in.

It's funny that you mention Michelle Yeoh was in Crazy Rich Asians. So were Aquafina and Ronnie Chang. But Michelle is best known for her role in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, and for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. She won an Oscar for EEAAO. She is known in China for her martial arts skills, starring with Jackie Chan in many international hits, and writes and produces too. Also, Shawn's and Katy's friend who thinks they're lazy also starred in EEAAO with Michelle. This was a fun movie. The creatures are from Chinese legends. the Qilin are the dragon scaled horse-like creatures. And the lions were Chinese Guardian Lions. That is why they acted like they own the place and it is why you see them as statues in front of many buildings or rooms. The 9-tail fox is said to have the ability to disguise itself as a beautiful human woman! Naruto's spirit is 9-Tails and is often depicted as a 9-tail fox. Great reactions and lots of fun! Looking forward to the next one!

If you like the fight scenes, the Le brothers (Andy and Bryan Le) also choreographed the fight scenes in "everything, everywhere, all at once". They're also KZbinrs who do fight choreography and stunts, with friends, called "martial club". Michelle Yeo (the mother) is also in "everything, everywhere, all at once" and the epic "crouching Tiger, hidden dragon" as well as many others.

Love this one! So many call-backs. The Ten Rings appear in the first Ironman, they are the guys that kidnap Tony Stark (you can see their logo behind Tony in the video they send to Obie). Trevor Slattery - the acTOR -from Ironman 3 comes back. Wong (now the sorcerer supreme since Dr Strange got blipped) is back. Abomination (Hulk villain that is fighting with Wong) returns from Incredible Hulk. Kev (the guy who records the bus fight) is also in Spiderman Homecoming, with his famous line : "Do a flip!" Spoiler alert: Bruce was supposed to be in smart Hulk form permanently unable to turn back into a human because my heart is the combined form of both of them. He needed to turn himself back to human form because he was unable to heal as the hulk because of the extra gamma ray his body absorbed from the infinity gauntlet. Gamma ray the hulk his powers but it also can effect him even kill him.

I was going through your MCU watch playlist, and not to pressure you guys but there's a few Disney plus series missing from the list, they include: She Hulk: Attorney at Law Werewolf by Nighy The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Secret Invasion I would like your reactions to these as well, while they're not perfect, except for Werewolf by Night, but they're worth watching
