Hey Taylor i just got a hi-tech flat lap and i am having a problem not sure what to do. I use the 80 grit to get my slabs flat but when i go to next grit i have to reflaten the stone with that grit. It grinds in the center like the center is high. Is it something i am doing wrong?

I LOVE your content but I can't seem to find any friends who enjoy rockhounding like I do! I'm just learning how to spot good agates but I don't want to limit myself to just one kind of mineral/stone. I already have 3 plant shelves surrounded with a collection of what if found. Many are fossils! Some are just granite but a new piece of granite looks like it has garnets in it!!! Thank you for making your channel family friendly! God bless you for being conscious of how you affect others! And God bless your family too!

I am 72. When I was a child i would get stones from the creek and crack them opened in our back yard with my dads hammer. No safety gear at all!! LOL My grandson, age 10, has a great collection. I sent your videos to him to help him learn from you. Thank you so much! We all appreciate you.

It's not hard, when you've been studying geology for most of your life, like I have. Mineral nodules usually have agates inside. You just have to know how to pick the right places to find them.

Enjoyed the video. The Botswana agate that had the great banding but also had that weird hole in it...if you'll take a quarter inch or so slab from both halves you won't waste so much material, and you also won't have to grind as much. It might be easier to get rid of that hole in that manner. What do you think?

Hi, AD! New, ignorant rockhound here! Really enjoying and binging on your channel. But l feel dumb as a stump. Took geology, have a ton of rock ID books, bowls of stones, but still can't figure out how to tell a good rock from a meh rock. Working on it. My uncle lived in Seattle,, had a saw, huge tumbler, a rock workroom, pails of stones everywhere. He and my aunt traveled everyplace. Brazil for amethysts, Australia for opals, crystals in Arkansas...once, they were hunting rubies in a low creek in Burma, looked up, and there were tribesmen watching, who did NOT want them there-despite permission. I live in an area rich in geodes and am trying to figure those out, too. Sorry to run on, but so glad l found your channel! 🌻
