I'm impressed by how long that motor lasted. Considering the number of dyno pulls, mods, playing on the street and trips to the strip...that motor did all that could reasonably be asked of it. I'm looking forward to the next version!!!

Well sometimes when the limites are pushed on a stock bottom end, and you found what those parts limites are, top end horsepower and RPM'S were the limites. Like you said the top of all the pistons looks the same. Nothing abnormal just a connection rod broke and causing all that damage. Again sorry for the engine failure, but great video to see what happened.

Hat tip to your forensic approach. Particularly that which is causative vs consequential damage. The next level is some fractographic analyses. Could be HCF, could be LCF, could be dynamic overload, and could be facilitated by something wrong with the rod or piston material/manufacturing (not likely).

Sorry to see your first GT500 have an engine failure, but I'm amazed from your videos by the number of pulls, dyno runs and hot laps run at 8000+ RPMs that engine handled. It appears Ford did a solid job building the Predator for continued punishment with a horsepower ceiling in the area of 1000 horsepower with the factory 760 horsepower obtained at 7300 RPM. It will be interesting hearing what internal upgrades you'll recommend if you're looking to safely exceed that horsepower number for the track. When you start pushing the envelope of increasing horsepower and running 9 second laps with a stock block. Bad things can happen. Drag racing can become expensive. Of all the U-Tube performance content. Your at the top with your GT500 content. Looking forward seeing the new Hellion twin turbo GT500 and the difference between the supercharged version and the twin turbos. Thanks for the great informative content.

Geezz. Looks like it needed more piston ring end gap. Seen bunches broke coyotes for exactly same reason Tune not a factor. Hot piston rings butted together, blew off piston top. Gotta run .030 or better gap when pushing this hard. Oh well, time to slap in the thicker Darton cylinder sleeved block to hold a little more boost. Eventually there may be an improved race block made , but the narrow cylinder bore centers always limit displacement.

I see the limit at about 1250-1300wheel at 8500rpm. of course engines are all different, but 1500 crank is MORE than enough for a badass car. I have absolutely no idea why they wouldn't do a forged rod, but now i'm predicting a forged rod gt500 for 2023 maybe, maybe a 'terminator' version with forged rods and pistons... would easily hold 1500hp I feel like. It's insane how ford could spend literally 1-2k on forged components and make the car so much more reliable.

It sounded great, then, all that smoke. It's funny how Proline, no prep kings, and others only have Chevy or Hemi. Not one Ford anymore.

the is engine with stock internals can handle at max 1000hp why pushover that and not build it inside? Of course failure is going to happen

Just curious.. why not go max effort with the built motor and a blower? Now it's just another twin turbo mustang. The GT500 Being a blower car is what makes it different. I love the car and the work you guys do so I am not bashing it . Just interested in why!!

Blowers are great but they have their limits and running a 1500 hp street car with a blower is nearly unheard of. And there is a reason for that. Blowers shine up to 1200-1300 and then you really start having a lot of issues with both power management and drivability. Plus, we are going where blowers CAN'T go. 1600+ RWHP

Ok so 172 mph is too fast for a stock bottom end motor. Good to know. I'll let off the gas at 170
