I'm impressed by how long that motor lasted. Considering the number of dyno pulls, mods, playing on the street and trips to the strip...that motor did all that could reasonably be asked of it. I'm looking forward to the next version!!!

Well sometimes when the limites are pushed on a stock bottom end, and you found what those parts limites are, top end horsepower and RPM'S were the limites. Like you said the top of all the pistons looks the same. Nothing abnormal just a connection rod broke and causing all that damage. Again sorry for the engine failure, but great video to see what happened.

Geezz. Looks like it needed more piston ring end gap. Seen bunches broke coyotes for exactly same reason Tune not a factor. Hot piston rings butted together, blew off piston top. Gotta run .030 or better gap when pushing this hard. Oh well, time to slap in the thicker Darton cylinder sleeved block to hold a little more boost. Eventually there may be an improved race block made , but the narrow cylinder bore centers always limit displacement.

Sorry to see your first GT500 have an engine failure, but I'm amazed from your videos by the number of pulls, dyno runs and hot laps run at 8000+ RPMs that engine handled. It appears Ford did a solid job building the Predator for continued punishment with a horsepower ceiling in the area of 1000 horsepower with the factory 760 horsepower obtained at 7300 RPM. It will be interesting hearing what internal upgrades you'll recommend if you're looking to safely exceed that horsepower number for the track. When you start pushing the envelope of increasing horsepower and running 9 second laps with a stock block. Bad things can happen. Drag racing can become expensive. Of all the U-Tube performance content. Your at the top with your GT500 content. Looking forward seeing the new Hellion twin turbo GT500 and the difference between the supercharged version and the twin turbos. Thanks for the great informative content.

It's a good job. We hand assemble each engine on a very small oval line. Only you & your support partner touch the engine. Then the builders name goes on the super charger or cam cover on the older ones. Met a lot of amazing people working on Niche Line. It's been great.

Hat tip to your forensic approach. Particularly that which is causative vs consequential damage. The next level is some fractographic analyses. Could be HCF, could be LCF, could be dynamic overload, and could be facilitated by something wrong with the rod or piston material/manufacturing (not likely).

What's the Julian date code on the oil pan left "ear"? I machine those pans and the oil filter assembly. Also when did you buy the vehicle? It looks to have the old style oil pressure sensor which would make it one of the earlier vehicles produced by Ford. Thanks!

What was the race weight? You guys must've been over 4000lbs. With turbos I think the motor would have survived a bit longer and gone faster. 1300whp with a blower probably has 200whp of parasitic loss.

Never done. We have our 2021 with a supercharger on it still and of course many local customers we use for development. I think 1100 is a great spot to be powerwise

Its a cool car. I think you've proven this correct in your other videos, if you want to buy a car to build, and you are a mustang fan- the 5.0 is better to start with. Its way cheaper, and when you blow up (or if you do) its going to be significantly cheaper to rebuild it, and it can make just about as much power.

U could do a bit more cam adjustments U can hear the piston dead floating on top revs also that means lost bang and lost bang means= lost ponies or whatnot... Just because it sounds great moves like never before means carefully running more than 40-60pound !!!says no one run max boost add extra injectors make shure U don't forget the water injection and get some chemical school kidto let U know wat ratio water to whatever you decide go long ratio diff and a long runway

It will. The instant power from the blower is one of the factors in this type of rod damage.

That didn’t look like a spun bearing. The journal is perfect looks like some fretting between the bearing and the cap. Nothing to worry about. You over powered the one rod. Maybe the injector wasn’t flowing 100%. All the bearing damage is because the engine stayed running. It was able to suck junk into the filter.

The big issue on push to start and DCT cars. Can't easily throw it in neutral and shut it off. You have to hold the button down for awhile for it to happen and in these situations, it's tough.

@@CarbonYote - At “only” 7000 RPM the engine would still turn about 350 revolutions in 3 seconds. More than enough to cause all the secondary damage due to oil starvation and metal contamination in the oil.

The CJ block is not for this platform and I wouldn't use it if it was. The factory GT500 block will go very far without the weight penalty.

Just curious.. why not go max effort with the built motor and a blower? Now it's just another twin turbo mustang. The GT500 Being a blower car is what makes it different. I love the car and the work you guys do so I am not bashing it . Just interested in why!!

Blowers are great but they have their limits and running a 1500 hp street car with a blower is nearly unheard of. And there is a reason for that. Blowers shine up to 1200-1300 and then you really start having a lot of issues with both power management and drivability. Plus, we are going where blowers CAN'T go. 1600+ RWHP

Any chance someone from this shop give me a contact number? My dad has a 2000 R with 2100 miles on it and the motor is locked up due to the head gasket on the passenger side had a water leak got into the cylinder and rusted a piston to the cylinder wall or to the crankshaft. It’s not apart but it needs a little TLC and if I can help this car ever see the road again depending on $ I might try. That being said I’m not a big mustang fan but it’s to rare of a car to continue to sit and rot away because he won’t fix it or sell it.
