The hole is for timing it. The convertor has timing marks like the balancer. They do this in vans and RV’s because you can’t get a timing light up front to see the timing marks.

To stroke that 440 you need a different rotating assembly. Then the 6 pack rods and crank mean nothing. The 452 heads are decent but if you are going to "STROKE" it you might want to upgrade the heads along with the rotating system. Otherwise its just an average low compression 440. Most people ditch the 6 pack rods in favor of lighter rods any way. Unless you are rebuilding a 6 pack engine.

MD/HD trucks, RV & industrial motors use a raised exhaust port head and the trannies have the Bendix parking drum on the tail housing. They are a beefy bottom end, though

Pulling an engine on a gravel/ dirt lot is best to lift the engine, and pull the chassis backwards.

Those 440 big blocks with small block heads on them don't make enough power to hurt the normal version of the block anyway.... You'll never need that block... 🤷🏻

The hole in the bellhousing is for timing the engine,the converter has the marks,it's so you can time it from inside instead of from the front! You ever try to do anything on a rv,,,they are not fun

HAD a 69 440 out of a division chifs cali highway patrol DODGE POLARIS,think it was rated 400 hp before adding a few goodies to it!.think it had 35-40 k miles on it!!

NO! The highest factory rated 440 was a Six-Pack motor, and it made 390h.p. A cop car CERTAINLY isn't going to have anything like a Six-Pack engine installed in it..
