In this episode we repair the broken electrical engine oil pressure priming pump on a T-72 fitting it however was a different story..
This video just highlights how such a cheap and small part can cause the whole vehicle to fail.
Fingers crossed the electrical starter motor isn't broken either !

Regarding Bearings. Waaaay back in the Day (70s), I worked at a company that made Aircraft Wheels for the Military. One piece Aluminum. But we’d have to fit Steel Bearings onto the Aluminum Wheels. The solution that worked was to place the Bearings in a Freezer, then put the Wheels on a Heated Grill for a few hours on low heat. The Wheels would expand, the Bearings would contract, most of the time they would just fit together perfectly. If they were a little tight, we’d then place them on a Big Arbor Press and, using the appropriate pressing block for the Bearings, put them together. Sometimes, you’d have to have one person pulling down on the Press Handle while someone else would grab the 5 lb Sledge Adjustment Tool and hit the Top of the Press Ram to “Persuade” it to seat. If that didn’t work, we’d bring in the Quality Control Inspector, who would measure the Bearing Well and usually find out that it was Machined wrong. Then the wheel was either re-machined or Scraped. But I say that 99% of the time, they would fit together just fine, and when they came up to Room Temperature together, it was “Bob’s your Uncle!” Also, if you are going to hammer in a Bearing like you did, grab a Socket that covers the outer race and hit that. Much more uniform Force applied all the way around. Hope this helps.

Excellent repair Mr Hewes, apart from the wd40 on the carbon brushes! Commutators and brushes should be bone dry or the carbon dust mixes with whatever you put on them and turns into a form of grinding paste! Those springs look remarkably like Lucas dynamo springs, but i wouldn’t bother taking it out again to check if I were you! Phil

That was excellent. That oil priming pump is incredibly reminiscent of the hydraulic brake top up pump used on the Nimrod aircraft, that I worked on for many years. Normally a problem in the medium to long terms, yes, but with Russian designed and built tanks it won't affect it in the slightest. It actually does the tank good to occasionally submerge it in salt water and then fill the entire interior with fine silica dust before running it over a 250 mile off road course in summer with no coolant and then just smack the living shite out of random bits for 5 minutes with the biggest hammer you can find. Reminds it who's boss and fills all the gaps in components with solid fused silca fill. That's why T72's are waterproof.

These tanks were not intended for repair. They were mass-produced on the assembly line. The USSR produced tens of thousands of these tanks. In addition, the service life of the tank engine was only 10 thousand kilometers. After which the tank was sold for scrap. So there was no point in making the rest of its parts more durable and repairable...

I live 1 hour drive from factory where this particular tank was built - clearly markings inside the cabin are in Slovak language, that means it is from ZŤS Martin factory plant (no longer existing). You made a point in video before - some of those electrical components are oversised for what they do - explanation is easy: electroengineering and components back in the day were lacking from funding, know how and obsolete manufacturing processes, so they had to use not very optimised components. You can look at Czechoslovak refridgerator same way, bulky, noisy, powerhungry. But cheap.
