One of the pleasures is hearing the happiness in Dave's voice whenever a baby gets it's foster mom. Love the 30 year history of his fight to establish the VMF.

You know what else I love about this place? That they answer questions, thank a kind commenter, and even explain a specific process to those who inquire. Very personable, ingratiating and care about sharing the lives of those monkeys. So many of us get attached to them as we watch them arrive then thrive. That you all are keen to share all of the steps is heartwarming. 🥰

Amazing indeed! It is priceless to see a monkey female race over and just throw her heart open to loving a scared and motherless infant. As she's holding the baby it sometimes seems like she's telling the tiny little thing, "is all okay now tiny one, for you are motherless no more" 😍🥰 I always run it back from the moment the "mommy" rushes in and straight to the crying & terrified baby, so I can watch it again and again. Such good work you all do there. So much dedication and love you selflessly give. I'm a huge fan of each of you. 🥰

It really is so astonishing what is possible when everything is there for the little ones to begin again. It must be profoundly gratifying for you guys , who’ve been there since the beginning , to continue to be such an effective and meaningful part of ensuring that their trauma and loss is minimized to the degree that it is. To simply stand back and witness the healing, confidence instilled and then for them to thrive beyond the beyond. What a huge thing to endeavor , let alone for it all to come to THIS ! Who would’ve imagined the possibilities ?! 💚👏🏽🥰👍🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Well that certainly was a different approach from those two Mums! I love to see how quickly the little ones adopt the natural position clinging on to the Mum's fur from underneath and wind their tail round the Mum's tail. Not something they've done with the volunteers! Great result at the end of this video... Successful integration after a somewhat unorthodox start! 😉. Nice to hear Mark's voice too at the start.

It's been awhile since I've been able to see an episode, the ones I've seen, the moms have had to patiently wait for the babies to calm down and come to them or come close enough to be nabbed and held long enough for a bond to be made. There were times when moms wanted out for whatever reason, either they weren't happy or the babies weren't. This is the first time I've seen one mom🐵come down from the branches go quickly up to Fudge🐒 on the feeder cage and just pulled him/her into her arms and then take Fudge to the front of the enclosure lip smacking all the while. Then the mom Millie🐵came into the enclosure and went straight up to Mara🐒and pulled her into her arms and wouldn't let go and took her over to the other mom and Fudge lip smacking to her all the while. Then with both moms lip smacking, they huddled together comforting and hanging onto the babies, not letting them squirm away no matter what 😇🥰😍🥰😇!!! I've never seen any mom (except for maybe mrs Gold (?Goldie?) ) run in and grab a baby into a hug the way these two moms did to these two babies and the babies being so shocked didn't freak out completely. Any time I've seen a mom grab a baby in surprise, the baby has always had a total freak out🥰😍🥰😍🥰!! It was so precious to see and so priceless 💖 💕 at the same time that both moms got their babies (the ones they wanted) and all that happened was a bit of a struggle, the babies were so caught off guard and it happened so fast they didn't have time to be traumatized at all🙃😉🙃🙂😉🙃🙂🙂🥰😍🥰🤪😝😜!!!

I am curious how you handle a situation when you discover that one of the babies isn't getting to the feeding cage after the release with the new mom? Or, maybe is getting into the cage but not drinking as often or as much as needed?
@josiehumble5907 Жыл бұрын
We have a few tricks, we try to show them the milk bottle, we need to stand far away from the milk cages so the mums allow them to approach. If they don't drink within 24hrs then we ensure there are extra water bowls added and juicy fruits and try to get them back into the introduction cage until they've had a drink. Most do drink within the first 24hrs.

I feel so sorry for these babies and I understand that they go through different trauma’s but y’all keep saying that they get attached to the humans and have trauma but when they are scared to death of the new mothers coming in, everyone laughs and says “oh look ha ha ha, momma is not going to let her go” Aren’t they going through trauma when this happens? I just don’t get what makes it different. Trauma is trauma

Doesn't look very consensual
@VervetMonkey Жыл бұрын
Primates, including monkeys, often exhibit social and nurturing behaviors towards other members of their group, including holding and carrying infants. This behavior is a natural and important part of primate social dynamics, as it helps to promote social bonds and the development of young primates.

You are feeding her in front of all them. Do you think we are stupid? Very clear what your intentions are. Grow up and figure out a different incime because this one is gonna end soon
@VervetMonkey Жыл бұрын
It's important to understand that feeding a baby monkey in front of others is not an indication of any ill intentions. Just like breastfeeding a human baby, feeding a baby monkey is a natural and necessary act of care for the animal. Assuming that someone has ulterior motives based on such an innocent act is unfair and unwarranted. Additionally, suggesting that someone should "figure out a different income" because of it is also baseless and unhelpful. It's important to remember that people have the right to pursue their chosen careers and means of income, as long as it's legal and ethical. Criticizing someone's livelihood without justification is not productive or fair. Ultimately, it's important to approach situations with understanding and empathy, rather than making unfounded assumptions and engaging in judgmental behavior.

Brandie, the Vervet Monkey Foundation already gave you a great answer, but here's a quick question. Are you in the habit of making unfounded comments without even bothering to get some information first, or did you just decide to do that on this particular channel? You sound really paranoid ; as if this monkey rescue organization has deliberately set out to try to trick you. Please seek help. Please seek help quickly!
