you will need an unoccupied "docking port" to call in scientists. any ore nodes on or within 5 blocks from the surface can be mined with the drills. you could forgo the drills and just use mining drones if you don't want to micromanage the drills, as they mine out each node fairly fast. it's the deeper nodes that require using the drones or manually mining them.

That's great information, thanks! I need to work on getting people to the station so I can start the research that will unlock the advanced mining. I'll be working towards that in the next few episodes.

I'm thinking the coal splitters should be 0-5-1 for the first one, 0-4-1 for the next etc. Last one need no splitter of course.

You're right, but I intentionally set the ratios as if I was going to have carbon reactors on both sides of that main belt. As it turns out, I'm going to be doing something very different with power generation soon. Stay tuned! 😺

Use the hook to connect once your in range, will save you from trying to line up once your level with the planetoid.

@glidercat your fuel ratio is perfect it is just because you only have the single line of generators so far so all the extra filters to the end one

this was the most frustrating episode i couldnt watch anymore straight put me on tilt.. especially starting with the damn automating oxygen.. which is literally the first thing that should of been done in EP 1SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a huge fan of the oxygen dome, but I do put one up later.

Why did you make another level and not just make the current level bigger ?

With 2D games like Factorio, you're stuck building on only one level. To me, that can get a bit dull. In games like Astro Colony, Evospace, and Satisfactory, I find it a lot more fun to come up with factory designs that take advantage of the 3D world.
