Earlier this year I was in Carlsbad on holiday from Scotland and dropped in to Iconics workshop to say hello. The guys couldnt have been nicer spending time with me and my family, gave us the full shop tour and chatted for ages. All while they were under pressure when getting ready for NAMM. The quality of the work they are doing is second to none and the dressing of fret ends is unmatched. Beautiful guitars by beautiful people.

Iconic guitars are ridiculously good. I found them on accident, as they are located right next to one of my favorite pedal shops in Carlsbad. I have been obsessed with them ever since. The Tamarack absolutely blows my Fender Tele out of the water in every aspect, and I’m sure the Solana would do the same to my Fender Strat. Incredible guitars with insane attention to detail.

The names of the guitars are named after California state beaches in San Diego county area. Tamarack is a popular surfing location in North County San Diego. Solana is near Del Mar. Cardiff and Carlsbad are also famous beaches. One might say the names are of San Diego towns however I would argue that because Tamarack is not a town but the name of a road and state beach.

Hey Lars, while we love the two-point and use it quite often, the 6-screw trem feel a bit different under hand and tuning stability is impeccable with this version of the 510 as well.

Tele looks and sounds good BUT if you want greater Tele tonal variety, get one that has the Greg Koch Fishman Fluence Tele pickups (Reverend and Fret-King both far less expensive).

The Iconic boys built me a custom 7 string Vintage Modern. Hands down my favorite guitar to play. If you're into S or T style guitars, these are the best

@@talkychris But Iconic has really great artist relations and even if Mike Lipe guitars are the best, the Iconic guys are super awesome people. I was in need of a 7 string in very short notice (got booked for session work and a mini tour with an artist) and i reached out. They hooked me up with a custom Solana Vintage Mondern in a month's time. Not many boutique builders would be that accommodating.

@@willmurphy8650 I haven't played an Iconic to be fair. I just saw that headstock and was like "that shape is identical to a Lipe." Mike Lipe died about three years ago, his guitars are all hand made by him so they're very rare. I am lucky to have three. He's worth looking up on Wikipedia and his website is still online. Maybe I'll need to pop down to Andertons, I live 20 minutes away and play an Iconic. I can't afford one right now, it's been an expensive year already for new gear.

It's great to have exposure to a brand I wasn't aware of and these guitars look sick. However, I wish you carried Suhr and whilst this is a good alternative I still feel there is a gap in your portfolio.

I am sure these are great guitars, but I own three Fender American Ultras and they are also great and very well built for a thousand less. So, there has to be something really special about these to justify the difference other than the exclusivity of a boutique brand.

It’s an elusive thing for sure… I’ve played great Squires and uninspiring Custom Shops. Had been playing Teles and Strats almost exclusively for 25 years when I came across my first Iconic. Never looked back. I have 3 Iconic Solanas (Strat type) and 2 Tamarack (Tele style)… it’s a very personal thing for sure. Fender did step up with the Ultra, but they don’t feel as vintage as I like. To me these are the very best out there at the moment.

From what I see, the strats look just like my Charvel Pro Mod which ran me around $900 new. Suggest you save the $2100 and get the Charvel. Mine has Gotoh components, compound radius, roasted maple neck and all the same stuff (and better resale value😎) Don’t buy threaded tremolos - big problem!

I've been playing for almost 40 years (30+ as a studio/session player) and I've been stunned how many companies have popped up in the last decade or so that are making "alternative copies" to Gibson and Fender for the same price or more. There have always been companies making their version of an LP, SG, V, Strat, Tele, etc., etc. but 99% of them were far less expensive. Lately they're coming out of nowhere and asking premium prices. "Do you want a classic guitar but don't want to spend at least $2,000? Well we're a company you've never heard of so give us at least $3,000." If I've got that kind of $$$ burning a hole in my pocket I'd rather send it to Paul Reed Smith and get something that isn't a straight-forward "repro." Just my two pennies.

Buy a Shijie Suhr quality of build for $1100 new . Try the pickups if you don’t like them because they are bintage wound specs . Upgrade to Suhr Ml and Aldridge . The build is as good as a Suhr if carries the pickups really well
