The door on our 5th wheel is only 24” wide. We went with full size residential sofa with recliners on each end, and reclining theater seating by Lazy Boy. Each sofa is held together by two pieces of angle iron along the base, front and back. Remove those two pieces, then the back separate from the seat easily. The sofa broke down in to 6 pieces, the theater seating was 5. Reassemble both couches in the RV. Easy Peezy! Pricey, but great quality.

We bought reclining theater seats from American Furniture. The salesman guaranteed that it would fit through the door and if not the delivery guys could take it apart and get it through. I measured and remeasured and was pretty sure it would fit. When they showed up to deliver they said they would not take it apart and the salesman was wrong. They would only take off the backs and the legs not the frame. It did fit through the door barely by just taking the backs off. The vertical valances hit when the sofa was reclined so I took them off and had an upholstery shop cut them down for $30. Now we are comfy and happy.😀

Hey guys, while renovating our 1981 vintage Airstream, we replaced the old couch with a cream-colored leather Ashley reclining couch. We love it!!! It’s beautiful & sooo much more comfortable than the original bench style couch. It seats three & has recliners on both ends. Because it has recliners, the back top sections of the couch are removable. This made fitting it through the doorway a breeze.

We swapped out our hide-a-bed two weeks after we got our coach. We got electric recliners from Lazy Boy. They come in two pieces and are easy to get through the door. We selected the electric models as they do not go back when they recline, they slide forward. This allows them to ride on the slide and we can use them without repositioning them. We added a center two drawer cabinet between them to complete the set. Looks like they came new with the coach.

Awesome video shipmates! Love the upgrades. I want to replace our furniture at some point and this provided some great ideas. Upgrades: 1. RV Snap Pads was ordered before we took delivery both on yours and Chad and Tara's recommendations. 2. We had our batteries upgraded to lithium and solar installed (800a/h w/ 2400w solar). Mike Purdue of The Dry Campers did out install and I cannot say enough about Mike and Leanne, they are fabulous people to work with, more importantly the fit and finish of Mike's work is impeccable. Mike is able to find space for placement and for us we lost no cargo space in the process. 3. Easy Starters installed on all three AC is a game changer for both the AC and power consumptions. 4. Starlink...what a game changer. We've had the system now for three months and have yet to be in a place that we didn't have better down/up load speeds over our Pepwave Maxtransit Duo system with two companies data sims. 5. We are in a toy-hauler with a small garage (Momentum 376THS-R) and I own a Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra, I installed the "Biker Bar" in the garage and it has been excellent for securing my bike. No more crawling around trying to secure cargo straps to hold the bike in place.

Enjoyed your video. We replaced both coiuches in our 98 american dream. in the slideout I built cabinetry to encase the 42" led tv. On the other side, wife found a entertainment dual recliner wall hugger type with center console for drinks and storage at AARONs. It actually came apart in several pieces. the frame is angle iron, the 2 seats unbolt from the frame, the backs come off the seats, and the console is small enough to move in with no problems. We got the frame inside, bolted the 2 seats and center console to the frame, re attached the backs, then let the recliner all the way out and bolted the frame to the floor like the original couch/bed was, so the backs were an inch or two from the window. Works like a charm. and I sleep i them all the time. If I knew how to add pics add do so for the recliner and cabinetry.

We ordered our chairs from Lazyboy, too and did away with the couch. Easy to get in and out because the backs on the Lazyboy’s come off easy by flipping the levers. Way more comfortable and the real leather is cooler and won’t peel like most cheap RV furniture.

Just moved into a DRV-5th wheel yesterday. Had the movers remove the rv recliners and put in 2 we had already bought. (Not rv furniture) 1 came apart in 2 sections the other was reclined and fit through sideways. Lay Z Boy recliners always come apart the back from the base and I’d think almost any LZB would fit in an rv, it’s a matter of price after that, but the quality is great. We really want to get a new sofa and am thinking the only ones that will fit and will be affordable will be an ikea. My husband is a Marine Vietnam veteran and disabled, he still has nightmares and doesn’t sleep well, wants to keep a tv on and sleeps on the couch. He’s 6’ tall idk how durable an ikea sofa will be with him sleeping on it at every night. 🤷🏻♀️ We shall see.

Hi - When we bought our RV (2015 Tiffin Phaeton), the previous owners had removed the original furniture and put in two recliners. They were comfortable, but quite used looking and we thought we'd rather have a couch and recliner to make it homier. So - we took out the two recliners and bought a Kathy Ireland couch and recliner online from Camping World. We bought the couch because we liked the way it made into the bed. The couch just basically folds out and creates a nice (kid-sized) bed. The recliner is a rocker/recliner and it is very comfortable, but the problem with it is that the base of it is on a round pedestal and it can't sit far enough off the wall to not knock the wall when you sit in it. If you pull it too far out, it leans too far forward and you'll fall out plus it's in the middle of the room, blocking the fireplace and TV. Securing it for travel is another issue - we have to wedge it just right and surround it with pillows so it doesn't bang against everything, threatening to break the window!! The couch isn't comfortable to sit straight in (we bought it online and that was a mistake). The seating part is too short so it's really only comfortable if you sit sideways and put your feet on the couch, too. The whole set up cost us about $1500. Someday, we will replace both. It is really not an ideal solution. FYI - Couch: www.campingworld.com/kathy-ireland-easy-out-sofa-125485.html?Campaign%7d&gclid=CjwKCAjw_ISWBhBkEiwAdqxb9l0LUEZGbzhcLBtJBZVZtdiV9rwWJxlJSSJ-GBCopfstEOY9u159_xoCZTAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Chair: www.campingworld.com/kathy-ireland-swivel-glider-recliner-125507.html?Campaign%7d&gclid=CjwKCAjw_ISWBhBkEiwAdqxb9qmVkvV1A9DL_N_WeFO6KJs3b7T5k7NpBHyQ-LmjPxwlxcSDDnMHeBoC-wAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Not too many of those TREKs left around. Downsizing from my wonderful old 2000 Bounder 36S, I bought one of the last ones made under the Monaco name. 2016 Monaco TREK 26HM-D. Tan and taupe with the big orange name stripe. Actually Monaco was bought out by REV in 2015 and the 2016 was built on the Fleetwood assembly line so the front end design looks like a Fleetwood and the cherry interior cabinetry is also from Fleetwood. The bedroom has two optional designs. An electric lift up queen bed with closet and storage cabinetry underneath. Or a more standard walk around rear headboard with cabinet surround. Unfortunately, I have the lift up bed. Do not need to put it up too often, thank heavens. Very tight with the slide in. I have the dinette option instead of sofa but I recently came up with a great remodel design that preserves the under dinette drawers and gives me a dedicated desk while moving the recliner onto the slide to now face the TV cabinet. More open and much more livable and mostly just reusing and repurposing the existing pieces doing some woodwork modifications to the bench seats. Project executed by THE GARAGE in Orlando, Florida. Great husband and wife work team. Her mother is a good friend of mine. They do mostly vehicle audio, lighting, security cameras and did my new backup camera system. It was surprising to discover he also did meticulous interior woodworking. Love the results of my remodel and liking my rig more than ever. Next would be recovering the recliner and cockpit seats or replacing them as the cheap vinyl has pealed badly.

We put our leather loveseat from our house in the RV. All I had to do was take the feet off and it fit like a glove through the door. It makes the RV feel more like home.

Question: Do you need to secure the couch and recliner to the motorhome? Thanks!

Great video…Thanks. We also replaced out old pleather sofa with an IKEA Friheten sleeper sofa and love it. We have a Keystone Cougar 5th wheel and had take it thru the door unassembled, but it was not difficult to assemble once it was all inside. Did you have to secure your new sofa or do you secure it while traveling?

I will secure it to the slide floor before we get underway.

We changed out the L-shape sofa in a Fleetwood Bounder. We only had 80 inches in space. We wanted a couch but most were too big and the loveseat was too small. We ended up getting two end pieces of a sectional and it fit perfect. Each end piece were recliners and they hooked together so it still looked like a couch and did not separate from each other.

We did the similar thing. We used two middle pieces of the IKEA sectional so we didn’t lose space to the sofa arms. Sectional pieces are great to create the needed couch length when you have the odd size where couches are too big and loveseats are too small.

Can you do a "Short" to show how you secured the couch and/or got the seatbelts installed? Just curious. If you didn't go with that option, that's cool. DON"T Paint the SLIDES! I've heard it will be worse than the cabinetry. Maybe just peel/sick covering? Or even vinyl wrap material?

We liked our couch but didn’t like the waste of space with the fold out bed… so hubby & I took the bed out and built a wood & metal frame with ‘trap doors’ so I gained storage space!

When I bought my Grand Design Reflection 311BHS, It didn't have seats in the living room. I took out the dining room table and put in a residential sofa w/ reclining ends. In place of the table, I put in a lay-z-boy recliner. How I got it in? With blood (literally), sweat, and tears. The chair was really easy to get in. The couch came in 2 pieces but was still hard to get in.

Why do you have recliner facing away from tv? We have same model and the recliner is on the other end, facing tv.

We replaced the furniture had the front window removed and used a forklift to get up even with dash and slid it in. That how rv shops do it and it’s how the refrigerator gets changed

Please add link to the sofa. I’ve looked on IKEA website and I’m not finding it. Looks comfortable. Look at peel and stick wallpaper for your slide wall. It’s easy on and off and way easier than painting, etc. can also cover the trim pieces.
