I used some of that same tape to fix a hole in a puffer jacket years ago. It's survived a lot and still not showing any signs of letting go.

I've used it to hold on my bumper bars (on cars obvi) and it lasted for years, even in the rain, it was the heat of the sun that made it go all stretchy in the end. I love that it's easy to tear and apply!

So just fyi, those aren't ribbon cables, those are FFC's (flat flexible cable). Ribbon cable is what connects IDE drives. If you need to replace something searching "FFC cable (I know, it's redundant)" will get you way more love

Picked up the Tuf gaming 3090 from MicroCenter this morning and if I didn't get it basically for free I would be disappointed. Got a 3080 on launch day from MicroCenter and wound up selling the same day for 2 grand. Since I made my money back plus enough extra to pay for a 3090 I said f it why not. Picked up another Got the Tuf gaming 3090 and the thing is a damn brick. barely fits in my case.

I hate the assembly of the reference cards, it's like taking apart an smartphone. I don't have any problem in doing it but just imagine doing a quick repaste that you could do in 5 min with only a philips screwdriver. With this card it could take solid 20 mins for someone knowing what's going on.

At least AMD's Blowers can be taken apart with only a Philips Screwdriver. For all their other faults, hard disassembly isn't one of them.

would it be possible to put a 3090 cooler on a 3080? Edit: Nevermind looks like the 3090 pcb is too wide

The only partner designs I've really liked have mostly been from EVGA, since you'll mostly ever just see the side anyway.

The cooler is very Apple-like in its design. Very clean, but difficult to disassemble and reassemble. AIB cards are very 1337 g4m3r themed as usual. I think the MSI Ventus range is the nicest looking of the AIB cards, although I ordered an Asus 3080 TUF OC edition since it seems to be one of the best reasonably priced 3080s around.

To remove delicate ribbon cables without damage, safest method is to use some alcohol and non-stick tape (like the backing tape that comes with 2-sided tapes). Alternatively you can take some thin tape like Kapton (polyimide) tape, stick 2 pieces to themselves and use that as a shim. Might have to trim the edges. Alcohol will help lubricate and loosen the glue while the non-stick tape will shim the ribbon loose.

My question is there any negative effect of the magnet (from the frame) to the gpu itself? Or just minor?
@GamersNexus4 жыл бұрын
No, no impact.

Magnets only affect hard disk drives, cd/dvd/blu-ray drives and floppy drives. I ruined a DVD drive over ten years ago by putting a desk fan right in front of my computer. It was a hot summer and my dorm had no AC so I used the desk fan to cool my computer with the side panel open. After that, the DVD drive stopped reading reliably. Electric motors use electromagnetism to spin the rotor.

I am thoroughly impressed with the design of the cooler. I have never seen anything like it before and it actually works. They were able to pack the 3080 into a footprint so small it's only dual slot and nothing oversized about it except for the cooler. Massive cooler and a very small PCB. EVGA is the only partner that I've seen able to fit into that form factor. Of course Nvidia kept all the good dies for themselves as they usually do for FE cards. Cheeky bastards.
