My guess is that since the rainbows are stocked, they are not conditioned to be hunting and foraging the same way the brook trout are. The brook trout’s main food source is likely what Ben was using which is a larva type animal instead of minnows. While the rainbows will hit anything that crosses their line of sight

Hoping for trout, post-spawn pickerel, pre-spawn bass, and maybe some schoolie Stripers next week in CT. Tight lines and nice trout.

I grew up fishing the blackeledge River and it is still one of my favorites, You have the Salmon River and Jeremy all right there with some great fishing opportunities. Those fish are all stocked fish, CT stocks Brown, Rainbow, BRook, and Tiger trout. We do have some wild fish around as well. Seeing STocking in in full swing you are most likely catching all stockers. Still a fun day! Congrats! I need to order some of those jugs and especially those helgramites.

Great video. I had the chance to fish the canal in Morrisville on opening day. I caught so many trough off of a 3.25” soft plastic on a dropshot. It felt like I was bass fishing lol. NJ season opens saturday so i'll be out there for a little bit. Thanks for sharing.

You should come up to the northeast mountains in pa to fish the small streams for native brook trout

Wild trouts are key in to a more natural presentation of bugs, while stock trouts are use to pallets & worms. Something flashy will grab both types of trouts though. But when a hatch happens, you will only catch wild trouts then stock trouts from my experience unless stock trout's been in that river system for a while. Great video as always 👍 ***My go to livebait will always be red worms for stock or wild.***

That first rainbow is not invasive! It is not native, but is purposefully planted there by their dnr for catch and release. Semantics? Sure but it is about meaning and intent. Btw, that is a beautiful river!

From a Zoology standpoint, the Rainbow Trout _(Oncorhynchus mykiss)_ is invasive in more than 90% of the United States of America (East Coast included). Just because the government agencies stock it, or because the angling community "accepts it," it doesn't really make it any less invasive than it is. At the end of the day, those stock Trout will still bring ecological damage to native ecosystems where they are stocked. A term for this "acceptance" is "naturalization." Thus, a lot of people tend to say that these invasive species are now "naturalized." But again - accepted or not; naturalized or not - these invasive fish still wreck havoc on native ecosystems.

Nice video. My 11 yr old son and I have been using epf lures for about a year or little more and loving them. Catching all types of species. I have an identification question for you and some pictures to go along if there is a way to send them to you. I believe they are all fallfish but not 100% sure.
